I am doing a CTF and I have found a password (0e460290431228528018551933538861) and I presume that this is a sort of Hmac or hash of the real password. So, in order to find the real password I think to use John The ripper. I have installed it on my windows but I really do not know how to use. For example is this password of a known format ? should I provide the file rockyou.txt ? How should I proceed ?
Thank you very much for your time and your help
Installed Kali linux

Hello guys is there some tool or methodic to get into let's say 12 years old RAR file.
I tried Kraken CMD tool and dictionary attack but it will take ages goes through all passwords.
Unfortunately for me password is around 35 characters. Alphabet is probably [0-9, J, a, m, e, s] so 15 chars.
I tried some removal tools but nothing seems to work.
Or maybe some community of password crackers exists ?
Thank you for any advice.

I have an "HP Elitebook 2540p" laptop. from when I buy that laptop, "BIOS" have a password. I already tried every way to clear that such as remove motherboard (bios) battery for 72 hours, use PC CMOS Cleaner 2.0 (have erred),.... I don't know how can remove that password and it's important to me.i know it's possible to use F9 for quick book. but I need remove the password. please help me.
You can't. You're asking how to bypass security built into the motherboard/BIOS. The computer was designed to prevent you from doing this. Unless you get lucky and find a known exploit for the model of motherboard and version of BIOS you are running, you're out of luck.

For our company I want to setup a file sharing service such as Dropbox but on our own servers for our corporate information.
It must be only available for employes of our company.
Please suggest me software package.
I suggest you try http://owncloud.org/.
That's what we use in my company and it is quite convenient to sync our working files (similar to what dropbox do), and to share files as well.
Have a look at arXshare (http://www.arxshare.com). You can install it on any server with PHP, it is easy to setup, and it does not require any database and is very lightweight. Furthermore, it does end-to-end encryption, so your shared files on the server are useless without your password.

I'm trying to script a backup system for several servers, some Windows, some Linux. I'd love to be able to use rsync but I can't (at least not in all situations, since some servers I can't install rsync to, and some are Win servers).
I've tested with wget in FTP mode with the "timestamping" option, and it seems to work pretty well regardless of platform. Are there other options that may be more robust/reliable, that will do incremental backups regardless of platform?
Thanks for any ideas
You might try Unison.

You definitely want to have a look at rdiff-backup. And Server Fault. ;)
