What I want to do is that after I select a radio button that is connected to the column names, I want to put a value related to the column name that I selected inside the textbox. After I enter a value in the text box, I then click the "Apply filters" button to apply my filter.
Let's say I have a datatable with N items.
By default, datatables loads X elements (25, 50 or 100)
I would like that by default, only the entries of the current month are loaded (for example now we would only see the entries of November)
Similarly, with two buttons, load the entries of the previous or next month.
I found this, but a time range has to be specified manually by the user.
Would it be possible to achieve something like this without the user having to enter a date range? that is, simply by clicking on next or previous to change the month.
Here is an approach which shows one way to combine the various elements needed for your question:

This could be replaced by more-or-less anything you prefer. It's just a basic demo.
Some logic to manipulate the "previous" and "next" values for the year/month display.
I use the Luxon library for this, included as a page resource:

I also add functions to increment and decrement the selected date by one month; and to format the display of the date (see below).
For the filtering logic, I base my approach on the example you linked to in your question.
I cheated a bit, by basing the filtering logic on string comparisons. So, I take the date string as shown in the DataTable, and chop off the day-of-month portion to give a year/month string.
This simplifies the filtering logic. But you can use date objects if you prefer.

JavaScript Date() function will get the current date and has functions for modifying the date.
So your buttons will set a parameter like this:

But while sorting a column the records get reset.Means, if i am on page 2,3,4,etc and if i click on a header to sort the data, the data gets reset and i am on the first page. See this answer if you want to sort current page only. I agree with it, there is little to no sense to do that.
However, using DataTables API you can stay on the same page when sorting occurs.
The solution is to store current page number when user changes page or performs a search:

I have the following JS function which shows a list of dates in a pop-up.
This function is called after an AJAX call that returns the required data.

This will be called on a button click and it shows the dates as comma separated values.
To show this in a tabular format, I looked at Datatables.js library.
It requires a template table to be present into which the desired data will be injected. That works fine when you are showing the data on a page.

Steps:

After using the column filter, I need to un-focus the column filter, then I can trigger the row click event.

It is not a bug, it is the expected behaviour. You are using a paginated table, and then

is executed, you actually only attach the click handler to visible <td>'s, i.e <td>'s on page #1. You must use a delegated event handler in order to target all <td>'s at any time, also those injected to the DOM dynamically :

Update, I see the problem. Simply call blur() in the filter input handler :

Dont know if 500ms is suitable, you can experiment with that.
You need to use delegated event handler because cells get recreated when table is redrawn, for example after filtering or page change.

In my case, like davidkonrad suggests I apply blur in the filter input handler, but immediately after I apply focus on it. Thus user can continue to type in the filter and row click works as expected. Try it!
Example:
$("#example thead th input[type=text]").on( 'keyup change', function () {
//...filtering
$(this).blur();
$(this).focus();
});
The above solutions did not work for me because I wanted the user to be able to continue to input text regardless of where they put the mouse cursor or how long they waited between key-presses. Instead, I decided to only update the table when they pressed enter and call blur at the end of this function. The best part is this only needed one more line of code. My implementation is below

I have used the mouse leave function with the blur() which gives an easy solution.
