I have a quiz built on WordPress. After a user takes the quiz the results will be mailed to the user's email address as a PDF. So the PDF is not supporting the custom fonts (II Voorkurs). We have used all options such as #fontface etc.. but still not working.
The second issue is that the content on the PDF is dynamic (text length varies as per the user test score). So this makes some elements break when there is a page break in PDF.
Cann anyone help me out?

Visualforce page or email template has <apex:page renderAs="pdf"> attribute. Your safest choice of font will be "Arial Unicode MS", it's the only font with full unicode support. BUT it doesn't have bold variant so all your <b>, <th> etc will print with normal font weight.

Apex has similar method to pull another page (standard SF page or Visualforce) as PDF. But it'll be server-side generation, JavaScript on that page will not run so forget about some pretty printing of say aura components. Back to basics, raw HTML / Visualforce. PageReference.getContentAsPDF()
If it's not acceptable to you - there are some JavaScript PDF generators, for example jspdf (Git, demos) describes in Git readme how to integrate a custom font into it. These tend to be hit and miss, you'll have to experiment. And well, it'd be a JavaScript solution so then you'd need extra steps to save it to a file maybe or prompt download... And forget about making a VF email template with it, it'd have to be somehow saved to files/attachments first
We would like to add an image to our PDF in Orbeon. We explorered different tags and came up with tag. This worked the way we wanted but this tag keeps the PDF from building. We don't get any (visible) errors but a time-out occurs after couple of seconds.
To cross check: PDF build fine without the xh:img tag.
I was wondering what other options do we have. I thought about a PDF template but we would like to give the form author the option to choose his/hers own jpg from a web resource.
This is on 43PE.
User error yet we didn't change much after all.
Has anyone managed to provide an end-user with an updated PDF, allowing that user to transfer his local annotations to the new PDF and keeping the annotations on the correct page, even when there are pages inserted into the update PDF at a point earlier in the PDF than the annotations.
I thought there might be a page map or page guid approach that someone has used.

Instead of using the page index as ID of the page, you can use the page content stream instead (after decoding/decompression). Most PDF libraries will give you access to that, so you could compute an MD5 hash from the page content and search for that instead on your "updated" file in order to know where to transfer your annotations.
This is assuming that the page content will be indeed identical, which is not a common scenario.
I'm building a web application where users can search for pdf documents and view them with pdf.js. I would like to display the search results with a short snippet of the paragraph where the search term where found and a link to open the document at the right page.
So what I need is the page number and a short text snippet of every search result.
I'm using SOLR 4.1 to index pdf documents. The indexing itself works fine but I don't know how to get the page number and paragraph of a search result.
I found this here "Indexing PDF with page numbers with Solr" but it wasn't really helpfully.
I'm now splitting the PDF and sending each page separately to SOLR.
So every page is an own document with an id <id_of_document>_<page_number> and an additional field doc_id which contains only the <id_of_document> for grouping the results.
There is JIRA SOLR-380 with a Patch, which you can check upon.
I also tried getting the results with page number but could not do it. I used Apache PDFBox for splitting all the PDFs present in a directory and sending the files to Solr server.
I have not tried it myself.

Solr customer connector integrating with Apache Tika parser for indexing PDFs
Create multiple attributes in Solr like page1, page2, page3…,pageN – Alternatively, can use dynamic attributes in Solr
In the customer connector, read the PDFs, page by page, index them onto the respective page attributes/dynamic attributes
Enable search on all the “page” attributes
When user searches, use the “highlighter/Summary/Teaser” component to only retrieve “page” attributes that has hits
The “page” attributes that has a hit (find from highlighter/Summary/Teaser) for a given records are the pages that has the searched phrase.
Link the PDF with the “#PageNumber” of the PDF and pop up the page on click
A far better approach compared to splitting the PDFs and indexing them as separate Solr docs.

I am grabbing text data from XML files, and want it to display in book page-like format inside a UIWebView on iPad. The XML files are coming out of a .epub, and each one contains a single chapter of a book, divided up only by p tags.
I want to dynamically paginate these files into book-like pages based on the size of the UIWebView, which is a full iPad screen, as well as by user-selected font size. I am currently loading a blank html page with related css into a UIWebView, grabbing paragraphs based on number of characters as Strings from the XML, and printing these into the html using StringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString and the innerHTML property.
Obviously, doing this by number of characters creates improperly spaced, oddly formatted pages, but I'm not sure how else to "paginate" the text.
What I am looking to do is something akin to the app "eReader" on iPad:http://www.ereader.com/. They seem to be breaking a single file up into pages dynamically, and loading it into UIWebViews. How is this done?
Most EPUB readers that are based on UIWebView simply use CSS3 Columns to paginate the document.

The basic idea is that you 'columnize' the document and then scroll horizontally through it to show a specific page.
Having done this for one popular (Canadian) eReader application on the iPhone and iPad, I can tell you that the technique works but that it is far from ideal.
The code is already made. It is called epubjs. It is Javascript only epub reader.
Use UITextView with PageviewController . (specify your doubts in it , if any )
