java jni self wake up on usb - usb

I have an existing java and JNI based application which reads successfully from a usb device. I need to add a feature that when the device is plugged in, my application should wake up. Can anybody please point to similar solutions with examples and docs ? i need to do this in mac only.

How to power off USB device from Windows using batch or any API

For testing purposes I need to power off a USB device from my computer programmatically. The microprocessor in the USB device is ARM Cortex M4.
I have tried using Devcon, although the device was disabled, power was still provided to the device.
I have also tried to disable the USB root hubs ,that also didn't work.
I have read some other posts indicating that a SSR could be used, this option is not desired. I would rather choose the software solution(if there is one of course).
Some other answers have indicated that this is an OS issue, and some others a chip-set architecture issue.
So my question is what options are there available. And also is this purely something dependent on the computer side or do we need to implement something on the USB device side as well.

Get type of device inserted to windows 8 pc via USB port

I've been asked to work on a project for Windows 8 where I have to detect:
Type of device inserted to USB port (mass storage drive or android phone or windows phone etc.)
Port in which device was inserted. (if I have 4 USB ports in PC then identify which port received new device)
Detect when the device was ejected from the PC
Are there some managed C# API's that can be used to query or if there are some callbacks that can be subscribes to.
Any help or direction will be very useful.

You don't specify whether you are writing a desktop app, or a Modern UI app. If it is the latter, I'm afraid you are going to be out of luck as this level of information is simply not passed down to the app's sandbox.
You may have better luck with a desktop app. I don't have any direct experience of doing what you ask for, but I do remember having read that it may be possible through .NET.

Using live streaming with Red5 from embedded device

I am using MSp430F5418 controller for an embedded device. I want to live broadcast some content to a red5 server from the device (Red5 server is in another computer, not in the embedded device). I have attached a camera and a microphone to my device. Can anybody share some thoughts for doing that?
Red5 is written in Java. I am not aware of a Java implementation that runs on the MSP430 family of processors
The MSP430 running at its top speed of 25MHz just does not have the processing power to handle video and audio processing.
The total RAM available on this processor is only 16kByte. Not really enough for this type of application.

"Unidentified USB Device" on Win CE 6.0

Quite a while I am struggling with a problem regarding the installation of certain USB device driver in Windows CE 6.0.
The device is some kind of Digital and Analog IO device that connects to the USB port.
It is the LabJack U3.
I followed all instruction and put the driver (labjackusb.dll) and coresponding registry entries into the Windows CE image but the device is not detected correctly.
On every boot up a small Message box came up with the Title "Unidentified USB Device"
and the message "Enter the name of the driver for this USB device:"
Whatever name I put into it want work. I tried the name of the dll. Some title in from the registry and so on but never succedes.
The driver does not work nor the device.
The customer support can not help me so I am asking here somebody to help me at least
with a steps to follow to try to find a solution.
Why the OS does not matches the USB device with the corresponding driver?
I checked everything one million times and everything is in place.
There are a load of reasons this might fail. First:
Is the driver definitely a Windows CE driver?
Is it built for CE 6.0 (not 5.0 or something else)?
Is it built for the same processor architecture you have?
The way to really debug this is to hook up KITL, put in a debug version of device.exe and see what the device managet is actually doing when you plug in the device. A way better and way more reliable mechanism than just trying to guess.

USB HOST mode in ICS

I'm trying to connect a usb sensor (see Toradex) to an android phone (Desire Z) running android 4.0.3.
To test this, I wrote a small app to enumerate the attached device(s).
This supposed to have USB HOST mode implemented and to power the usb sensor (HID)... but it doesn't.
I got a USB OTG cable and now, when I attach the cable, a small icon appears in the status bar (car mode).
I'm disappointed since I waited for this feature for awhile now...
Any thoughts? I read almost everything out there related to this (Sven work and whatnot) but I might have missed something...

I have worked a lot in the past year and a half to build custom android platform. Some was under Froyo but mostly on Gingerbread. Most on the hardware I added was on either a UART or on USB, which is what you want to do. Unfortunately, it is not as easy to add a USB peripheral on an Android device than on a PC or a MAC. PCs and MACs have virtually unlimited memory space (hard drive). They can hold the drivers of a very large number of devices. That makes it possible to do auto-detection and automatic loading of drivers. On an Android device, it is a lot more lean therefor, just the required drivers are stored on the device. Every time I added a new device, I had to compile the driver for my platform and make some modification in my configuration. It is also possible to load the driver as a module instead of compiling it with the kernel (gives a file.ko output). Although, the driver must have been written accordingly. But, you will have to install it by modifying the "init.rc" which requires root privilege.
