How to set physical path of IIS site to a share folder - asp.net-core

I have a HMI project using Asp.net core and current host on IIS.Once the project finish we are going to ship them with our Robot. Consider in the future we might have over 100 customers that it will become to a nightmare that I have to connect each customer's device to replace the old files one by one. Is there a way that all of those iis site are using a share folder on the cloud and I just need to change files in that folder then everyone get my updates.

.NET Core - local application with webservice

We have a ASP.NET MVC5 (Business) Web-Application (hosted on our webserver) and need to share and/or grab local data/files from the users (business customer) computer.
For example:
Local foreign Desktop-Applications > this application need some data (e.g. xml-file) from our ASP.NET MVC-Application and maybe we will get back some data (e.g. xml-file) with results. At the moment the user can download only the file to the browsers Download-Folder, and copy the file to the predefined destination folder of the foreign Desktop-Application. The user need to manually upload the resulting xml-file to our application.
Scanner: If the user scan something he can only manually upload it (for some scanners he also have to manually open the scan folder) - Drag & Drop is nice, but it would be more comfortable if this happens automatically. User don't want to Drag & Drop files.
local Payment terminals (POS-Terminal) which are connected with USB or locally at the customers network > I can't interact with it from our Web-Application.
There would morge examples for other desktop applications / local devices which I can't access from an Web-Application.
Now our idea was to write a local .NET Core application which acts like a webservice, e.g. RESTful API where I can allow CORS-Header for my Web-Application > so we can communication locally. (We have also thinked about browser plugins, but this wouldn't be easy to support all browsers).
It should run locally on windows / mac and without the need for a webserver (e.g. IIS). A user GUI isn't necessary at all - but it would be great to do some settings (like folders for the foreign applications) or updating this application.
Can this be done with .NET Core?

Moving Images between Pirhana Websites

When uploading images on my local development environment, and uploading the contents of the Uploads and Content Folders up to the live environment the images do not show even after updating the application pool - do you know what step i am missing. I am using Piranha in passive mode?
Well without any further information it's hard to come up with something that will qualify as an answer :) However, if you have copied both the database and the binary files located in ~/App_Data/Content/ my guess would be that Windows is playing a prank on you and that the IIS pool of the live environment either:
Doesn't have permission to access the App_Data/Content folder, or
That permissions from your dev server have been copied to the live server so that the IIS app pool doesn't have permission to the copied files.

How to deploy a web site on IIS by using .dll file

I want to deploy on IIS my web site but I do not want to take whole project. I just need to take .dll file. Is their any way to do so.
I do not want to use visual studio only .dll file from the project to deploy.
The basic steps for deploying to IIS on windows server are as follows:
log onto the machine that is or will be hosting your application.
Use IIS Manager to create a new website for your application.
Create a new application in that site. I believe this also will automatically create an application pool with the same name for you and use it by default.
Specify the virtual directory for your application. This is going to tell IIS where to look for your mvc application. For this case lets assume it is C:\myApp
On your own machine Build the application however you build it with the correct solution configuration (i.e. Release mode). Let say the result of your build is located at C:\MyProject\bin
Copy C:\MyProject\bin from your machine onto your hosting machine at C:\myApp
You should be able to search these steps and find a step by step guide of how to accomplish them. Here is a link to some info on what sites, applications and app pools are to help you better understand.
http://www.iis.net/learn/get-started/planning-your-iis-architecture/understanding-sites-applications-and-virtual-directories-on-iis
Based on your sites requirements there will be some additional steps to set up security and alter bindings if you need to change them.
You don't need to deploy your entire website if you only make a change in a single assembly. You could copy the .DLL assembly directly to the bin folder of your website. This will trigger the Application Pool to be recycled in IIS and the changes will be taken into effect on the next request.

dropbox does not sync subfolder anymore?

I noticed one regression(?) recently - I have been using symbolic link in dropbox directory pointing to data directories, something like this - my_dropout_dire/dir1 ====> /path1/data_dir1
There is a directory tree under /path1/data_dir1, whenever there is file update, adding new file or adding new sub directory, I can get auto sync on my other linked computers.
But this stops working recently, since maybe couple weeks back. I have to add a new symbolic link to make it work:
my_dropout_dir/dir1_sub1_sub11 ====> /path1/data_dir1/sub1/sub11
If I do not do this, new files in sub11 is not sync'ed to other computers, and I do not see them on dropbox web repo either.
Does anyone also notice this?
According to Dropbox at this page: https://www.dropbox.com/help/145/en
Junction points and aliases
Dropbox will follow Windows junction points (Windows Vista or later) and sync the files or folders they link to. However, any changes to those files or folders made from the Windows operating system will not sync again until the Dropbox desktop application is restarted. To get around this, move the original folder to your Dropbox and add a junction point from its previous location to link to its new location in the Dropbox folder.
I had junctions too and they were working fine till some days ago, but apparently they were not supposed to.
tl;dr I use Dropbox with Windows symbolic links and junctions. While the Dropbox client does NOT detect any file changes during the day, it checks and syncs subfolders and files when it starts up OR RESUMES.
The files sync under the following conditions:
I restart my laptop EVERY morning, and when Dropbox client auto-starts, it syncs up the subfolders and files.
If I need to sync files during the day, I "pause syncing" in the Dropbox client and immediately resume it - and this syncs up the subfolders/files.
Not the ideal process, but it works.
PS: I've only tried symbolic links with folders on my local machine, not remote machines.
FWIW (as of a few months back) none of the other clients I tried with (Google Drive, Copy) recognized Windows symbolic links and junctions.
Dropbox version: v2.10.52; OS: Windows 8.1

Having local and remote versions of my site in Aptana Studio 3.0, like Dreamweaver does it

In Dreamweaver I could set up a project such that I had the remote side, where my live site would be located, and the local side, where those same exact files resided on my hard drive with the same structure. How can I do this in Aptana Studio 3.0? I only know how to access a site remotely, so I can edit the files just fine, but I can't figure out how to have a permanent home on my hard drive for the files, so I can (for example) upload new files to my server without opening up a separate FTP program.
On their site, Aptana touts the following as one of the new features of Aptana Studio 2.0:
Radically improved the remotelocal file transfer features. There is an all-new UI and infrastructure for specifying connections, connecting them with projects, and copying files in each direction.
That sounds like what I want to do, but can't figure it out.
There are a few wiki pages on creating connections between a local project and a FTP site:

https://wiki.appcelerator.org/display/tis/Create+a+FTP+Connection

Hope these help.
