While applying, approving/rejecting the leave sometimes the emails are sent from the odoo14 system, but there is no mail template or mail sending functionality found in the leave module. Does anyone know how it's working? Images of the mail are below.
You can find the post message for leave acceptance here and for leave refusing here
The message_post method respect the user's preference. If the user changes the notification option from the user preferences in user form to Handle by Odoo rather than Handle by Emails, the user will not receive emails; instead, they will receive notifications in Odoo's UI.
I came across a newsletter in which they have a WhatsApp link and when i click on it i am able send predefined message to predefined number.
SEND INQUIRY VIA WHATSAPP button is linked to below for example
https://whatsapp://send?phone=XXXXXXXX&text=Hi%2C%20this%20is%20test%20message.
Can i use this link in my newsletter without any restriction as i have a database of 2000 subscribers...
or i have to use some sort of verified mechanism using API so that whatsapp is not abused.
This link seems to be vulnerable and can be used for spam or its fine to use it
your URL is basically mal-formed.
The whatsapp:// is a kind-of protocol for transmitting information, and what you can do is to add it to a webpage as a link, so the visitor, upon clicking on that link from their phone, can access directly to Whatsapp.
Remember the oldie-goldie mailto:// which allow visitors to directly open the mail client they have on their computer, and pre-fill some email fields? This is the same.
Here is a really simple code-pen showing how can this be achieved.
Be sure to visit the codepen from your mobile:

Replying to your specific question, there's no limitation on the use of this, since the executor will be each one of your subscribers, not your webserver. The only limitation will be your own phone, because if all of those 2,000 subscribers reply using the whatsapp link... you'll get 2,000 messages :D
We are currently using Branch IO for our attribution of app installations. However, we have seen some troubling elements regarding tracking - specifically, that link context is lost in some flows. This seems to have started when we integrated the Web SDK.
The flow is as follows:
From within our iOS application (that has Branch integrated), I initiate an SMS to be sent to myself (a branch link with some referral parameters including campaign)
After the SMS is sent, I delete the application from my phone.
I reset my Advertiser ID on my phone and clear my browser cookies
I click the link in my SMS messages (and this initiates tracking event in Branch Dashboard). The link eventually drops me onto a page that I control, which ALSO has the Branch WebSDK installed. This fires page events.
I then click the button on the page that takes me to the app store, install the application, and then fire it up.
I see in the dashboard that an install event has occurred, but it does NOT associate it with the initial campaign from the SMS.
Is this expected? My current theory is that the WebSDK fires a new event, which now is tracked by Branch as the latest event and since the WebSDK doesn't have any of the tracking parameters from the SMS campaign, it gets lost.
I have tried to debug this but once it goes into Branch, I'm not sure how to tell where things are lost. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I'm not sure where to begin, but got a case I need help from others where and if possible to solve.
Thing is, got a new alarm system at home, this system uses sms function so I can send a short code to my alarm asking for status if it`s ON or OFF, or i can turn it on/off from an sms.
Since both the sms number and code is strictly personal, I would not like to tell my carpenter the codes, but in the mean while he is working at my home, I can give him a login to my site, where he can see if the alarm is turned on or even turn it on/off by him self.
I would like to build me a website, that does the same.
Got a login to my site, when logged in, i would like the website to send an sms automatically, then retrieve the answer and display it on the website.
Is this even possible ? If so, anyone can past me in the right direction here ?
Thanks in advance =)
You can send an SMS from a website. Most mobile operators will gladly offer you an apropriate API.
For instance Deutsche Telekom has an API called "Developer Garden" that allows you to send SMS via a WebService and much more.
see here for an example: www.developergarden.com
Other providers may also offer such services.
you need an sms gateway ( we use these guys : http://inteltech.com.au/, but nearly any will do )
Your easiest option is to find one where you can insert SMS'es for sending via a URL, eg in our case the URL looks like this:
http://inteltech.com.au/secure-api/send.single.php?username=[user]&key=[longcode]&method=http&senderid=[id]&sms=[phonenumber]&message=[here's the message]
it's extremely simple to use. If your site handles the login otherwise, then you can use this for the rest.
Now, how to receive SMS'es is a bit tricker :)
But this provider, for example, offers you options to;
Send the reply as an email to a nominated email address.
Send the reply as an email to the original user who sent the message.
Send the reply as an SMS to a nominated mobile number.
POST the reply to your website or application . e.g. We can call a http/https request to your script
as you can see, both the email and the POST options are providing great ways to integrate.
I'd say if you don't handle incoming email already, then stick to the POST method.
voila :)
I have a single authorize.net account, and I have 5 different e-commerce applications tied to that account. Some are posting from a public site and some are posting from managed access sites. I am using SIM and I have read about the Relay Response, but as far as I can tell I can only have one URL listed. That will not work for me as I need a different URL for each different point of entry into the e-commerce system.
My problem at the moment is that I need to update a datafield via a guid upon successful payment completion to confirm purchase of a digital item, but if I put in a relay response page it is getting sent to all my access points and throwing errors. Other parts of the e-commerce system need to send different emails upon completion etc, plus all the urls are different at the top level.
Is there some other way of accomplishing this task that I am overlooking?
Use Silent Post*. It's Authorize.Net's equivalent of Paypal's IPN. It will only post to one URL per account but it happens behind the scenes. This means you can send a custom flag along with each transaction identifying which site the purchase is for and then have it respond accordingly (e.g. send emails, update database, etc).
