I am learning the "html fragments over the wire" approach of htmx.
I have a "parent" tag in my HTML page which contains a child which is a form.
Case1: If the child form gets submitted and is not valid, then I want to re-display the child form (hx-swap="outerHTML"). This works fine.
Case2: if the child form gets submitted and is valid, then I want to re-fresh the parent.
I had a look at hx-swap-oob, but this needs to be an attribute of the HTML send from the serve to the client.
This is possible, but it is a bit dirty to get the attribute into the parent tag.
Is there a way to trigger something like oob, but why http-header?
Depending on the rest of your website, I'd suggest using the hx-trigger response header to trigger a new event on your website when your form is posted successfully. You can use htmx, hyperscript, javascript, or anything else listen for this event and take the necessary action.

I got an ASP NET Core RazorPage having a button which asynchronously replaces a part of the given HTML using an AJAX request.
Besides some text content it renders another button which is intended to post back the side when clicked. It is surrounded by a form element.
However, clicking the button I receive an HTTP 400 with the information "This page isn't working" (Chrome). Other browsers like Firefox return an HTTP 400 as well.
The relevant HTML with the button which has been created by the AJAX call is the one below:
<form method="post">
<button class="btnIcon" title="Todos" id="btnTodos" formaction="PersonManagement/Parts/MyPageName?handler=PerformTodos">Execute action</button>
</form>
As the url exists (I doublechecked it using the browser with a simple GET) I wonder whether the issue could be due to some security settings along with the browser or is there anything I am perhaps missing out here?
Thank you for any hint
Two things here first add this attribute to your form asp-antiforgery="true", then send it's value to the server in your AJAX post request.
jQuery magic starts here :)
token: $('[name=__RequestVerificationToken]').val(),
Antiforgery is ON by default since .net core 2.0 (as far as I remember), so if you do AJAX post you need to send the antiforgery token with each request.
Let us know if it helps. Spread knowledge don't hide it just for yourself :P
Finally I came across a very interesting article from Matthew Jones at https://exceptionnotfound.net/using-anti-forgery-tokens-in-asp-net-core-razor-pages/ about Anti-Forgery Tokens in Razor pages. Worth reading, indeed.
However, independently from that article what solved my issue was simply not to add the <form .. element at the client-side, but already at the server-side. As there is no need for me to explicitly adding it at the client-side, but only the button itself, this is a solution for me which works properly.
A brief summary of my scenario now:
There is a Razor Page containing usual cshtml content along with a <form method="post"..
Some anchor elements also are included, one is triggering a JQuery AJAX call to the server
The JQuery call comes back from the server with some additional HTML including the post button which which I add to the existing HTML.
The button is being rendered inside the now already existing
Clicking the button causes the page to post back in the wanted manner and executes the handler as intended.
Thanks again Stoyan for your input and help with that.
As I believe is common in many APIs, ours returns a subset of fields for a record when it is part of a List request, and more details when it is a single-record request to its Show endpoint.
It seems that react-admin attempts to avoid doing a second request when loading a Show page (possibly re-using the record data from List?), which results in missing data. Refreshing the page fixes this, but I'm wondering if there is a setting that will force a GET_ONE request on every Show page load.
There are no setting for that. However, this should be achievable with a custom saga which would listen to LOCATION_CHANGE action (from react-redux-router) and dispatch a refreshView action (from react-admin) when the new location pathname ends with /show.
Edit: however this is very strange. We only use the data we already got from the list for optimistic display but we still request with a GET_ONE when navigating to a show page from the list. Do you have a codesandbox showing your issue?
Is there a way by which I can duplicate or clone dijit widgets?
Basically, idea is to improve page rendering performance by minimizing widget creation time.
We have a single page web application and we do not reload the entire page whenever the user performs any action.
The flow of events is as follows,
The main page is loaded by the browser. It contains a dijit ContentPane which acts as a master container and displays the entire page using various other dijit widgets like textboxes, tabs, datefield, Enhanced grid etc.
