Atom: how to disable the "telescope" project section ("your project is currently empty")? - ide

I have removed the telemetry consent but the window with the telescope on which "your project is currently empty" is still there.
How can I disable it?
Is there any package which removes it?

The panel with the telescope and the phrase "Your project is currently empty" is shown not by Atom itself, but by a package "tree-view". This issue is supposed to be fixed in version "v0.229.0" of the package. Meanwhile, you can just disable the package to get rid of the panel:
Open preferences: Edit > Preferences (Linux), Atom > Preferences (macOS), or File > Settings (Windows).
Select "Packages".
Search for "tree-view"
Click "Disable"

You can collapse the whole tree-view panel by: hover you cursor over the inner edge of the panel and a semi-circle with left arrow will appear in the middle; click that.
If you just want a blank tree-view panel instead (hide the graphic & buttons), you can add this to your stylesheet:
#add-projects-view {
display: none !important;
}

How do I get Version Control Tab to appear here in intellij?

How to display the output panel in Sublime Text

In Sublime Text 2, I'm running a Python script (for loop) continuously print out some results in the output panel.
I accidentally pressed the search shortcut (Ctrl + f) and the search panel appeared. The output panel disappeared.
Is there a way to call back (great to have the printed out contents) the output panel?
Thank you.
In Sublime 2, in order to call up the build results window you can use the Tools > Build Results > Show Build Results menu item.
If you're using Sublime 3, the same menu item exists but is also bound to a key as well (check the menu item to see what it is for your platform), and you can click on the panel chooser icon in the bottom left of the window to open a menu that displays all panels and choose the output panel from there.
If you're using one of the beta builds for Sublime 4, the same options exist as for Sublime 3 but you have to right click on the panel chooser icon to open the panel menu, as a left click instead toggles the state of the side bar.
Regardless of the version of Sublime that you're using, the build results can only be displayed in a window where at least one build has been performed (each window has its own panel). For Sublime 3 and 4 that means that the panel won't appear in the panel chooser for windows that haven't completed a build yet.
I use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+R for this, to avoid to have to open the menu Tools > Build Results > Show Build results each time.
For this, just add the following line in your Default (Windows).sublime-keymap file:
{ "keys": ["ctrl+alt+r"], "command": "show_panel", "args": { "panel": "output.exec" } },

WebStorm: Hide html selector toolbar

In WebStorm I want to hide the toolbar that appears on html files at the top. It shows the html selectors and ids drill down. I've circled it in the below picture...
Go to File -> Settings or press Ctr+Alt+S on windows. Then go to Editor-> General -> Appearance.
Then on the right side of the panel uncheck "Show HTML breadcrumbs(...)" line. Then restart the IDE to take effect.

For changing the background of the editor goto File->Settings->Editor->Colors & Fonts->General->Text. You'll see an item called "Default text". On the right you will see a checkbox for background. Click on it and choose whatever color you prefer.
To change the editor background color in newer versions (after 2017) of Intellij Idea go to Settings > Editor > Color Scheme > General and then on the right side list expand Text and click on "Default text" then click on the color hex code to get the color wheel.
Editor > Color Scheme > General > Text
Go to File option top left in the menu bar.

How do you apply style rule in Safari Web Inspector?

Chrome Developer Tools allows you to apply a style rule in the Styles pane. I haven't found a way to do this in Safari (Style Rules pane). Any one know if it is possible?
Also, does Safari have rulers like Chrome does?
Safari 8.0.8 on OS X
Right-click any element and select Inspect Element from the pop-up menu
Ensure Styles and Rules are selected on the right hand side of the inspector
You can then either add individual rules by clicking + New Rule, or simply click and start typing rules where Click to Edit appears (refer to image below)
Enter your new rules and these will be applied to the element being "inspected" in the browser window.
As for a ruler? Well, I haven't found one, but the Inspect button will give you the dimensions of elements when hovered in the browser window.
Open the DevTools-like panel (CMD + OPT + C)
Click on the Elements tab
If it's not open yet, click on "Show the details sidebar" on the right (CMD + OPT + 0)
OR
Right-click element and select "Inspect Element"
If it's not open yet, click on "Show the details sidebar" on the right
(CMD + OPT + 0)
YES this is absolutely possible - and here is how:
Safari 6.x.x
(Safari 6.0.1 Solution Confirmed on Mac OsX)
for the newest version of Safari 6.0+ Apple has taken the luxury of removing those gui elements. the feature is still available however just a little more tucked away. to add your styles in safari 6 you need to follow said steps:
the STEPS:
first choose the {} brackets icon in the right sidebar
From the DOM model in the center white area of the web inspector- Click to select the HTML element you wish to view styles of. ( they will display in the right style sidebar )
On the right style sidebar: double click the closing brace on the existing style for the selector you wish to edit.
OR
Double click the open area beneath the "Style Attribute" drop down in that same sidebar to add your own styles to that particular element
Safari 5.x.x and previous (5.x.x Confirmed Win 7 & Mac OS X)
assuming you have enabled the inspector in the settings advanced menu you can begin right clicking and inspecting elements...
from that point select an element in the DOM on the left from the html markup. now on the right sidebar make sure the "Style" menu is expanded.
once here you have two options:
there should be a blank "element.style" selector available for every DOM element you can select from the left. these are intended for your customization. you can double click here to be given the option to add styles to that selector.
you can also click on the gear at the top right corner of the styles menu in that right side bar and choose the last option "New Style Rule" this will allow you to define your own selector independent of the DOM element you have chosen on the left
