Intellij idea is automatically changing the name of the project to one of the module that is imported. Is this a feature that can be disabled somewhere?
Steps:
Create project
Import module - maven - A
import another module - maven -B
project name is changed to 'A'.
This has happened to several other projects i have. I'm on the latest version of Intellij community edition. 2020.3
It is known issue: IDEA-230219.

The similar issue was report in this post without any solution.

My IntelliJ Version is IntelliJ IDEA 2022.1.2 (Community Edition)
For over an year, I have been working on a maven project which uses a customized ibm-jdk8 and a customized maven installation.
So I've configured global maven runner & import settings & project & module SDK settings to use this custom JDK.
All this setup had been working fine for over an year.
Yesterday, I updated IDEA to newer version, I'm not sure what was the reason but I started getting wired IDE errors.
So I invalidated the cache and restarted the IDE,
When that did not solve the issues, I manually deleted following folders
All ~/AppData/*/JetBrains folders .
.idea folder inside project root.
project-name.iml file inside project root.
After that I updated all intelliJ setting same as above, but
Since then I've been getting Cannot resolve symbol 'String'
Strangely all other JDK classes are detected, but in whole code String is not working.
It's a known issue specific to IBM JDK.
The workaround is to manually add vm.jar file from JDK_HOME\jre\bin\default\jclSC180\vm.jar to the SDK classpath tab in IntelliJ IDEA.
I followed instruction from following link to create a Play project in IntelliJ but IntelliJ doesn't show correct structure.

I ran into the same issue and found this: Building a Play 2.6 project from IntelliJ builds nothing
So now we're 3 people with the same problem. I haven't found any open bug report or issue anywhere.
I got it working using the workaround that OP from the other question suggested: "Build the project from SBT in your desired location first, and then import the project from IntelliJ as an SBT project and you should be good to go."
To do that just run sbt new playframework/play-scala-seed.g8 (assuming you have SBT installed and PATH configured), and import that.
I raised the issue with IntelliJ support. It seems to be fixed in the latest release of IntelliJ ultimate edition. If you run the default application and see 'no jdk error', go to edit configurations and select the top level project in play module (see pic)
I am working on two Gradle projects. One of these projects is a supporting library that will be used by other projects in the future so project A depends on project B but not as a 'multi module project'. The dependency is to be resolved through the artifact repo so project a declares it as a compile dependency using it's maven coordinates.
My problem is when working on these two projects in IntelliJ changes to project B aren't made available to project A until I install it (using the Gradle Maven plugin) in my local repo. This is kind of annoying and slows down my workflow. Is there a way to get IntelliJ to automatically update the dependency internally?
This is supported in the latest versions of Gradle and IntelliJ. It is known as a Composite Build.
Composite builds can be declared in the project's settings.gradle file as follows:
includeBuild '../my-app'
or by using the --include-build command line argument:
$ gradle --include-build ../my-utils run
Take a look at the Composite Builds with Gradle and IntelliJ IDEA Webinar for instructions on how to configure the integration.
In IDEA 2017 you can right-click on the gradle module and use Composite Build Configuration to link the current module to one or more gradle module already opened in the current workspace.
I'm trying to (re)import a hybris project in IntelliJ with the hybris integration plugin. But every time when I get to the point to select the modules there are none except the project name itself. If I try to ignore that and just press next than I end up with a project without folder / modules.
That problem came after I imported that project ones and then deleted all files that are pointed to IntelliJ.
Is it possible to clean IntelliJ from a whole project with all dependencies etc. so I can import the project like nothing happend before?
v5.4.2 required other plugins which you probably had disabled. such as spring, ant or git.
The best way to get speedy resolution on the intellij hybris plugin is from their jira support portal. Dont forget to register/login first so that you can get an answer.

Version 5.4.2 is broken. Downgrading to the older one (5.3.1) worked for me and fixed that "no modules when importing"-problem
Using InteliJ IDEA, I am trying to set up multiple projects to run as part of the same IDE.
When import it (File->New Project->From Maven) only the latest imported project shows up.
How can i get multiple projects to appear?
As you can find in the FAQ, IntelliJ IDEA project maps to Eclipse workspace and module maps to Eclipse project.
Create one IDEA project and then add multiple modules to it. Modules can have different JDK and language level settings.
