I'm having a hard time of searching about retrieving/getting server time without using GET DATE(). My previous application, I used GET DATE() and it works but when it is installed in local pc(multiple users) the get date is not the same just like the other PC. Then I search about netapi32.dll from other forum sites (Here!) it does work in local pc and other pc not running OS SERVER but in getting server time with OS SERVER installed its no luck.
BTW, this is a WinForm Application.
Any ideas or alternatives is much appreciated.
Thank you in Advance.
If you need a consistant time without using a server, the only think I can suggest is using an Internet Time Server. I would not sugest you query the server everytime you need the time but just query it once, at startup, and track the offset from the local computers' time.
Here is some information on getting the Internet time if you like: Sync Internet Time with Computer

This error is occurring on every *.asp page in the application, but the *.aspx pages work just fine.
I did not develop the application, but the person who did has long since left the company. We have about 20 customers, all with the program working just fine. One of the customers had their server crash, and we had to re-set it up on their new server. Everything is working just fine now, except for this error on the *.asp pages.
The same connection string is used for all of our customers, so I know the problem is not there. There are no system DSNs or user DSNs defined on any of our customers.
This is a 32-bit application on a 32-bit server (server 2003 with SQL 2005).
I'm pretty sure it's a permissions or setting error, but I have checked absolutely everything I can think of.
Please help.
A company with 1400 employees can't use this program until I get it back up and running. I have no idea what else to do.
Thanks everyone for your help.
Sorry it took me a little bit to respond to you, but I had heard back from the original developer, and he had a hidden connection string deep within the program specifically to trip someone up if they were trying to install the program without authorization. He gave me the info I needed and it worked beautifully.
Thanks again!
A developer has made me a script to connect my CRM infusionsoft to a Google calendar. When I put through a specific form on my CRM its then added to my Google calendar. The script checks every two minutes for any updates. I set-up a EC2 Amazon Linux instance and put the script on it. The server has gone down twice. The first time it came back again but now I cant access it via SSH. I get this error message:
ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer
After trying out lots of different fixes, not of which were successful I came to the conclusion that maybe the server was being overloaded? I was going to create a new instance and pop the script on their. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? If it is how can I stop the server being overloaded again? Could I increase the MaxStartups value? Will this help? Is there a different value I can increase. I would really appreciate some help with this.
Start with the Monitoring tab of your instance in the console. This will show you what is going on with your instance.
Once you figure out what the problem is, you can set up Cloudwatch alerts to let you know when certain events have occurred.
I've been working with visual studio in a corporate environment for a long time, where we have a central SQL Server set up to store the data for all our in-house programs.
I've been asked to work on a side job for a small company where they want a program that will share data from a database between a half dozen computers.
My first reflex is to get them to set up a small server, install a database and then connect to it like I usually do, but before I start I'm wondering if there is a better way to do it.
Part of my problem is that if this works out really well, there is a chance that the program could be used in other companies, and I don't want to have to set up a server and write a custom version with a custom connection string for each one.
It could be that I'm thinking to deeply about this, I'm just hoping that a little research ahead of time might save a lot of time down the road.
Why would you need a custom build just to change the connection string ?
Just change your app App.config - or are we missing something here ?
What is App.config in C#.NET? How to use it?
I recently upgraded from 2005 to 2012 (about 10 months). When I first started using SSMS2012 it worked great was able to open multiple windows in a particular database. For about that last 2-3 months SSMS hangs when I try to open more than 1 query window or open a file. It is random but happens a majority of the time. I have been able to interrupt the hang a few times. When I interrupt it I get the login screen and it sits there trying to log in apparently unsuccessfully. If I cancel the login and try it again with the same entries it connects just fine and things are great, but I have to do this for every window and I cannot often break into that screen before it stops responding.
I have searched extensively and have not found an answer to this problem. It only appears to be happening to a particular instance. The instance does not show any signs of issues, has been rebooted and configuration checked for inconsistencies, etc. I am at a loss. If anyone has experienced this and has been able to resolve it I would appreciate a response.
Again this is a fresh install of 2012 standard with 2005 imported databases. All indications show that it is working fine. compatibility level for a majority of the databases are still 90, until I can clear them for 11 with the software they house. I have a test environment with the restored versions on a different server and no issues result from that instance - I can open up multiples without incident. My belief is it is something with that particular instance, but I am not sure where else to look.
Thank you in advance.
I need your help, I have a problem with server.transfer code in vb.net, it runs so slow..
My Question:
Why does it run slowly (take 5 minutes to move between web pages (.aspx))?
What should i check for this trouble?
Is it because operating system? Im use windows 7, before i used windows XP there is no problem like this...
is server.transfer related to database connection (not sure)? I use mysql (XAMPP packages).
Or may be because other configuration that i miss out in windows seven.
FYI: i try in several web browser same result(loading 5 minutes)..
Thank every one that answer my question, thank you very much!
One thing I've found on this is that it can have to do with the status code the transferred page returns. If it returns a 500 error, it can make your server transfer run upwards of five minutes.
One way to test this, if you can, is to run the transferred page in isolation and generate any of the information being transferred on the other side to see if any errors are generated.
It took me a day to figure this out. Hopefully it helps someone else.
