Flatlist scrolls automatically to the first item - react-native

<FlatList
data={categoryData}
horizontal
showsHorizontalScrollIndicator={false}
pagingEnabled
bounces={false}
renderItem={({ item }) => (
<HomeTabCategoryItem
categorySelected={categorySelected}
setCategorySelected={setCategorySelected}
item={item}
/>
)}
keyExtractor={(item) => item.id}
/>
This the code that I am using but whenever I try to scroll right it automatically scrolls back to leftmost

Done...
just remove pagingEnabled

Flastlist issue showing posts one by one

I'm using flatlist to show a feed of posts (like tiktok), the issue is that sometimes is showing up a part of the second post instead of scroll down to it. See the picture below:
That issue happens when I'm scrolling down faster.
Flatlist code:
<FlatList
showsVerticalScrollIndicator={false}
data={videos}
keyExtractor={(item, index) => index.toString()}
onEndReachedThreshold={3}
onEndReached={() => {
if (!isFetching) {
debouncedFetchMore();
}
}}
snapToInterval={PICTURE_HEIGHT}
disableIntervalMomentum
viewabilityConfig={viewabilityConfig}
onViewableItemsChanged={onViewableItemsChanged}
onRefresh={() => getPosts('video', FetchMode.REFRESH)}
refreshing={false}
//Optimization
renderItem={renderItem}
removeClippedSubviews
initialNumToRender={1}
maxToRenderPerBatch={2}
windowSize={2}
// Scrolling fixes
decelerationRate="fast"
snapToAlignment="start"
overScrollMode="never"
bounces
scrollEventThrottle={8}
getItemLayout={(_, index) => ({
length: PICTURE_HEIGHT,
offset: PICTURE_HEIGHT * index,
index,
})}
pagingEnabled
ref={refFlatList}
/>

React-Native FlatList issues in RTL view

I have a Horizontal FlatList and in RTL view the FlatList just constantly call onEndReached method but that's not the case in LTR view.
It's a big issue that's not solved https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/19979
Did anyone try to find a workaround for this issue ?
Here is my implementation:
<FlatList
horizontal
directionalLockEnabled
data={recommendedPosts}
onRefresh={handleRefresh}
refreshing={isRefreshing}
onEndReachedThreshold={0.5}
onEndReached={onEndReached}
keyExtractor={(item) => item?._id}
showsHorizontalScrollIndicator={false}
showsVerticalScrollIndicator={false}
ListHeaderComponentStyle={styles.footerStyle}
ListFooterComponentStyle={styles.footerStyle}
renderItem={({ item, index }) => (
<AdGridCard
ad={item}
containerStyle={styles.recommendedCard}
onPress={() => goToDetails(item?._id, index)}
/>
)}
contentContainerStyle={styles.contentContainerStyle}
getItemLayout={(d, index) => {
return { length: hp(250), offset: index * hp(250), index };
}}
ListFooterComponent={<LoadingComponent isLoading={loading} />}
ItemSeparatorComponent={() => <View style={styles.separator} />}
/>

Last item in React native flat list goes beyond screen

I have a flatlist with some styles on the outer containers as follows.
<View style={containerStyle}>
// more jsx components come here
<View style={resultContainerStyle}>
<FlatList
data={results}
keyExtractor={(item) => (item.id && item.id.toString())}
renderItem={({ item, index }) => (
<ListItem
item={item}
selectItem={selectItem}
/>
)}
/>
</View>
</View>
The issue is that the last values of the list go beyond the view of the screen and there is no way to view it unless a fixed height is put on the parent container. Is it possible to do this without a fixed height.
A SafeAreaView can be used to limit the view to the "safe" areas of the screen(avoiding the notch and curved bottom. Checkout the following example
<SafeAreaView style={containerStyle}>
// more jsx components come here
<View style={resultContainerStyle}>
<FlatList
data={results}
keyExtractor={(item) => (item.id && item.id.toString())}
renderItem={({ item, index }) => (
<ListItem
item={item}
selectItem={selectItem}
/>
)}
/>
</View>
</SafeAreaView>
more examples can be found at the react native docs.

how to resove the scroll conflict between scrollview and flatList in React Native

I have a flatList and some views in the scrollView, how to make when the flatList scroll to top, we start to scroll flatList not scrollView.
<ScrollView>
<View>
// some child views
</View>
<FlatList
data={this.props.sourceData}
renderItem={this._renderItem}
/>
<View>
.... // some child views
</View>
the scroll conflict is complex, you can try to move the header views into FlatLIst
ListHeaderComponent, and the footer views into the ListFooterComponent
<FlatList
data={DATA}
ListHeaderComponent={"your header component"}
renderItem={({ item }) => <Item title={item.title} />}
keyExtractor={item => item.id}
ListFooterComponent={"your bottom views"}
/>
you can also read my question, in the description I give some solution. I hope it can help you

React Native FlatList Warning

Im trying to implement a FlatList with dynamic item sizes, to be more specific, my items sometimes take the full screen width and sometimes only half of it, thus setting numColumns={2} isn't working, my workaround looks like this:
<FlatList
ListHeaderComponent={this.header}
keyExtractor={item => item.id.toString()}
data={data}
contentContainerStyle={{ flexDirection: 'row' }}
renderItem={({ item }) => <Item item={item} />}
/>
everything is working as expected, the width of an item is applied via item.width. However the issue is that every time it's rendering the list, im getting this log warning:
Warning: `flexWrap: `wrap`` is not supported with the `VirtualizedList` components.Consider using `numColumns` with `FlatList` instead.
Does anybody know how this is affecting the performance of the list and if it has an affect, how I can improve my code ?
This is how I would like it to look like:
to fix numColumns={2} you have to set with it horizontal={false}
so it becomes
<FlatList
ListHeaderComponent={this.header}
keyExtractor={item => item.id.toString()}
data={data}
horizontal={false}
numColumns={2}
contentContainerStyle={{ flexDirection: 'row' }}
renderItem={({ item }) => <Item item={item} />}
/>
