Irregular shaped clickable area / buttons in Visual Basic - vb.net

Is there a way to make an irregular shaped area / button clickable in Visual Basic?
I've seen some tutorials, but most of them use old .dll files that dont exist anymore uses pngs where the transparent area around is still clickable or loads in some libraries that I'm not sure how to work with.
I have tried substituting irregular shaped buttons for many normal shaped buttons to fill the same area, but this as one can understand is very inconvenient.
My skill level isn't that high, so most of what I've tried does work but is in the same category as my last example.

"Spotlight" trancparency

I am creating a medical image application. I have two images. The first is identical to the second except that the it has a skeleton superimposed over it. I would like when the user moves the mouse over the overlaid image a spotlight area of transparency will show the image underneath. I have done this with javascript on web pages but I can't find how to do it with VB 2015. I was able to sort of make it work using 21 separate images and swapping them but it's messy and doesn't work well.

What is the name of the process to use seamless textures in form designing?

In certain programs and applications, when I looked at their installation files they had some images only a few pixels say 40px in height and 1px in width.
I learned from that time that image files are used seamlessly to create textures for certain parts of their programs "window" or "form".
I would like to know how to recreate this in visual basic. Let's take a simple example to use: I have a panel and inside this panel I want the seamless texture to repeat so that when the user re-sizes the form the image isn't cropped or not visibly stretched.
Also take the example of the image below showing the title bar in iTunes.
(I have already tried searching examples of this, but I don't know what the method is called and online results focus mainly on the words "seamless" and "design", showing things like Illustrator)

TILED editor - object placement possible to snap to grid in Object Layer?

Thankfully, I have been able to import TMX to libgdx game without much of a problem, however this is now the first time of using Object Layer, for which at this moment in time I only want to include Platforms as the object (ie. I have 1x Tile Layer showing my background image and 1x Object Layer above). Now I've seen that I can just draw lines and/or boxes, circles etc to create 'zones' which I can pull into my code (goodness only knows how atm but I'll figure that later/soon )
But I see in Tiled that the button - Insert Tile (T) - exists.
I'm trying to use it but when the tile im using as a platform is placed it goes exactly where the mouse is pressed and I can't move it other than delete it. I'd just like to copy-paste a whole row of them for now and Level1 can just be 50 tiles in a flat line just so I can get it all working. It seems weird to me that Tiled can't do this but Ive spent ages looking for a way and can't find it.
Am I missing something or is this just not possible? And if the latter, how does an experienced tiled user (who's making a 2d platformer) go about creating such a simple example above in the Tiled environment?
What a noob - I answered my own question. The option I needed was in the 'View' dropdown menu -> 'Snap To grid' LOL

vb transparent background with gradient

I have a problem with gradients transparency key in a PictureBox in visual basic form . I want to get a good transparency as it is in the first form (in PS)
That's what I did:
1- Drawed the picture in Adobe Photoshop (CS6) with these preset:
2- Saved the picture with this option:
3- Added the picture to a PictureBox in vb form with blue BackColor
4- Changed form TransparencyKey to blue
5-The (awful) result:
The Form.TransparencyKey property is not really what you're looking for. It will only make the parts of the image transparent that exactly match the color you specified (Color.Blue, in your case). That means that the parts of the gradient in your image that have even a remotely small amount of red or yellow in them won't match the filter.
Among the things you could try is to have your form drawn with alpha blending. Here's a library that lets you draw stuff with transparency, which looks like what you want.
Alternately I dug up a walkthrough on CodeProject. It involves a lot of chatting with forms interop and the OS, which might not be your cup of tea.
Note that GDI+, the system Windows Forms uses for drawing, is somewhat slow, especially when drawing images. I don't know what your project looks like, but if you're going to draw a lot of transparent images, I suggest looking towards Microsoft DirectX.

rhombus framed buttons objective c?

basically I am trying to edit not only the appearance of the button(thats the easy part) but the frame that detects the touch to be a rhombus rather then a square

I've tried CGAfflineTransform however it doesn't allow me to make non rectangular objects. is there a way to skew
Im just wondering if this is possible because, if not could someone point me in a direction the only viable answer I've found is resorting to something along the lines of a spriteKit;

In order to modify the touch area of an oddly shaped button you could use a solution similar to OBShapedButton. I have used this particular project in the past myself for adjacent hexagon buttons and it worked perfectly. That said, you may have to modify it a bit to work with drawn shapes instead of images.
