Is there a way to fix files not showing as available? (WITHOUT PROJECT FILE) - labview

Good day,
At work we were using a valve testing program for well over 20 years and all worked perfectly until we reached measurement #10000.
By the looks of it if the serial number is higher than 9999, it doesn't show up anymore in the files list:
The problem is that we don't have the original project file.
So we tried to delete any reference to the latest serial number we could (cfg, ini files) deleting all the previous measurements, even copying the whole folder from another laptop that hasn't reached 10k but nothing worked.
Right now the only solution that works is renaming the newest file and i also can change the initials from for example "EA" to "AB"
So is there a way to reset the increments? or is it possible to change what files it looks for without the project file?
Edit: LabVIEW version is probably 7.0

Docusaurus locale Fr always falls back to English in new projects

I am fairly new to Docusaurus. I created my first documentation site in May 2022 with Docusaurus v2 and with a bit of trial and error (getting folder name and filenames exact etc) I managed to get it working in English and French and with versioning. During this process Docusaurus 2 upgraded several times.
Now I am trying to make two other sites and in both cases they always fall back to English when I run the locale Fr (npm run start -- --locale fr).
I have checked folder names and filenames and they all match. As a test I copied some files from the third site to the first site and they work as expected. The only way I can get French in the two new sites is to put them in the docs (English) folder. This is not ideal but is a workaround.
I am wondering if it is a bug when starting from the newer updates? However, no-one else seems to have written in with similar problems. So it may be something I am doing but I just can't see what I am doing wrong. The site I originally created has upgraded to the newest and continues to work, it is just the newer sites that were created with the updates that aren't working.
Has anyone else seen this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Edit:
As I said, I am new to Docusaurus, so the problem was my misunderstanding of the file structure. My first working site had versioning as well two locales, so the files were correctly in a current folder. My next sites didn't have versioning so I didn't have the French in a current folder. Once the files were moved the problem was solved.
If you look carefully at the diagram (https://docusaurus.io/docs/api/plugins/#docusaurus/plugin-content-docs#i18n) it does say to put translated files in a current folder, and then it has versions folder directly below.
Whereas the English is very different. It doesn't have current and has the version files in a very separate folder.
Thanks to Joshua for his help.

VB.net: Is there a way to get the Printed File Path from Printform?

im working on my first big program. I will try to explain short how the important part of the program works, and then try to explain what my problem is.
My program is used by few people, they drive around the Europe and repair our machines. After the work, they start my program, and write a report. Until now the program was generating at the end 3 Files. (PDF file generated by printform, text file which contained the same information's again and the last file that was an Excel file, that one contained Data that was written inside the Datagridview.
These workers, used Email to send all 3 files separated. As you imagine, sometimes that can end bad, cause after work they are tired and sometimes they send the wrong files. So I made a upgrade, which gives the user a possibility to send the files directly from the Program, being sure everything is fine. In background I created a directory where 2 of 3 files always get saved. The problem is, while using printform, there opens a window where the user can select the path. And here start the troubles, some of the workers select different a different path, but then my program wont find the files again(its very important that are 3 files are together). I searched for something that would look like
dim printformpath as string = printform.getpath
is there something that works that way? I was searching but I didn't found anything helpful.
Thank you for understanding & help
Thanks, I added the path to the printFileName property and changed printform settings from Print to preview to print to file :)
Have a nice day

