So i'm currently modding a game and want to add some additional key inputs. I want to write a program that runs in the background and take in key inputs, translate to the inputs of the game in real time. How can i do this?

Delayed inputs racing game

i have never used game-maker before, but it seemed pretty easy to use for my school project. I want to make a small racing game, but the car has varying degrees of delay in the controls. The project is for exploring latency. so the delay in the controls could be like .05 seconds or .5 seconds, but it has to save the inputs and output in that order. Do you know how i can do this? i don't really know any commands in the language so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also id like to add a survey sheet at the end that save the data to like an excel file, is this possible with gml?
A common way to simulate latency would be to create one or more ds_queue that you add new inputs in and pull inputs for the current frame from. The queue's initial size will determine the latency in frames.
For data export, the easiest is to produce a CSV/TSV, which is but a text file with comma or tab separators and can be imported into a wide variety of sheet-editing software.

How can I use functions in another program

I want to create a simulation program, for BUS related simulations.
These simulations use lot of calculations, and methods, and there are more and more.
First I want to write the Core of the program, which can use separately coded and compiled program blocks. What kind of programming technology is good for this?
For example: I want to send a CAN frame with checksum calculation. In the core program I choose from a directory that which checksum calculation is good for me.

Input live data into AnyLogic

I'm currently a Mechanical Engineering student that is looking into a project on Intelligent Manufacturing.
I have been using AnyLogic to explore manufacturing simulation. I have created a basic Jobshop that involves that transportation of material pallets from delivery to storage to processing. My next step is to transition this static scheduling system to a dynamic scheduling system.
I would like to know if there is any way to actively manipulate the simulation whilst it is running? For example, controlling the availability of processing machines in real time or triggering a delivery. So far I have been unable to find any way of manipulating the simulation after it has been run.
Does anybody have experience with real time data input into simulation software?
In your model, you can always add control elements (buttons, check boxes, sliders, etc). By adding these in the models you can control your model on runtime. For instance... if you have a variable X equal to 3 in your model, if you use a button, you can add the code X=4; and the variable X will change its value.
My suggestion is for you to explore the different options in the controls palette and refer yourself to the anylogic help to learn how to use each of them.
These controls must be placed in "main" in order to make changes when the simulation is running. If you place them in the simulation experiment window, then you won't be able to use them on runtime.

What methods to recognize sentence handwriting?

I mean posts per sentence, not per letter. Such a doctor's prescription handwriting which hard to read. Not just a normal handwriting.
In example :
I use a data mining or machine learning for doing a training from
paper handwrited.
User scanning a paper with hard to read writing.
The application doing an image processing.
And the output is some sentence from paper.
And what device to use? (Scanner or webcam)
I am newbie. If could i need some example in vb.net with emguCV/openCV and researches journals.

Welcome to stack overflow! The answer to your question is twofold:
a. If you want to recognize handwriting that has already happened i.e. it is presented to you as an image you are in trouble. Computer Vision is still not good enough to provide you with reasonable accuracy.
b. If you have a chance to recognize handwriting “as it's happening” - you are in luck. Download, for example, a Gesture Search app from Android play store and you are in business.
The difference between the two scenarios is subtle but significant. In the second case you have an extra piece of information that makes handwriting recognition possible. This piece is timing of each stroke. In other words, instead of an image with handwriting you have a bunch of strokes that are all labeled with their time stamps. You can think about it as a sequence of lines and curves or as image segmentation - in any way this provides a big hint for the system. Additional help comes from the dictionary on your phone but this is typically used by any handwriting system.
Android of course has an open source library for stroke recognition (find more on your own). If you still want to go for recognizing images though, you have to first detect text (e.g. as a bounding box) and second use any of the existing engines to process detected regions. For text detection I can recommend MSER. But be careful trying to implement even text detection on your own - you are entering a world of pain here ;). Here is an article that can help.
As for learning how to recognize text from images on the Internet - this can be your plan B or C or Z when you master above mentioned stages. Don’t try to abuse learning methods and make them do hard work for you - you will hit a wall if you don’t understand what’s going on under the hood.

Correctness testing for process modelling application

Our group is building a process modelling application that simulates an industrial process. The final output of this process is a set of number representing chemistry and flow rates.
This application is based on some very old software that uses the exact same underlying mathematical model to create the simulation. Thousands of variables are involved in the simulation.
Although each component has been unit tested, we now need to be able to make sure that the data output produced by our software matches that of the old simulation software. I am wondering how best to approach this issue in a formalised and rigorous manner.
The old program works by specifying the input via a text file, so I was thinking we could programatically take each variable, adjust its value in the file (and correspondingly in our new application), then compare the outputs between the new and old application. We do this for every variable in the model.
We know the allowable range for each variable so I suppose a random sample across each variable of a few values is enough to show correctness for that particular variable.
Any thoughts on this approach? Any other ideas?
The comparison of output of the old and new applications id definitely good idea. This is sometime called back-to-back testing.
