I have an older php website where i try to remove the .php Extension from php files getting accessed and showing in the browser but i have a problem.
I tried to add the last 2 lines to my .htaccess, saved it and checked the website again but the .php exstension is still there when i try to access parts of the website, anyone know why ?

Im running apache with xampp. I've done some changes to hide files' type at link. After a while I noticed that adding href with directory, adds same directory again to link like so:
/dir into /dir/dir and then dir/dir/dri ....
and for hrefs at current directory, it sends me to certain page - page that was in script for .htaccess. Guess it's been because my IDE autosaves file as I add it and it had overriden defaults before I've set the right properties.

This works - Extension goes off and works with new files and directories. Previous one I can't repair...

Based on your shown samples, could you please try following. Since you are adding web directory/folder to all uris, then have it as your very first rule and keep it at very top of your htaccess rules file.
Also please make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.

You may need to use base tag to fix your js and other relative resources. If you are linking js files using a relative path then the file will obviously get a 404 because its looking for URL path. for example if the URL path is /file/ instead of file.html then your relative resources are loading from /file/ which is not a directory but rewritten html file. To fix this make your links absolute or use base tag. In the header of your webpage add this <base href="/"> so that your relative links can load from the correct location.

However I do not really see a point in this. Where should the ".php" extension in those urls come from? I mean users won't write down a url to query your system themselves. Instead they click on a link and that link must be something you sent out before. So obviously your approach should be to send out links that do not contain that file name extension in the first place!

The first rewrite is for vanity url, another is redirecting non www to www and after that .php to extension less and redirecting .php file to extension less,
Problem i am facing is, if i request www.domain.com/ttt.php and if ttt doesn't exist then it redirects me to http://www.domain.com/profile?id=ttt.php
Also, i want the rewrite to be for php files not other type, Say if i have ttt.png file and i open www.domain.com/ttt it opens the image rather than showing 404 error.
Similarly happens with other type of files. It opens .txt file first if the names are common.

Since you're routing to profile.php, in the profile.php script, you'll need to redirect to /404.html if the id param doesn't exist (meaning the URI that got routed needs to be a 404).