The user performs an action (e.g. click on a dijit button)
The application sends an ajax call to server which processes the button click event and generates UI of the next page.
Browser receives successful response from ajax call and calls refresh method of dijit ContentPane. Which triggers destruction of existing widgets and new set of widgets are created and placed at appropriate position. (instead of refreshing the entire page)
The user again performs some action and again the refresh method is called which triggers destruction of existing widgets and new set of widgets are created and placed at appropriate position.
Because of such architecture the browser has to destroy existing widgets and recreate them again and again. Which results in slow performance.
The idea is to have a set of widgets always readily available on the browser clone them and place at appropriate position and update them instead of recreating each time.
Yes this is possible with something called _AttachMixin.
Basically there is no getting around the fact that your widgets would need to attach event listeners to the HTML Document. What can be cut out though is the time in the Dijit Widget's lifecycle to generate the DOM. As we well know, simple Dijit widgets like a dijit/form/Button has a div inside a div inside a div etc.
This is explained in detail here http://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/1.9/dijit/_AttachMixin.html
Here is an example using Node.JS as a backend. http://jamesthom.as/blog/2013/01/15/server-side-dijit
This is a tough problem and this concept isn't explained very thoroughly. If you have a backend that is not Node.JS you have to manually make the widget string and pass it as a response to your AJAX and an follow the example from the 1st link (Ref Doc)
We have had lots of widgets of our app render nicely within the client side. A far less complicated approach would be to simply show / hide (instead of render and destroy) widgets as and when they are needed. I assume that you app's access policy would focus on data and not which person has access to which widget.
I have an HTML web resource in an opportunity that produces a css tab control containing all children opportunity to the current record.
I do this through Ajax and javascript and everything works fine, a new tab is made for each child and it shows an opportunity record inside; the only issue is that it will only show the current record inside of this tab - effectively creating an endless loop.
If I paste the URL from the IFrame into the browser it shows the proper record using the right form that I specify(one that doesn't contain another web resource).
Does anyone know why it wouldn't show the same form as it navigates to? If I try google.com it works, just not for this URL:
http://server/CRM/main.aspx?etn=opportunity&pagetype=entityrecord&navbar=off&id=%7B"+val.OpportunityId+"%7D&extraqs=formid%3DC1EC704C-D29B-4786-806F-195D0A80CF07%0D%0A#255409204
Try constructing the URL with this format:
http://server/CRM/main.aspx?etc=3&extraqs=formid%3dC1EC704C-D29B-4786-806F-195Dāā0A80CF07%7d&id=%7b<EnterOppIdHere>%7d&pagetype=entityrecord
Use the Entity Type Code (etc parameter) instead of the Name (etn) and note that everything after that should be part of the extraqs parameter.
I'm converting my site from using jQueryUI to jQuery Mobile, and I'm having some trouble.
I have a page that lets users add new timesheet entries. They click the "Add" button and it retrieves a Partial View from the server right onto the page.
The problem is that jQuery Mobile is not applying to any of the elements in the Partial View.
How can I force jQuery Mobile to process my elements after they've been inserted into the page?
The short answer is that you can just trigger the create method on the parent element of where you inserting your partial view.
For example $('#container').trigger( "create" );
Alternatively most widgets can be manually initialized by calling them on the element, for example for a listview: $('#myListview').listview(). This can be useful if you have only a few elements that need to be enhaced and you don't want to traverse all the child elements of the container. You should also know that for many widgets there is also a refresh method which you can call if you add elements to it after it has already been initialized for example $('#myListview').listview('refresh).
Also have a look at the following Q & A from the JQM docs which deals with this issue and for an explanation as to why it is necessary to call these methods.
Question: Content injected into a page is not enhanced.
Answer:
jQuery Mobile has no way to know when you have injected content into a
page. To let jQuery Mobile know you have injected content that must be
enhanced, you need to either make sure the plugins are called to
enhance the new elements or trigger("create") on the parent container
so you don't have to call each plugin manually.
