RewriteRule in htaccess only work when I visit url directly

I have htaccess file where I am turning regurlar url example.com/result?from=Brampton&to=Calgary&submit= to Rides-From-Toronto-Calgary-submit seo friendly url. But problem is that I manually have to type url to visit seo friendly version of url, how can I achieve redirect using .htaccess ?
This is what I have so far
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^from [NC]
RewriteRule ^Rides-From-([^/]*)-([^/]*)-([^/]*)$ result?from=$1&to=$2&submit=$3 [QSA,NC,L,R=301]
any help is appreciated.
With your shown samples and attempts please try following .htaccess rules file. Please make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
Also these Rules consider that your internal rewrite is happening to index.php file in case its something else file then please change its name to it in rules.
RewriteEngine ON
##External redirect rules.
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/result\.php\?from=([^&]*)&to=([^&]*)&submit=(\S+)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /Rides-From-%1-%2-%3=%3? [R=301,L]
##Internal rewrite rules from here...
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(?:.*?-){2}([^-]*)-([^-]*)-([^-]*)=(.+)/?$ result.php?from=$1&to=$2&$3=$3 [QSA,L]

how to change url to a clean url that works

I've been looking for an answer for my problem, however the things I tried didnt work out. What I've been trying to do is to create a beatiful url for this link:
mywebsite.com/blog_template?slug_url=blog-post-name
to
mywebsite.com/blog-post-name
To achieve this I tried the following code:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^blog_template/([^/]+)$ /blog_template?slug_url=$1 [L]
But my code didnt work... Any advice?
Here’s the full htaccess my website:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
ErrorDocument 404 http://91.218.67.117/404/
ErrorDocument 500 http://91.218.67.117/500/
#redirect 404
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/500/$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /pages/errors/500.php [L]
#remove php
RewriteRule ^(.+)\.php$ /$1 [R,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*?)/?$ /$1.php [NC,END]
Considering you want to rewrite this request in backend to index.php(OR change it to appropriate file's name in case its some other php file). With your shown samples and attempts please try following .htaccess Rules.
Please make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
RewriteEngine ON
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/blog_template\?slug_url=(\S+)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1? [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ index.php?slug_url=$1 [QSA,L]
ErrorDocument 500 /pages/errors/500.php
NOTE: Please keep your .htaccess file and index.php(OR any php file which is taking rewrite request in backend for that matter) in same path(your root etc).
Your attempt was close. Just a small fix:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^/?([^/]+)/?$ /blog_template?slug_url=$1 [L]
This relies on additional rewriting rules to get applied though, since /blog_template most likely is not a resource the http server can somehow "execute" immediately. So you may want to combine above rule with other rules, which you did not reveal to us, which is why I cannot say anything about that.
If you also want to redirect requests to the "old" URL, then that variant should do:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^slug_url=([^/]+)$
RewriteRule ^/?blog_template$ / [QSD,R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^/?([^/]+)/?$ /blog_template?slug_url=$1 [L]
It is a good idea to start out using a R=302 _temporary_redirection and to only change that to a R=301 permanent redirection once everything works as expected. That prevents nasty caching issues on the client side.

How to fetch the slugname from url after rewrite the url

I have folder strcture like below
-folder
--text
---index.php
and I have a URL like below
https://example.com/folder/test/index.php?slug=slugname
I added below code in the htaccess to rewrite the URL.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ index.php?slug=$1 [QSA,L]
So now my URL is
https://example.com/folder/test/slugname
I have to get the slugname on my php page and I tried echo $_REQUEST['slug']; and echo $_GET['slug']; but I am getting
slugname.php
I want only my slugname.
Please keep following .htaccess Rules file besides your folder named folder and try following rules. Please make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /folder/test/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ index.php?slug=$1 [QSA,L]

htacess RewriteRule http://domain/folder/(any searchstring) to redirect to http://domain/folder/index.php?option=$1

I am trying to create a rewrite rule in my Apache .htaccess file and the goal is:
http://domain/folder/(any search string) to redirect to http://domain/folder/index.php?option=$1
example:
http://domain/folder/covid to redirect to http://domain/folder/index.php?option=covid
I got this setup in htacess in http://domain/folder, but somehow it's not working:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^([^/folder]+)/([^/]+)$ http://domain/folder/index.php?option=$1 [L]
The website is hosted on http://domain/folder
Can someone help me on this?
You may try this .htaccess inside folder/:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^index\.html?$ index.php [L,NC]
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L,NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule .+ index.php?option=$0 [L,QSA]
You could have your htaccess file like as follows. Please keep your htaccess file along side with your folder(named folder) and NOT inside folder.
Please make sure you clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
RewriteEngine ON
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ index.php?option=$1 [L]
OR in case your htaccess is present inside folder folder then try following.
RewriteEngine ON
RewriteBase /folder/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ index.php?option=$1 [L]

Apache htaccess rule for url shortening

I'm trying to create something
short.com/ASWi7 -> short.com/index.php?h=ASWi7
so I tried using this code on my htaccess
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/index.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?hash=$1 [L]
but the website loses the css and everything...i organized my site in folder etc...
so how can i exclude all the folders or cetain files to be part of that rule?
Try the following:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/index.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?hash=$1 [L]
!-f checks for existing files
!-d checks for existing directories
Hope that helps.
