vue component compilation issue - vue.js

I'm pretty new to Vue.js so bear with me. I'm working on a project where I created two new vue components, one is a tab/toggle element, the other is a cookie banner. However, when both are added to the page the cookie banner does not compile. The HTML is rendered but it still contains all the vue syntax in its uncompiled form. Does anyone see where the conflict is occurring between these two components? I don't see any errors in the console so I'm at a loss on how to begin debugging.
Component 1:
(function () {
var _instance = new Vue({
el: "#multiTrackSwiper",
data: {
tabs: {}
},
methods: {
checkActiveTab: function (index) {
if (this.tabs['active']) {
return this.tabs['active'] === index;
} else {
return index === "0";
}
},
handlerActiveTab: function (index) {
Vue.set(this.tabs, 'active', index);
}
}
});
})();
#using Sitecore.Feature.Media.Models.Components
#model List<ITrackWithCarousel>
#if (Model != null && Model.Count > 0)
{
if (Model.Count == 1)
{
<div class="c-product-details__track">
#Html.Partial("TrackWithCarousel", Model[0])
</div>
}
else
{
var index = 0;
<div id="multiTrackSwiper" class="multi-track-swiper" vue-instance v-cloak>
<ul class="nav nav-tabs">
#foreach (var track in Model)
{
<li class="nav-item">
<button id="tab_#track.Name.Replace(" ","_")" data-bs-toggle="tab" class="nav-link"
v-bind:class="{ 'active':checkActiveTab('#index') }"
v-on:click="handlerActiveTab('#index')">
#track.DisplayName
</button>
</li>
index++;
}
</ul>
#{ index = 0; }
#foreach (var track in Model)
{
<div class="c-product-details__track c-product-details__multitrack" aria-labelledby="tab_#track.Name.Replace(" ","_")"
v-bind:class="{ 'active':checkActiveTab('#index') }">
#Html.Partial("TrackWithCarousel", track)
</div>
index++;
}
</div>
}
}
Component 2:
(function () {
var _instance = new Vue({
el: "#cookie-banner",
data: {
cookieSaved: null
},
methods: {
saveSessionCookie: function () {
var expiry = (new Date(Date.now() + 600 * 1000)).toUTCString(); // 3 days 259200
document.cookie = "cookie-banner-closed=true; expires=" + expiry + ";path=/;"
this.cookieSaved = true;
}
},
mounted: function () {
if (document.cookie.includes('cookie-banner-closed')) {
this.cookieSaved = true;
} else {
this.cookieSaved = null;
}
}
});
})();
<div id="cookie-banner" vue-instance v-cloak>
<div class="cookie-disclaimer" v-if="!cookieSaved">
<div id="cookie-notice">
<div class="cookie-inner-module h-spacing">
This website uses cookies. We do this to better understand how visitors use our site and to offer you a more personal experience. We share information about your use of our site with social media and analytics partners in accordance with our Privacy Notice</a>.
<i class="fas fa-times" v-on:click="saveSessionCookie"></i>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I've tried switching both vue components into vue instances instead but that doesn't resolve the issue.

The HTML is rendered but it still contains all the vue syntax in its uncompiled form.
I don't think that you are using Vue format/syntax. So it will render what you are typed inside html.

