here suppose my roles are admin and editable... I can successfully display the roles as checkbox and also params[:access] gives me the particular role i have selected. Suppose i select both the roles params[:access] just returns back admin. I want to get both the roles. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
You need to do a simple trick to make rails see "access" as an array
%input#roles{name: "access[]", type: "checkbox",value:"#{role}"}/
That way params[:access] will be an array on which you can loop over

I have an issue related to filtering data in Netzke Grid.

It is mentioned in the doc that,
A hash that will override the automatic editor configuration. For example, for one-to-many association column you may set it to {min_chars: 1}, which will be passed to the combobox and make it query its remote data after entering 1 character (instead of default 4).
Seems {min_chars: 1} is not working as expected.
Please see example below for simple Customers grid and let me know if it works for you. Netzke way is to use __ (double underscore) to define one-to-many associations. This gives you combobox and all necessary data bindings. I tried different ways to make min_chars property work, but it all failed. Could be a bug. In the end, the only thing that worked is to do it from init_component method.

I have a form that allows you to select a facility by name then writes the id of the facility to a vale in the database.

I'd like to be able to select the facility name but to the right of the facility name display the facility_address in the form. I'm not sure how to do this, possibly an array of some sort or using a helper method.
If anyone can provide some help it would be appreciated.
Here is what ended up working properly for me by creating a Class method.
def facility_name_with_facility_address
"#{facility_name} | #{facility_address}"
end
This is untested so bear with me, but you need to add a method to your Facility model:
def facility_name_with_facility_address
facility_name << " " << facility_address
end
And then in your form you want to change the following:
<%= f.collection_select(:transfer_to_id, Facility.all, :id, :facility_name, {:include_blank => true}, {:class => 'select'})%>
To this:

I am following the instructions to implement auto complete in a rails 3.2.11 application but I need to specify a minimum number of characters to type before the query triggers. THe jQuery API documentation has an attribute "minLength". I can't figure out how to implement this in a rails auto complete field tag. Here is my code for the field tag.

Well, minLength doesn't work because of this code in autocomplete-rails.js, line 65 or so:

I am stuck with what I think is a simple problem. I am creating json and need to have the format be:

I've a table with an integer column called "map_id", I want to add an activeadmin filter to filter if this column IS NULL or IS NOT NULL.
How could this be implemented ?
I tried the following filter
filter :map_id, :label => 'Assigned', :as => :select, :collection => {:true => nil, :false => ''}
But, I get the following error message :
undefined method `map_eq' for #
If anyone is happening on this thread belatedly, there is now an easy way to filter for null or non null in active admin :
filter :attribute_present, :as => :boolean
filter :attribute_blank, :as => :boolean
It is no longer necessary to add a custom method to the scope to accomplish this.
Not found a good solution but here is a how.
filters of Active_admin are accomplished by meta_search, you can override the functions automatically generated by meta_search in your model to get the behavior that you want, the best way is to use the scope since you need to return a relation in order to chain with other query/scopes, as stated here
in your model:
for :as=>:select filters, acitve_admin use the _eq wheres, here is the source code

#re-define the search method:
search_method :map_eq, :type => :integer
in your ative_admin register block:

# not using :none=>nil because active_admin will igore your nil value so your self-defined scope will never get chained.

seems search_method doesn't work in recent rails version, here is another solution:
add scope to your model:
scope :field_blank, -> { where "field is null" }
scope :field_not_blank, -> { where "field is not null" }
add to /app/admin/[YOUR MODEL]
scope :field_blank
scope :field_not_blank
you will see buttons for these scopes appear (in top section, under model name, not in filter section)
The new version of ActiveAdmin uses Ransacker. I manage to got it working this way:
On the admin
filter :non_nil_map_id, :label => 'Assigned', :as => :select, :collection => [['none', 'none'], ['one', 1],['tow', 2]]
For consistency, I took the same code from #Gret answer just changing the filter name
On your model
ransacker :not_nil_map_id, :formatter => proc {|id| map_id != 'none' ? id : 'none' } do |parent|
parent.table[:id]
end
This should trigger a search against nil in case the id is 'none', and active record will return all the nil id entries.