Move file in one AccuRev workspace that has been edited in another workspace

We have a need to refactor a code base. The thing is that this will be done by one person and it would be desirable to avoid having the rest of the development team sitting idle while this job takes place.
We therefore tried the following scenario to see if it is possible to work in parallel.
Created file test.txt in directory first in developer A's workspace.
Promoted this file.
Updated developer B's workspace, thereby getting file test.txt
In A's workspace moved file test.txt to directory second.
Promoted this move.
In B's workspace edited file test.txt while it still resides in directory first (no update is made thereby emulating that work is done while refactoring is taking place).
Tried to promote and got a message saying that file test.txt had been modified (correct, file has been moved).
Tried to merge but got an error message saying that AccuRev can't merge since the file is missing in directory second (where it has been moved).
Tried to update B's workspace but that is not allowed since there is a modified file that needs to be merged first.
We are now stuck in a catch 22 situation.
We did try to place a fake file in directory second but that is not being recognized since this file does not belong to the workspace.
Has anyone out there tried something like this and gotten it to work?
It is of course possible to copy files but if there is a better way we would be grateful to hear about this. Or if this is a known bug or limitation in the tool.
We will contact also contact AccuRev support but I thought that I might be able to get some useful tips from the community.
Currently we are using AccuRev client 5.5.0.
Thanks for any suggestions on how to make the tool support this operation.
Referring to your steps 6 & 7: In AccuRev 5.5 after a file is edited and has a (modified) status you first have to keep before you can promote.
At step 8 you could try doing the merge from the Browse Versions view of the file. That way you can select any node to merge with, including the one that has been moved.
Step 9. An AccuRev update will not run successfully if one of the files to be updated is (modified). This is by design. You can keep the file so it has (kept)(member) status then run the update.
David Howland
After contact with AccuRev support the answer is that the only option available is to copy the file to some temp directory, revert the changes, update the workspace and copy the file into the new location in the workspace.
AccuRev will at least tell you which files you have to copy since they will be marked as modified.
I could experimentally verify David's remark to step 9 using AccuRev 5.5.
Let's assume that in the workspace of user A the file was moved and the move was promoted, while in the workspace of user B the file was modified and user B is about to promote his/her change.
Before the file is kept, it will not be possible for user B neither to merge nor to update. But after keeping the modified file the update is possible. The file is first marked as overlap, then the merge succeeds in the new location. Basically, this avoids creating a copy of the file, reverting it and restoring it in the new location after an update, which can be quite cumbersome, as AccuRev does not reveal easily where the move goes.
If user B promotes the modification before user A promotes the move, all goes smoothly, i.e. on update the moved file appears as overlap, but easily merges into the moved file in the new location.
Similar results are obtained when the two users have workspaces connected to different streams and the overlap occurs on a common parent stream. Only if the file is unkept, an error can occur (i.e. only if the move is promoted before the change). Then a simple keep allows to proceed as usual (update, merge, then promote).

Prevent file being overwritten

Imagine there are 3 or more independent locations where a file can be modified. These locations communicate to each other through email or mail (direct flash drive restoration). Though there is a big room for flow - to make simultaneous editing to the file and screw up things, this client won't change too much. He rather call everyone that he is working on the last update or tell the other guys that he is waiting for third guy's last update. Anyway, at some point after several exchanges, due to one of participants unintentional error THE LAST VERSION of the file eventually gets mixed up. From this point everyone searches for the last version BY LOOKING THE CONTENT of the file.
This client wants to have a central location (he has actually, that is his PC's some location) and let everybody (including himself) copy any new or suspected new file to this location but prevent file's last version being copied. From this location he has to easily copy, send or open the file and work.
So, here is my concept (2 steps):
step 1: I made an ad to the main application where this file is created or edited. This ad prompts the user to give a version number to the file with every invoked save command from the editing application. In fact the file can be re-saved multiple times but not considered modified (file attributes creation, save etc. do not have great meaning here). This said the user can cancel my ad-in but have saved the file, not saving a new file version.
step 2: multiple solutions:
solution A: I'm thinking to have a folder/file watch and prevent the last version of the file being overwritten. As you know, FileSystemWatcher will fire the change/delete etc., events AFTER FACT so, I have to back copy overwritten file after the fact (w/ some tricks).
solution B: have a database to store all version of files and built-in some shell extension to extract/view files from the database. Move all copied/pasted files to the database (my program folder) and restore latest file in working folder after watcher fires change/delete event.
solution 3: find out built-in windows tools (API etc.) to greatly rely on it with some programming.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Word error when processing multiple documents

Right now we have a program that opens all of the word files in a folder and adds some information to the footer. After switching from Windows XP and Word 2003 to Windows 7 and Word 2007 we have started getting the following error:
Run-time error '5096':
EOALPHABETICARABICARABICABJADARABICALPHABAHTTEXTCAPSCA
(c:\Users...\Content.MSO\8BE508C6.docx)
It occurs at random in any of the files (you can be 10 files in or 100). I thought that it might be a problem with the files being on a network drive so I modified the program to copy each file locally first, add the footer to that copy, and then copy it back out to the network. However, that didn't seem to work. I'm looking for any suggestions on how to fix the problem or possibly rewrite the solution. However, I need to keep the solution in VBA since this app is part of a bigger suite which in not ready for a .NET re-write.
As it turns out I was able to workaround this problem by copying the word files locally, running the main code on the local copies, then copying them back out to the network. It didn't seem to be working at first because the user's machine on which I tested it did not have the most recent version of the program.
Adding this note for those still looking for answers to this error...
I have a macro that creates several docs from one that is open based on sections in the main document.
I was getting the Run-time error '5096' and was an able to find any solutions that worked.
Upon further examination while debugging the code I discovered that while pulling data out of the main doc and building a file name that there was a carriage return after the file name and before the extension. After adding a replace statement to remove carriage returns I am able to process documents all day without an error.
I have found that the error is caused by the total number of characters in the file name is too long. This usually occurs when manipulating file names and the full path is set in the variable. I will manually chop pieces out of real long names to force it to work.
I suppose if I were smart, I'd move into the directory and just deal with the file names without the directory prepended to the name.