How to fire an event in mount in Vuejs

I have a sidebar that you can see below:
<template>
<section>
<div class="sidebar">
<router-link v-for="(element, index) in sidebar" :key="index" :to="{ name: routes[index] }" :class='{active : (index==currentIndex) }'>{{ element }}</router-link>
</div>
<div class="sidebar-content">
<div v-if="currentIndex === 0">
Profile
</div>
<div v-if="currentIndex === 1">
Meine Tickets
</div>
</div>
</section>
</template>
<script>
export default {
mounted() {
EventBus.$on(GENERAL_APP_CONSTANTS.Events.CheckAuthentication, () => {
this.authenticated = authHelper.validAuthentication();
});
console.log()
this.checkRouter();
},
data(){
return {
currentIndex:0,
isActive: false,
sidebar: ["Profile", "Meine Tickets"],
routes: ["profile", "my-tickets"],
authenticated: authHelper.validAuthentication(),
}
},
computed: {
getUser() {
return this.$store.state.user;
},
},
methods: {
changeSidebar(index) {
this.object = this.sidebar[index].products;
this.currentIndex=index;
},
checkRouter() {
let router = this.$router.currentRoute.name;
console.log(router);
if(router == 'profile') {
this.currentIndex = 0;
} else if(router == 'my-tickets') {
this.currentIndex = 1;
}
},
},
}
</script>
So when the link is clicked in the sidebar, the route is being changed to 'http://.../my-account/profile' or 'http://.../my-account/my-tickets'. But the problem is currentIndex doesn't change therefore, the content doesn't change and also I cannot add active class into the links. So how do you think I can change the currentIndex, according to the routes. Should I fire an event, could you help me with this also because I dont know how to do it in Vue. I tried to write a function like checkRouter() but it didn't work out. Why do you think it is happening? All solutions will be appreciated.
So if I understand correctly, you want currentIndex to be a value that's based on the current active route? You could create it as a computed property:
currentIndex: function(){
let route = this.$router.currentRoute.name;
if(router == 'profile') {
return 0;
} else if(router == 'my-tickets') {
return 1;
}
}
I think you could leverage Vue's reactivity a lot more than you are doing now, there's no need for multiple copies of the same element, you can just have the properties be reactive.
<div class="sidebar-content">
{{ sidebar[currentIndex] }}
</div>
Also, you might consider having object be a computed property, something like this:
computed: {
getUser() {
return this.$store.state.user;
},
object() {
return this.sidebar[currentIndex].products;
}
},
Just use this.$route inside of any component template. Docs .You can do it simple without your custom logic checkRouter() currentIndex. See simple example:
<div class="sidebar-content">
<div v-if="$route.name === 'profile'">
Profile
</div>
<div v-if="$route.name === 'my-tickets'">
Meine Tickets
</div>
</div>

vuejs event modifier search list process

I'm a vue js newbie, I perform a get operation with the value entered in the search input and if there is a result, I show it in "listShow", if there is no result, I return "listShow" false. no problem so far. only if the user chooses any of the incoming data, I send the "name" searchtext of the incoming data to the input. but if there is no result "listShow false" and click somewhere outside the input
I want to make "newDiv" true. so "inputOutClick" does the job, but when I click on any of the "search" data, "inputOutClick" does not allow this "selecteds()" function to fire.
And also, is my coding style correct, I'm getting too repetitive.
Is it ok to use search #keyup?
Does it make sense to use v-on:focusout?
const app = new Vue({
el: '#app',
data: {
searchText: '',
listShow: true,
newDiv:false,
searcList:[],
},
methods: {
inputOutClick() {
this.listShow = false
},
selecteds(list) {
this.listShow = false;
this.searchText = list.name;
},
async search() {
if (this.searchText !== '') {
const res = await this.callApi('get', 'search' + '?filter=' + this.searchText)
if (res.status === 200) {
this.searcList = this.getList;
if (res.data.length > 0) {
this.listShow = true;
} else {
this.listShow = false;
}
}
} else {
this.listShow = false;
}
}
}
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/vue/2.4.2/vue.js"></script>
<div id="app">
<div>
<input
type="text"
v-model="searchText"
#keyup="search"
v-on:focusout="inputOutClick"
/>
<div v-if="listShow" style="background:red">
<ul>
<li v-for="(list, index) in searcList">
<a #click="selecteds(list)">{{ list.name }}</a>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div v-if="newDiv">
<p>hello</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
You can use #mousedown.prevent on the searchList entries (where the click handler is attached). This prevents the v-on:focusout event being fired, if a searchList entry is clicked.
<input
type="text"
v-model="searchText"
#keyup="search"
v-on:focusout="inputOutClick"
/>
<a
#click="selectEntry(entry)"
#mousedown.prevent
>
xxx
</a>
Use #mousedown instead of #click.
=> #click runs after #focusout.
=> #mousedown runs before #focusout.
If you do not want to run the focusout function on the input field when the list is clicked at all then you can use #mousedown.prevent="selecteds(list)".
See example below (click on "Full page" so the console.log doesn't block the list):
const app = new Vue({
el: '#app',
data: {
searchText: '',
listShow: true,
newDiv:false,
searcList:[],
list: {}
},
methods: {
inputOutClick() {
console.log("inputOutClick");
if (this.listShow == false) {
console.log("mousedown was fired first");
}
this.listShow = false
},
selecteds(list) {
console.log("selecteds");
this.listShow = false;
this.searchText = list.name;
},
async search() {
console.log("search");
this.listShow = true;
this.searcList = ['aeaeg', 'tdthtdht', 'srgsr'];
this.list.name = "TEST"
}
}
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/vue/2.4.2/vue.js"></script>
<div id="app">
<div>
<input
type="text"
v-model="searchText"
#keyup="search"
v-on:focusout="inputOutClick"
/>
<div v-if="listShow" style="background:red">
<ul>
<li v-for="(list, index) in searcList">
<a #mousedown="selecteds(list)">LIST TEXT</a>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div v-if="newDiv">
<p>hello</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>

