react native navigation - animate a screen out, but not in? - react-native

I am using #react-navigation/native to navigate between screens in my app. For one particular use case, I want a screen not to animate in, but still animate out. I know that I can disable animations on a specific screen in the Stack.Screen options:
import { createNativeStackNavigator } from "#react-navigation/native-stack";
export const Stack = createNativeStackNavigator();
// Elsewhere:
<Stack.Screen
name="StackAddress"
component={MyComponent}
options={{ animation: "none" }}
/>
I don't see any options for the specifics of entering/exiting animations. Is it possible to have that kind of control over the entering/exiting of animations? Or am I stuck with all or no animations for entering/exiting a screen?

How can I navigate from login screen to a bottomtab screen?

How can I navigate to a bottomtab screen rather than a stack screen? The goal is to take the user to the main home page onPress of the sign in button. I initially created a Stack.Screen and added the homescreen component but that crashed the header and the bottom tab navigation and there was also the back button in the header which isn't supposed to be because the home screen is the main screen. Is there a way to navigate to the bottom tab screen from the sign in component? I'm a beginner by the way and also not so good at using stack overflow
if you're using react router than this may possible with useNavigate() and Link. Also you can add custom javascript window.location.href ="/pagename"
Usage of useNavigate() before return of function-
const navigate = useNavigate()
onClick = (e)=>(
e.preventDefault()
navigate('/home')
)
Usage of Link inside body-
<Link to="/home"></Link>
Usage of custom javascript inside body-
<button onClick = (()=>window.location.href="/home"))>Click me</button>
Hope you'll like the answer. But if you still face any issue just lemme know.
I suggest you to try an Authentication flow approch written by 'React-Navigator' API.
The main idea of that is using 2 Navigators.
Stack Navigator for 'Login'
Tab Navigator for pages which logged in users can see
However, to make this flow available, you need to add Global State Management library like Redux / React Context to handle which navigator is showing. Once the state is set, the app will auto select the navigator used. You don't need to call any function for navigation.
<NavigationContainer>
<Stack.Navigator>
{
!redux.isLoggedIn ?
<Stack.Group>
<Stack.Screen
name="auth"
component={Auth}
/>
</Stack.Group>
:
<Stack.Group>
<Stack.Screen
name="home"
component={YourHomeTabNavigator}
/>
</Stack.Group>
}
</Stack.Navigator>
</NavigationContainer>

React navigation 5 bottom tab bar android keyboard ISSUE

There is huge problem with bottom tab navigation on android that I'm struggling with and can't find any solution!!
on Android when keyboard shows the bottom tab bar goes upon the keyboard, which is obviously not a desired behaviour!
This happens when softInputMode in Android Manifest is set to adjustResize (which is the default mode for react native), I've tried with adjustPan and resolves the problem, but now when keyboard appears android avoids not only the view but either the header of the app! This behaviour too is not acceptable!
I've also tried with workarounds like listening to keyboard events (didShow, and didHide are only available) and disabling the bottom bar on keyboard appearingt but this leads to many glitches in the app.
The keyboardHidesTabBar prop is also very ugly cause it is an animation that hides the bar that starts after keyboard opening...
Have you tried this solution keyboardHidesTabBar: true in TabBarOptions props.
<Tab.Navigator
tabBarOptions={{
keyboardHidesTabBar: true,
}}
>
<Tab.Screen />
<Tab.Screen />
</Tab.Navigator>
Answer for React Navigation V5 with or without a Custom tabBar
if you use a custom tabBar the keyboardHidesTabBar: true prop is not working but when i change the custom tabBar to default tab bar that prop works but i don't like the behavior of that prop on android, so i used keyboard from react-native to check if the keyboard is active or not and setting the css display prop to 'none'
import { Keyboard, View } from "react-native";
const [keyboardStatus, setKeyboardStatus] = useState<boolean>();
useEffect(() => {
const showSubscription = Keyboard.addListener('keyboardDidShow', () => {
setKeyboardStatus(true);
});
const hideSubscription = Keyboard.addListener('keyboardDidHide', () => {
setKeyboardStatus(false);
});
return () => {
showSubscription.remove();
hideSubscription.remove();
};
}, []);
so on the custom tab bar component now we can do like this.
<View style={
[
styles.mainContainer,
keyboardStatus ? styles.hideTabNavigation : null,
]
}
>
// your code here
</View>
Hope this will help someone until they fix this issue!

