How to use nextFocusDown in React Native - react-native

I need to define the next view that gets focus once the button is pressed, however, there is no much information in React Native documentation (https://reactnative.dev/docs/view#nextfocusdown).
So far I have something like this:
const ListHeader = React.memo(({
navigation
}) => {
return (
<>
<View
style={{
width: '100%',
backgroundColor: '#338cf7',
height: 70,
flex: 1,
flexDirection: 'row',
justifyContent: 'space-between',
alignItems: 'center'
}}
focusable={false}
>
<View
style={{ flex: 1, flexDirection: 'row', alignItems: 'center' }}
focusable={false}>
<TouchableNativeFeedback
background={VeoHoverBackground}
onPress={() => navigation.navigate('Sidebar')}
>
<View nextFocusDown={next_to_focus_id}>
<CustomIcon
style={{ padding: 10, color: 'white' }} size={22}
name='customize' />
</View>
</TouchableNativeFeedback>
<TouchableNativeFeedback
background={VeoHoverBackground}>
<View focusable={false}>
<Text style={{ color: 'white', marginLeft: 10, fontSize: 18 }}
focusable={false}>VEO Messanger</Text>
</View>
</TouchableNativeFeedback>
</View>
<TouchableNativeFeedback
onPress={() => navigation.navigate('NewMessageView')}
background={VeoHoverBackground}>
<View>
<CustomIcon
style={{ padding: 10, color: 'white' }} size={22}
name='edit-rounded' />
</View>
</TouchableNativeFeedback>
</View>
</>
);
});
How to get the id of the element that has to be focused next? In my case it has to be second TouchableNativeFeedback element.

So I work with React Native so I am not entirely sure if React works the same way, but you have to pass a ref to the nextFocusDown prop. I see you have the id <View nextFocusDown={next_to_focus_id}>but I don't see the where the next_to_focus_id ref is.
So in React Native, for example, I would make a ref with useRef and use the ref prop on TextInput or TouchableOpacity. Here I will use a really simple TextInput example:
```
const emailRef = useRef();
const passwordRef=useRef();
<TextInput
ref={emailRef}
nextFocusDown={passwordRef}>
</TextInput>
<TextInput
ref={passwordRef}>
</TextInput>
```
Hopefully that helps!

1st index hidden Item not hidding when swiping the another element - swiperFlatList React native

as you can see in the image, I have implemented adding Text inputs dynamically with the button press, everything is working perfectly only the 1st text input hidden item (Remove Button) not hiding when swiping the other text inputs.
const initialState = {
col1: '',
key: 0,
};
const [inputField, setInputField] = useState<Values[]>([initialState]);
<SwipeListView
data={inputField}
renderItem={data => renderItem(data)}
renderHiddenItem={data => renderHiddenItem(data)}
leftOpenValue={55}
rightOpenValue={-100}
disableRightSwipe={true}
ListHeaderComponent={
<View style={[styles.headingContainer]}>
<Text style={[styles.headingText]}>{Props.inputHeading}</Text>
</View>
}
ListFooterComponent={
<View style={styles.buttonContainer}>
<TouchableOpacity
style={styles.addBtn}
activeOpacity={0.7}
onPress={onPressAddBtn}>
<Text style={styles.BtnText}>Add</Text>
</TouchableOpacity>
<TouchableOpacity style={styles.submitBtn} activeOpacity={0.7}>
<Text style={styles.BtnText}>Submit</Text>
</TouchableOpacity>
</View>
}
style={{height: Dimensions.get('screen').height / 1.3}}
/>
const renderItem = (data: any) => {
return (
<TouchableHighlight key={data.item.key}>
<TextInput
placeholder="Hello"
onChangeText={e => handleChange(data.item.key, 'col1', e)}
value={data.item.col1}
style={[styles.textInput, Props.textInputStyle]}
// {...Props.textInputProps}
/>
</TouchableHighlight>
);
};
const renderHiddenItem = (rowData: any) => {
return (
<View
style={{
justifyContent: 'flex-end',
flexDirection: 'row',
alignItems: 'center',
}}>
<TouchableOpacity
activeOpacity={0.7}
style={{
backgroundColor: 'red',
justifyContent: 'center',
flexDirection: 'row',
width: 90,
height: 45,
alignItems: 'center',
borderRadius: 5,
}}>
<Text style={{color: 'white'}}>Remove</Text>
</TouchableOpacity>
</View>
);
};
but other all element's swipe is working as expected only the first element is not working as expected
found solution by adding keyExtractor={item => item.key.toString()} to swiper flatlist.

