I haven't found good supporting documentation or any one else with this specific request. I am looking for a way in visual basic to create a folder on a SMB fileshare using windows credentials to authenticate for the folder to be made.
I did find this which is great but I only found ways for this to make a folder on local C drive only:
System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory
If someone can assist with getting me started or where to look for documentation.

So, as part of my daily jobs, I have to transfer a one file from our customers server to our internal server and any responses back.
Each customer effectively has one file up and one file down each day.
I have an SFTP server here that I can use and is already used manually for a few sites.
I'm looking to automate as many sites as possible using batch files on a scheduled task.
Initially, I'm looking at automating the internal side of the process.
We simple have a requests folder that needs to import from the SFTP (then delete the original on the SFTP) and a response folder which needs to copy to a 'sent' folder and then export to the SFTP (also, deleteing the original)
On the SFTP server I have a "to site" and "from site" folder. Each file is site specific followed by a variable. So SiteNameImport.<variable> and SiteNameExport.<variable>
EDIT:
I'm asking this as I'm a novice at scripting and basically have no idea what to do.
I've tried reading the automation guide on WinSCP website but a lot of it means nothing to me.
Filezilla doesn't support automation, You're better off with WinSCP. They have some scripting examples here as well as any other information you'll need to build the scripts functionality. You'll just need to add the specifics (Like deleting sent files and so on) CuteFTP is also another solution you can script with but I believe you have to pay for a licence. I suggest VBscript, Examples can be found Here for vbscript.
I have a windows form application that requires users to log in to access the information. I have created a local compact database file for the credentials to be stored. I added the database file to my the folder but when I open my application and try to log in it tells me that it cannot find the database file.
Should the file be stored on a different folder, or should I need to install an instance of sql on the user computer.
This is my first deployment so I am not sure how to go about it. I have done some research on the subject, but it does not seem related to my issue. The help section of Intallshield was not clear either.
I am looking for some resources on how to accomplish this.
I figure out the issue, in order to work all files, including the database files need to be dumped under the userprofile folder.
I've a very simple application built in MVC4. This application allow the users to upload a file, and the application generates an output.
This app works great locally, but when I publish to azure (by right click -> publish), I get a less descriptive error. I've figured out that the error was because in the code, we accessed to a server relative path, and that is not possible in azure. So I've found a way to solve that in this link, that says that I should use LocalResource, rather than Server.MapPath. That make sense for me, but so far, I'm struggling with the suggested line.
LocalResource localResource = RoleEnvironment.GetLocalResource("DownloadedTemplates");
I'm not able to get it working, and also can't get a proper error. BTW I'm not sure how to enable the error log in azure :(
So, after going deeper in MSDN, I've seen that I should configure the Local Storage Resources, but as I've created a local MVC4 project, I can't find where I should configure this.
I need to be able to store a temporary file in the application (hosted in azure).
Did someone faced with this problem?
Anybody knows how to enable the Local Storage Resource in a project like that?
TIA!

Well, after struggling a while, I've ended up using Windows Azure Tools.
The steps:
Add a new project
Under Cloud category, select Windows Azure Cloud Service.Note that if you don't have this option, an option to install the needed SDK will be shown. Install it first.
Name it properly :)
New Windows Azure Cloud Service window will appear, select the role that fits your needs. In my case, I choose ASP.Net MVC4, and then removed it.Note that you can edit the name of the created role at the right.
In the Roles folder of your new project, select Add, and then Web Role Project in solution. Your project will be an option to add.
You can remove the other role in the folder, the web project created in step 4, and also the folder ending in Content (ie. WebRole1Content). Basically, you can remove the created assets, but the Azure Service, and link the service to your project.
You're almost done. Follow this link to configurate your local storage :)
Now you're done!
Could anybody explain to me the process of uploading to and downloading form and ftp server with the iPhone SDK. If you could just point me in the right direction (e.g. documentation etc.). How difficult is a task like this?
Thanks in advance.
You can use this. It support all the basic ftp operations:
Download file
Upload file
Delete file
Delete directory
Create directory
List directory contents
[DISCLAIMER] I am the developer of the library, I needed a ftp library too in the past and came over this answer. However, I decided to write one myself because s7ftprequest didn't support at that point several operations that I needed.(like download or list directory)
Try this Simple FTP Download
The Apple documentation will provide far more info in general than I could. Have a look at:
http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/Networking/Conceptual/CFNetwork/CFFTPTasks/CFFTPTasks.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP30001132-CH9-SW1
which details the FTP information you need. If you prefer a PDF with all the networking info in it, have a look at:
http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/Networking/Conceptual/CFNetwork/CFNetwork.pdf
In this, you'll be particularly interested in Chapter 5. Both detail working with FTP sites, including uploading, downloading, retrieving directory listings, etc.
s7ftprequest only for uploading files to FTP.
The below is sample code from apple
http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#samplecode/SimpleFTPSample/Introduction/Intro.html
Limitations:
FTPS (that is, FTP over TLS)
deleting items
renaming items
other less common FTP commands
custom FTP commands
I ended up using GoldRacoon. It turns out that in iOS/objc land, there's BlackRaccoon as the original FTP client lib, then WhiteRaccoon was forked from that, and then GoldRacoon was forked from WhiteRaccoon (I think)
pod search GoldRaccoon
... will show you.
I ended up making a few changes (in my own fork) so that you can pass in a successBlock & failBlock into any request, so that block-y callers (like my classes) don't have extra work to manage the delegate callbacks. Github link (my fork): https://github.com/xaphod/GoldRaccoon
The answer to this may be a link to a good tutorial, but I've been unable to find one and it's getting rather frustrating.
I'd like to dive into the source code of DotNetNuke 5.2 which I have downloaded to a folder. I've opened up the solution that ships with it and it opens & compiles just fine.
What are the recommended steps for:
Setting up the database for this
source/compiled version of DotNetNuke?
Configuring IIS 7 (on the local
machine) to run/serve the site?
(Windows 7, VS2008, SQL-Server-2005, DotNetNuke 5.2)
FOr the setup you will follow the standard installation process, using the /website folder as the root for the configuration within IIS.
I have an installation tutorial on my blog that you can use, the specific tutorial is for 5.0.0, but the installation process is the same. The short order process is as follows.
Create a database and SQL user for the database, giving them DBO permissions
Setup a virtual directory in IIS that points to the /website folder of your dnn installation
Grant the ASP.NET worker process account full permissions to the /website folder
Navigate to the /install/installwizard.aspx page, follow the instructions and set the database values for what you specified in number 1 above.
NOTE: the use of a source version of DNN for production use is not recommended, additionally it is my personal recommendation to not modify the source, unless you are truly willing to accept that future upgrades might not be possible due to your modifications.
Expanding on Mitchel's Answer:
Create a database and SQL user for the database, giving them DBO permissions
Go into DNN/Website folder. Copy release.config and name the copy web.config
Setup a virtual directory in IIS that points to the /website folder of your dnn installation
Open the solution and compile the project
Grant the ASP.NET worker process account full permissions to the /website folder (NETWORK SERVICE)
Had to give users group read/write/modify access to the entire website folder otherwise I got some errors about file access. This is more than is necessary but it worked.
Navigate to the /install/installwizard.aspx page, follow the instructions and set the database values for what you specified in number 1 above.
Edit: This is as of version 5.2 available 2/25/2010
