When requesting GetMultipleItems is it possible to retrieve discount information? - ebay-api

I am trying to access the special discounts that sellers offer when you buy multiple products from their shop.
I am using GetMultipleItems to get the data on a large set of books and their prices however a lot of the products we buy are a lot cheaper when multiple products are purchased form one seller. I would like to reflect that price in my software so getting these offers from the API would be incredibly useful.

Shopify - New order using the Shopify API - how to know tax and shipping?

We have built an e-commerce web application (Node backend, Vue frontend). We process the payment using Stripe, but many brands have asked us if the order and inventory control can be done in Shopify. We are trying to figure out the best way integrate a payment module into Shopify so that the brand can manage the fulfilment and inventory through Shopify.
It seems we should use the Order API to create an order and mark it as paid. But how do we know that the product is in stock, and what are the cost for shipping and tax from Shopify when creating the order? I think we can use the Product API to get inventory levels, but where is the shipping and tax endpoints?
If I understand the Order API correctly, we need to tell Shopify what are the shipping costs and tax costs, when a new order is created. Is that right? How could we possibly know those figures? Seems like there should be an endpoint to calculate shipping costs and get a product's tax rates so that we can then pass those figures back into the Order API. Am I missing something?
I thought maybe we are supposed to create an order that has financial_status: pending first to get shipping and tax rates back (does it even give you those?), then update the order to either cancel_reason: customer or cancel_reason: inventory if those rates are too expensive and the order is declined? But surely we need to know what shipping methods are available to the customer in order to tell Shopify which one to use, right? Or does it by default choose the cheapest one when creating an order?

We know the customers shipping address
We don't know where the product is warehoused (Shopify does I think)
We don't know the weights or dimensions of the product (Shopify does I think)
This answer is a little bit late, but i hope, i can help others that are struggling with the same issue.
First i would recommend to set up all Shipping Rates and Taxes in Shopify. There are plenty of manuals to achieve this:

After this there are different possibilities to calculate your shipping and tax cost.
Your shipping cost can you get via the active_shipping API, which can be found here:

However, you may need to know size and storage location for theese solutions.
The taxes can you get via the country in the Admin API, there is a specific key-value pair for this:

eBay API RelistFixedPriceItem vs AddFixedPriceItem when updating quantity

I am building a system that publishes products from our inventory to our eBay seller account. Everything is working fine, but I just keep thinking which call should I use when I update the quantity in our inventory.
RelistFixedPriceItem and AddFixedPriceItem both are working well, except that on eBay I will have same item with two different itemID, one is sold and one is active...
is that ok? Does it have something to do with eBay listing terms?

AddFixedPriceItem creates a new listing that does not include any data regarding the previous listing's statistics or sales data. RelistFixedPriceItem will create a listing for the product that does include the sales data from the original listing.
The eBay best match search engine uses a listing's sales stats as part of its algorithm to determine search standing. So if your original listing had a good number of views or sales, I would definitely recommend using ReslistFixedPriceItem. However, if your previous listings was stagnant for a long time without many views or sales, it might be more advantageous to use AddFixedPriceItem instead to give the listing a clean slate.
eBay is always changing their search algorithms, so there is no hard and fast rule here. You really just have to find out what works best for your particular products. Experimentation is key.

Where is the information located in Magento on a sales order for discount information on the API

I just want to start out this post by saying that I am not a programmer, nor do I play one on TV. I have found this site because I have been trying to manage our Magento instance, after pretty much left high and dry by the developers we had building this for us. I will try and explain it the best I can below:
When we apply a shopping cart coupon to the sales order, and the discount is applied to each item, a new line item total is configured by Magento. We then have a connector that takes the information from Magento's API and it is then connected to Open Bravo, which is our ERP accounting software. Open Bravo is grabbing the information as it normally does, however it doesn't see the discount information, so the order total is different in our accounting program then what Magento has. Open Bravo is teling me they need to know where the discounted amount on the sales order in Magento is on the API. It's obviously in a different spot then the standard sales order amount.
I might be able to describe a little better if you hit me with questions. Any help you could provide would be highly appreciated. Maybe we could barter for some office supplies, as that is what we sell.

It seems that your ERP is storing "base_grand_total" value in stead of "grand_total".

Vendor specific pricing on Shopify

A client of mine has a service-oriented ecommerce site on Shopify and he's asked me to assist in making a few changes. I've never utilized the service so I'm not really familiar with it.
The price list was static at first since the client used the same vendor however now that they're growing - and therefore using multiple vendors - the costs are fluctuating and therefore the prices on Shopify need to reflect that.
I need to set it up so that when a customer logs on a vendor is programmatically chosen based on their geographic location and the prices (shown to the customer) adjust accordingly.
Is this possible? And if so, what objects/API docs should I be looking at. I seems as if I can easily hard code this with IF statements but I'd like this to scale cleanly so I'm looking for a more efficient solution.

The easiest way would be to create a Product Variant for each region. Based on the customer.default_address you could find the customers ZIP code. Next step would be to use this within the product.liquid template to select the correct variant.
The biggest problem you have is determining their location. When a customer logs in, you know who they are, so you could dish out only products of interest to them. Problem is, how do you lump people into those regions? You have your work cut out there. When you create a customer you can assign them any code you want, so perhaps you could just match customers to vendors using a match on that. Lump any customers into GroupA and you show only products with Vendor GroupA, any customers assigned to GroupB render products from vendor GroupB....etc

Is there a way to get details of the product from single insudtry?

I want to maintain a database of all the products or the brands with respect to industry.
For example I need to get information about all the food supplements. How can I get them?
I am not sure all the companies have an API for their products.

Uhm,... what kind of information? If you need prices, you can probably get information from goverment sources. At least you can here in Argentina. Other than that, I don't think it's possible, unless you somehow manage to scrape websites of all the brands you want to track.
Speaking as someone who has worked for two data-aggregation companies, aggregating data involves a lot of manual work. You find the sources, you automate the acquisition of data as best you can (APIs, file downloads and imports, even screen scraping from HTML pages), and you stay on top of it constantly. You're always looking for additional sources, updating code for sources that have changed, minding legal implications of sources who don't want you to harvest their data, etc.
Sometimes you have to buy the data, or weigh that cost against not having data from that source or scraping it manually. Sometimes a source will block you in some way and you need to either try to get around that or negotiate some terms with them. It's a viable business model, but it's not cheap.
For some products, Retailigence ( http://www.retailigence.com ) may have data in API form. They basically keep track of local stores' inventory and pricing for certain categories of products.
