I have a large PDF file (3.67 GB). I need some pages of this file. If it could be opened I would get a screenshot of those pages. But the problem is that it needs more memory to be opened. I tried different ways like breaking the pdf or viewing the pdf from server but I was not successful. Would you please let me know if there would be a way to open this large file?

I am trying to open a .pdf file within Excel like an iframe in HTML.
My requirement is:
Save the path of multiple PDF files in Excel.
Excel should open each .pdf file within Excel itself (no need to open that in a separate .pdf window).
It should be like iframe in HTML. The user should be able
to view the .pdf within Excel itself.
I know this is little weird, but can anybody help me?

So far as opening a pdf in excel - thats kinda pushing it.
Since your request is exotic I can think of an exotic workaround:
If you can spare the interactivity you can simply make copies and convert your pdfs to word formats to work with them and load them in that way. I've seen people convert pdfs to Jpgs just to load them in some other documents but thats rudimentary and really fringe.
Otherwise you are facing a lot of custom coding that needs to make it possible.
I have a large single-page PDF (about 700KB) that was automatically generated by the Trace2UML tool. This provides the means to generate a UML interaction diagram from the trace logs obtained while running an application. It has options to export the diagram to PDF and PNG file formats; however, due to the large image size, the PNG export fails, whereas the PDF export succeeds. So I have been looking for a way to conert this large file from PDF to PNG format.
I've googled this for for a couple of hours this morning. There are lots of programs and on-line services to do it, but none of them work with my file. When I load the file into PDF-XChange Viewer, it indicates that the image size is 136 x 11186 cm. So, definitely huge! Is there any way to convert this file?
For mac, the Preview could convert pdf to png (just open pdf and save as png), not sure if it works for large file though.
Situation:
(Large) PDFs are stored on an iOS device
The PDFs are encrypted using a Rijndahl algorithm
When tapping one of the PDFs, it gets decrypted and afterwards viewed using a PDF viewer I implemented. The viewer is using the Core Graphics functionality to render the document page by page.
Issue:
With the documents being large enough, encrytion will take a while.
Viewing can only be started after the whole document has been decrypted into a temp file.
I'm wondering, if there is a way to...
Pass some kind of stream to CGPDFDocument instead of a file URL
Or any other alternative to be able to view as many pages as possible whil decrpytion is continued in the background?
If you cannot split your original PDF files down to single pages (as I suspect), then the following approach should work:
A: When still decrypting:
try to open the PDF document as you already do;
try accessing the document page you are interested in;
if it does not fail, render the page;
if it fails, then you know that page is not available yet (while decrypting);
while decrypting, release the pdf document each time you try to get a new page.
B: when decryption is done: do as you are already doing.
Please note that this is just a suggestion, I have not tried this while decrypting a document, but if point 1. does not fail, then this should work.
I'm creating PDFs using Texmaker. I would like to create some of the PDF files so that when I give the PDF to others, they are not able to print the file or to copy the text. I know I can do this with some PDF creator applications, but can I do that from some command like program I have with Latex, MikTex and TexMaker?
It wouldn't be effective anyway. There are bits in the pdf format that purport to forbid the user from doing this, but they are really just suggestions that the reader application may or may not act on. There is nothing to stop a user from removing the code that inspects the bits from a free/libre PDF reader, or just to run a tool over the file to remove the restrictions.
I am not sure this question belongs on a programming forum but then again not sure where it would.
I currently open any PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro when reading or editing files. Many times, I want to make a change to the text in those files and will simply use the Tools->Advanced Editing->Touch Up Text Tool to do so.
No issues with the actual text changes but when I go back to save the file, the file size increases drastically. Even after running Advanced->PDF Optimizer and Document->Reduce File Size, the size is still much larger than the previous file, in many cases even if I am reducing the amount of text on that page.
It is quite frustrating. I am sure entire books have been written about proper PDF compression but take one text only document I have for example: file size is 110KB for a 12 page document. We just migrated to Google Apps and an entire 72 page PDF was under 600 KB.
Am I missing something?
Save as... your document after some changes.
Sounds like the font data is being embedded into the PDF when you edit it. Run Acrobat's Space Audit on the original and modified PDF to determine what is taking up the extra space in the modified PDF.