How does vuejs react to component data updated asynchronously

I am very new with vuejs and recently started to try to replace some old jquery code that I have and make it reactive with vuejs. The thing is I have a component that gets information from a nodejs server via socket.io asynchronously.
When I get the data and update my component's data I see the changes when I console log it but it does not change the DOM the way I want it to do.
What is the proper way to grab data asynchronously and use it inside a component? I post some parts of my code so you can see it. I will appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks in advance!
Vue.component('chat', {
data() {
return {
chat: null,
commands: [],
chatOpened: false,
}
},
props: [
'io',
'messages',
'channels',
'connectChat',
'roomChat',
'user',
'userId',
'soundRoute',
],
methods: {
openChat() {
this.chatOpened = true;
},
closeChat() {
this.chatOpened = false;
},
},
created() {
this.chat = this.$io.connect(this.connectChat);
this.commands.push('clear');
let self = this;
$.each(this.channels, function(index, value) {
self.chat.emit('join', {room: index, user: self.user, userId: self.userId}, function(err, cb) {
if (!err) {
users = cb.users;
messages = cb.messages;
if (messages.length > 0) {
self.channels[index].loaded = true;
}
//some more code
}
});
});
console.log(this.channels);
},
template: `
<div>
<div id="container-chat-open-button" #click="openChat" :class="{hide : chatOpened}">
<div>+90</div>
<i class="fas fa-comment-alt"></i>
</div>
<div id="container-chat" class="chat__container" :class="{open : chatOpened}">
<div id="container-chat-close-button" #click="closeChat">
<span>
<div>
<i class="fas fa-comment-alt"></i>
#{{ messages.chat_lobby_icon_title }}
</div>
<i class="icon-arrowdown"></i>
</span>
</div>
<div id="alert-chat" class="chat__container-notifications animated flash"></div>
<div class="row">
<ul>
<li v-for="channel in channels" v-show="channel.loaded === true">Channel loaded</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</div>
`
});
I would expect to see the list of channels with messsages but instead I don't see the list even thought I see my channels with the loaded attribute set to true (by default they all have this attribute set to false).
My guess is that it's this part that is not working as expected.
if (messages.length > 0) {
self.channels[index].loaded = true;
}
The reactive way of doing this is by setting the full object again.
Vue.set(self.channels, index, {
...self.channels[index],
loaded: true
}
EDIT 1:
this.channels.forEach((channel) => {
this.chat.emit('join', {room: index, user: self.user, userId: self.userId}, (err, cb) => {
if (!err) {
users = cb.users;
messages = cb.messages;
if (messages.length > 0) {
Vue.set(self.channels, index, {
...self.channels[index],
loaded: true
}
}
//some more code
}
});
})
You'll need to add support for the rest-spread-operator using babel.

