I am unable to install extensions for VS Code. It worked, than stopped working. I examined the network tab in developer tools from command pallete -> shared process, no errors. I am behind a firewall and proxy at work, but manually installing should work nonetheless.
In install.log I find "One or more extensions are for Visual Studio Code. Try installing them in Visual Studio Code." That is excactly what I have been trying, it seems that VSIX can't understand that this extension is indeed meant for VS Code. Tried many different extensions.
Update after running suggestion from answer: Seems there is a compability issue, just wish this had been shown in the IDE directly.

You can try to open the .vsix extention file with vscode itself. Or you can run the command below from cmd with the correct path
code --install-extension <path\to\extention>

I'm not sure what are you using for install, but that's trying to install the vscode extention to Visual Studio Professional 2022 and Visual Studio Enterprise 2019. Keep in mind the Visual Studio is not the same as Visual Studio Code.

I had recently upgraded to Visual studio 2019 from 2017. The tests (xunit) was working fantastic until this update. But after updating, when i run my tests it just says "Outcomes Not Run".!!! strange, even it doesn't shows any details of any error under Output window, later found we have to manually change

Since I works in a very restrictive environment, understood i cant run any exes under that location since GP restriction. But got access to particular locations under C Drive.
Is there anyway I can change my testhost.exe file location? which visual studio can pickup the exe from a configured path?

I had set an environmental variable like below, where i set a new nuget-package source which my group policy allows me to run applications
This will automatically override the default location to newly setup location. Later restart the visual studio and rebuild the solution, it must add all the dependencies to new location. It worked for me. Not sure this issue will occur to anyone else, but maybe helpful, if someone with need.
While building the Windows environment for OsQuery (on my Windows 10 VM) from their website(link: https://osquery.readthedocs.io/en/stable/development/windows-provisioning/), I am getting the msb1009 error during the phase where I have to run the tools\make-win64-binaries.bat command. I get the following result after running that command:

Could you paste the full output of running the tools\make-win64-dev-env.bat and tools\make-win64-binaries.bat? Also have you tried closing out your shell and re-opening, or even worse -- reboot the system?
I ask because, as you note, it seems like the solution file never gets generated, which usually means there was either a missing dependency during provision, or some other issue when the script first ran. On first provision it's typically the case that a system reboot is needed, as Visual Studio community typically requires one. Further, we set a few shell environment variables that are leveraged during the build process, however those are supposed to be set at the end of the provisioning script.

After a lot of code reading, researching online and trial and error, I found out that after a clean OS install, one would need to install git and then immediately clone the osquery repository on the user desktop rather than System32. This worked fine, at least for me. Just make sure to switch directories when opening command line with administrator mode.
I was using msbuild build my sln and get error message "couldn't find 'AxImp.exe' which already exists under %Program files (x86)%\Microsoft sdks\windows\v8.1A. but seems it find sdk from v8.0A, output info point out the error was in Microsoft.Common.targets file(code see below). I didn't found where the "TargetFrameworkSDKToolsDirectory" was defined, anyone can help me?

Depends on the version and platform you're targeting, but latest is at C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\12.0\Bin\Microsoft.NetFramework.CurrentVersion.props, follow your imports, i.e. <Import Project=".targets" />. To get the values run MSBuild with /v:diag and all evaluated properties will be dumped and the start.

The error is caused by the parenthesis in the pathname.
possibly you execute VS2012 from C:\program file (x86)...
workaround: create a junction link

I worked a lot on this problem, I lost a lot of time. Apparently IIS Express in Visual Studio uses the Oracle provider 64 bit.
To solve this problem:
I installed IIS on my PC (Windows 10)
with .NET 4.5 or higher
I compiled the Web API application with 32-bit target.
I publish the web application on my IIS.
On IIS I set enable the apps 32 bit to true
I had the same problem and I resolved the problem installing Oracle 11g Express. Before, I removed all previous Oracle client installation. I use windows 7 64 bit.
Create Bat file to start excel
in bat put path you can adjust to match your folders
start c:\progra~2\micros~1\Office14\Excel.exe
When you start excel just open macro and try :)
I encountered the same problem when working on my Visual studio 2013 project. I was able to run the same project from SVN on a different machine, but it just WON'T work on mine. I checked the connection string and could successfully test the connection in Oracle, but it would throw a disgusting “ORA-06413: Connection not open” error from code.
I got it fixed this way - Install Oracle 11g client -> Select "Administrator" as Type of Installation. Re-open Visual Studio and it worked. Hope it helps!

don't install in program files (x86)
because program files(x86) is for 32 bit applications
I have resolved the error after the days of searching.
Error Cause:
This error is due to Oracle reserved character "(",")" and in Windows 64 bit there is a folder "Program Files (x86)" which is a creation problem.
Solution:
Create a link folder for "Program Files (x86)" using below command on Window Drive path.
Open cmd as Administrator.
mklink /j "Program Files x86" "Program Files (x86)"

Open Registry (as Administrator)->Export Registry
Always backup a registry file before changing it. Make a copy of the registry file and work on the copy.
Open Registry file(Copy) in text editor and replace "(x86)" with "x86"
Save the file and import it to your Registry and restart your computer.

What do these errors mean?
Looks like when Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Phone installed on my computer, it put the project folder onto the same hard drive as the application. For some reason, the solution in order to get this to compile, was to recreate the project on a different hard drive, and work from there.