How to disable swipe action in specific screen on react navigation 5?

im using react navigation 5 on my project, and somewhere in the project i need to make nested navigators like below:
*Stack Navigator
**Material top tab navigatior
***Material bottom tab navigator
**** Stack Navigator
My goal is, actually i want to have 3 static screens like instagram. On the left side will be Camera, then in the center actual content and in the right side something else. And only when you are in center i want to bottom tabs are visible thats why i created it like that. In this case in all the screens you can swipe right or left for reaching to camera or right component.
But what i want to do is, i want do "disable" swipe action in detail screens in center component. Becose center component which is material bottom tab navigator above, contains some stack navigators also, like posts, postDetail. and when i go to postDetail i want to disable swipe left or right action. Becouse in some details im using some swipeable elements like react native swiper etc.
I have tried to give gesturesEnabled: false , swipeEnabled: false in material bottom navigator as props but it doesn't work becouse it's a bottom tab navigator and doesn't take these params.
I also tried to catch state index and if its greater than 0 or 1 i would disable it but in material top tab navigator doesn't change the index when i go to postDetail for example. It's not working like previous version which is react navigation 4.
const BlogStack = createMaterialTopTabNavigator();
const BlogStackNavigator = ({ navigation, route }) => {
return (
<BlogStack.Navigator
initialRouteName="Blogs"
tabBarOptions={{
style: {
height: 0,
},
}}
//swipeEnabled={route.state && route.state.index > 0 ? false : true}
>
<BlogStack.Screen name="Camera" component={Camera} />
<BlogStack.Screen name="Blogs" component={Blog} />
<BlogStack.Screen name="Timeline" component={Profile} />
</BlogStack.Navigator>
);
};
Try setting gestureEnabled to false in Screen's options.
<Screen name={key} options={{gestureEnabled: false}} component={Component} />
You need to set gestureEnabled to false but it's not sent as a prop. You need to set it in the options prop. If you want to set it for all screens you can place it in the navigator like this:
<BlogStack.Navigator
initialRouteName="Blogs"
tabBarOptions={{
style: {
height: 0,
},
}}
screenOptions={{gestureEnabled: false}}
>
or for only specific screens:
<BlogStack.Screen name="Camera" options={{gestureEnabled: false}} component={Camera} />

how to go back a page in react native navigation v3

I'm using the tabs template on expo react native.
I have a navigation in the AppNavigator.js
import React from 'react';
import { createAppContainer, createSwitchNavigator, createStackNavigator } from 'react-navigation';
import MainTabNavigator from './MainTabNavigator';
import GoalScreen from '../screens/GoalScreen';
const GoalStack = createStackNavigator({
Goal: GoalScreen
})
export default createAppContainer(createSwitchNavigator({
// You could add another route here for authentication.
// Read more at https://reactnavigation.org/docs/en/auth-flow.html
Main: MainTabNavigator,
Goal: GoalStack
}));
When i tap on the Goal I get to that page fine. but inside the goal screen i want to go back when i press the back button.
<Left>
<Button hasText transparent onPress={() => {
this.props.navigation.goBack(null);
}} >
<Text>Cancel</Text>
</Button>
</Left>
But for some reason is not working.
In switch navigator you have to switch navigation directly,
eg:
this.props.navigation.navigate("Main");
And if you push from one screen to another screen(In stack navigation) you can use the 'goBack' function.
It's working correctly There is no previous stack to go back.
The purpose of SwitchNavigator is to only ever show one screen at a time. By default, it does not handle back actions and it resets routes to their default state when you switch away
https://reactnavigation.org/docs/en/switch-navigator.html
You can perform goback action inside GoalStack if you have more than one screen. But both the GoalStack and MainTabNavigator is specified in switch navigator. Since switch navigator shows one screen at a time, you can't perform goback here.
if you want to go for MainTabNavigator from GoalStack, you need to use like below
this.props.navigation.navigate("Main")
Try this:
this.props.navigation.goBack();

How to disable navigation animation and remove the screen title when using ReactNative's StackNavigator?

I've created a ReactNative app that uses StackNavigator. Whenever the app navigates from one screen to another, it animates the navigation. Is there a way to remove the animation or customize it? StackNavigator also adds a title to each of my screen. Is there a way to remove the screen title? I tried setting the 'title' property of navigationOptions to an empty screen and the screen was rendered without a title. However, navigating from this screen to another one will cause an exception.
e.g. the "welcome" title in these sample screens
To remove the header from a stackNavigator screen, set headerMode in StackNavigatorConfig to none. So, your stackNavigator should look like so:
import HomeScreen from 'path/to/screen';
const stack = StackNavigator({
Home: {
screen: HomeScreen
}
}, {
headerMode: 'none' // <= here
});
There is an active proposal to allow the customization of animation in react navigation. You can follow this open issue