Filter in AngularJS converted to VueJS

I used AngularJS for a long time and now I'm making the switch to VueJS, but I can't figure out why this simple Angular code isn't easily converted to in VueJS.
This is a search-field:
<input type="search" ng-model="searchFor.$">
And then I'm using it like this:
<ul>
<li ng-repeat="user in users | filter: search">
{{ user.email }}
</li>
</ul>
This filter is an easy thing and search in everything in the 'users'-array, so not even the mailaddresses.
How can I do this easily in Vue? Can't figure it out, only can find solutions where you define the specific column it should look.
In this case you must use a computed property that returns a filtred array. The computed array will recursively search in each string properties of your user.
Here is an example
new Vue({
el: '#app',
data() {
return {
search : '',
users : [{name : "John Doe", email : "xerox#hotmail.us"}, {name : "Jane Doe"}],
}
},
computed : {
filteredUsers() {
if (!this.search) return this.users
var find = function(object, search) {
for (var property in object) {
if (object.hasOwnProperty(property)) {
if (typeof object[property] == "object"){
find(object[property]);
} else if (object[property].includes !== undefined){
if (object[property].includes(search)) return true;
}
}
}
return false;
}
return this.users.filter(user => {
return find(user, this.search)
})
}
}
})
<script src="https://npmcdn.com/vue/dist/vue.js"></script>
<div id="app">
<input type="text" v-model="search" placeholder="Filter users">
<p v-show="!filteredUsers.length">No results</p>
<ul>
<li v-for="user in filteredUsers">{{user.name}}, email : {{user.email || 'N/A'}}</li>
</ul>
</div>

Vuejs reactive v-if template component

I'm struggling to understand how to make my component reactive. At the moment the button is rendered correctly but once the create/delete event happens, the template does not change. Any tips on how to update the component after the event has taken place?
new Vue({
el: '#app'
});
Vue.component('favourite-button', {
props: ['id', 'favourites'],
template: '<input class="hidden" type="input" name="_method" value="{{ id }}" v-model="form.listings_id"></input><button v-if="isFavourite == true" class="favourited" #click="delete(favourite)" :disabled="form.busy"><i class="fa fa-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i><button class="not-favourited" v-else #click="create(favourite)" :disabled="form.busy"><i class="fa fa-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i></button><pre>{{ isFavourite == true }}</pre>',
data: function() {
return {
form: new SparkForm({
listings_id: ''
}),
};
},
created() {
this.getFavourites();
},
computed: {
isFavourite: function() {
for (var i = 0; this.favourites.length; i++)
{
if (this.favourites[i].listings_id == this.id) {
return true;
}
}
},
},
methods: {
getFavourites() {
this.$http.get('/api/favourites')
.then(response => {
this.favourites = response.data;
});
},
create() {
Spark.post('/api/favourite', this.form)
.then(favourite => {
this.favourite.push(favourite);
this.form.id = '';
});
},
delete(favourite) {
this.$http.delete('/api/favourite/' + this.id);
this.form.id = '';
}
}
});
Vue.component('listings', {
template: '#listing-template',
data: function() {
return {
listings: [], favourites: [],
};
},
created() {
this.getListings();
},
methods: {
getListings() {
this.$http.get('/api/listings')
.then(response => {
this.listings = response.data;
});
}
}
});
Vue expects HTML template markups to be perfect. Otherwise you will run into multiple issues.
I just inspected your template and found an issue - the first <button> element does not close.
Here is the updated version of your code:
Vue.component('favourite-button', {
props: ['id', 'favourites'],
template: `
<input class="hidden" type="input" name="_method" value="{{ id }}" v-model="form.listings_id"></input>
<button v-if="isFavourite == true" class="favourited" #click="delete(favourite)" :disabled="form.busy">
<i class="fa fa-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i>
</button> <!-- This is missing in your version -->
<button class="not-favourited" v-else #click="create(favourite)" :disabled="form.busy">
<i class="fa fa-heart" aria-hidden="true"></i>
</button>
<pre>{{ isFavourite == true }}</pre>
`,
...
Note the comment on 7th line above, the closing </button> tag is not present in your template.
As a side note, if you do not want to type back-slash at the end of every line to make multi-line template strings, you can use back-ticks as shown in my code example above. This will help you avoid markup errors leading to Vue component issues and many hours of debugging.
Another reference: Check out "Multi-line Strings" in this page: https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2015/01/ES6-Template-Strings
Relevant lines (copied from above page):
Any whitespace inside of the backtick syntax will also be considered part of the string.
console.log(`string text line 1
string text line 2`);
EDIT: Found a possible bug in code
Here is another issue in your create method of favourite-button component:
methods: {
// ...
create() {
Spark.post('/api/favourite', this.form)
.then(favourite => {
this.favourite.push(favourite); // Note: This is the problem area
this.form.id = '';
});
},
//...
}
Your success handler refers to this.favourite.push(...). You do not have this.favourite in data or props of your component. Shouldn't it be this.favourites?
