I have a problem with visual studio window phone 8. In the 'Windows Phone Developer Registration' window I get 'unable to connect to a phone'. The message also says 'For Windows Phone 8 phones make sure that the Windows phone IP Over USB Transport (IpOverUsbSvc) service is running. I followed the instructions on this site and this service is running. I still get the same problem. What can I do?
Delete devices from Device Manager as described here. Additionally I had to remove my Lumia devices from "Other devices". Also try to restart IpOverUsbSvc service.
Ok first it must that your operating system and your SDK have the same language.
second check Are the date and time set correctly on the phone? In SETTINGS | date + time, turn off the Set automatically setting and then retry registration.
if the registration succeed and you have a certificate error or anything wrong then download
the Preview for Developers in your phone and unlock it
Make sure you're using a developer account, not just any old Microsoft account.

I have the Problem that, when I run the app (made with Unity) the emulator says over speakers: "next you neet to sign in with your account you use on this device." This commando comes more often over the speakers...
VS ('15 with Update 3) brings up the ErrorMessage:"The Windows Store-App "nameoftheapp_pzq3xp76mxafg!App" cant be activated. The activation request failed with "Access denied"
I read that the vEthernet(Internal Ethernet Port Microsoft Emulator NAT Switch) must be activated. After the installation it was. But than I have no internet access with VS and Internet Explorer?!?
Further informations I found here: Hololens- Failed to Connect to Device
But in the Hyper-V Manager I can't even find the Emulator...
Could it not work because:
I m not working as administrator and have always to type in the local admin password?
Limited network settings (Firewall, rights) because I'm at the workplace
Didnt look in the BIOS settings like install the tools says?
By the way, on the drives (over USB) it works perfect.
Maybe that helps to my explanation:

Make sure your computer have internet connection. I had similar issue when network proxy was configured incorrectly .
Also try after clearing internet explorer cached content (history, password, cookies etc.)
I have to use an existing project in STEP7/TIA PORTAL v11 and I have the PLC (CPU 1212C AC/DC/RLY) with the code downloaded inside it which is connected to a touch panel (KTP600 Basic Color PN).
What I want is to download the code from the PLC to my computer to try to modify it, is this posible?
Because I've tried to connect it to my PC and it doesn't detect it. It turns on the ERROR and the MAINT leds in red.
The configuration is over a virtual machine (VMware player with Windows 7) because my PC has Windows 8 installed and it doesn't support TIA PORTAL is there any problem with this?
If program was uploaded with TIA11 it is not good idea to use v13. What is more with other version you need new licence keys.
From your vm ping the plc address if itis in right subnet. Then serch for sccessible nodes. On your picture i see that you should try using 'search all accessible devices'.
Upgrade to version 13 of TIA Portal. This version can run under Windows 8.
Under VMWare you have to change the network settings for your Virtual Machine to bridged. Also install VMWware Tools.
Those are some steps that I would try.
make sure you can ping it from inside your Virtual Machine. It will validate the route to the plc (cable, network config). It’s not a necessary step to connect to a plc, but it’s a good check.
Go to Control Panel on Windows, then PG/PC , then make sure that you have the right Hardware Interface Active
If you still not able to see the PLC, I advise you to to download PRONETA, if it still doesn’t show up there, then the research would have to go deeper. Until today, I’ve only one time in all year when a device have not apeares in Proneta.
I upgraded to Windows 8 RTM a few weeks ago and yesterday I attempted to create a Windows Store account using my bizspark token. I get the message: "We don't recognize the computer you're using".
This is the same computer I've been using.. As I understand it I was supposed to get an email to confirm this as a new trusted computer when I upgraded. I never did. I have valid emails accounts and a phone number associated with my windows Live account.
In trying to figure it out I "deleted" the listed trusted computers, so that will happen in 30 days but if I click the Cancel the deletion I am taken to a screen that says:
"Use your existing security info to help us make sure this is you. How can we contact you? ", with the only option available being "Use my trusted PC".
I saw somewhere in some forum that Windows Essentials is supposed to help, I downloaded it and ran wlstartup.exe and if I remember correctly I had the option to make this a trusted PC. It made no difference, I'm still not trusted . If I rerun wlstartup it just gives me a dialog that says "Connect your favorite Services" with a Linked In logo. I tried it with no other apps running and logged out of Live and messenger. The file version of wlstartup is: 16.4.3503.728
I've tried devices.live.com , click the "add this computer" link and it takes me to the Essentials download page, which, as mentioned, I've already downloaded and ran.
So basically, I need to make my computer trusted ( again ) so I can get a Windows Store account, and have no idea how.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thansk,
Craig
Did you maybe reinstall windows 8. You need to trust the new PC from the old install, which is impossible, so frustratingly you have to wait 30 days before you can delete the old install and add the new trusted PC.

I've looked through MSDN on both the Store API and the Launchers collection, and can't seem to find a task or launcher that would open up an application in the Marketplace application ready for a user to rate, as we could really easily do in Windows Phone 7. Is there an alternative way that I can easily point a user towards leaving a review/rating, or are we going to have to wait until MS provides this, or does it already exist?
I believe, or should I say "I hope", that the "rate and review" command appears automatically under the settings charm for all applications downloaded from the store.
Can anyone confirm this?
Yes it looks like you are right, in the Guidelines for app settings (Windows Store apps) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/Hh770544.aspx#user_experience , says that in the charm setting under Rate & Review, the user can rate and review your application.
However: "Only apps that are installed through the Windows Store have the Rate and review entry point."