Huge gap between TouchableOpacity after FlatList

I am trying to create a TouchableOpacity after a FlatList in react native. Although it's coming under the view but there is a huge gap between the list and the button.
Following is the corresponding code :
<FlatList keyExtractor={(payment) => payment.iconFont} style={{ alignSelf: "center" }} data={payments} renderItem={({ item }) => {
return <View style={{ width: '100%', marginTop: 32 }}>
<View style={{ flexDirection: "row" }}>
<View>
<FontAwesome5 name={item.iconFont} size={32} />
</View>
<View>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 18, marginLeft: 16 }}>{item.mainText}</Text>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 12, marginLeft: 12 }}>{item.SubText}</Text>
</View>
</View>
</View>
}} />
<TouchableOpacity style={styles.button}>
<Text style={{ color: "#FFF", fontWeight: "500", fontSize: 20 }}>PAY</Text>
</TouchableOpacity>
I am doing something wrong over here ?
P.S. => Although FlatList is working fine
the corresponding styles :
button: {
backgroundColor: "#000000",
height: 40,
alignItems: "center",
justifyContent: "center",
borderRadius: 20
}
Move the Touchable Opacity into Flatlist's listfootercomponent prop. Like this:
<FlatList
ListFooterComponent={<TouchableOpacity> .... </TouchableOpacity>}
/>
This should solve the spacing problem. And place the TouchableOpacity component always at the bottom of the FlatList.

ScrollView with FlatList inside not working?

This is the code I have for the ScrollView
<ScrollView contentContainerStyle={{ flexGrow: 1 }} scrollEnabled>
<View style={{ maxHeight: 280 }}>
<FlatList
style={{ backgroundColor: '#eee' }}
data={suppliers}
keyExtractor={supplier => supplier}
renderItem={({ item, index }) => {
const style = index % 2 === 0 ? { backgroundColor: '#fff' } : null;
return (
<TouchableOpacity
style={{
...style,
height: height / 14,
borderColor: '#333',
borderWidth: 0.5,
alignItems: 'center',
flexDirection: 'row',
justifyContent: 'space-between',
}}
>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 14 }}>{item}</Text>
<Feather name="chevron-right" size={21} />
</TouchableOpacity>
);
}}
/>
</View>
</ScrollView>
The content of the FlatList is dynamic meaning that the length of the supplier array can change at anytime so I have a maxHeight and want it to simply be a list you can scroll through if the content extends the maxHeight. I have tried messing around with a lot of different things but nothing seems to work. You can see the outcome here
I get a list that is not scrollable.
In your first line remove the contentContainerStyle with flex-grow
your code
<ScrollView contentContainerStyle={{ flexGrow: 1 }} scrollEnabled>
change to
<ScrollView contentContainerStyle={{ }} scrollEnabled>
if you need flex then wrap the components with another view tag
For example
<ScrollView scrollEnabled>
<View style={{flexGrow: 1}}>
<FlatList/>
</View>
</ScrollView>
It worked for me.

First show the profile clicked then swipe between profiles react native

Hi how can I first show the user that I've clicked on and then display a swiper ? I can't find a logic for that. I have a list of users and when I click on one, it should open a new component where we will find more infos about that user. Then I want to swipe between the list of users on the same component of the description ?
Here are my user profile component and the flatlist :
render () {
var colorConnected;
if (this.props.navigation.getParam('Statut') === "ON") {
colorConnected = "#1fbc26";
}
else if (this.props.navigation.getParam('Statut') === "OFF") {
colorConnected = "#ff0303";
}
else {
colorConnected = "#ffd200";
}
return (
<Swiper showsPagination={false}>
{this.state.items.map((item, key) => {
return (
<ScrollView style = {styles.view_container}>
<View style={styles.photo}>
<ImageBackground source={{uri:this.props.navigation.getParam('Photo')}} style={{ width: '100%', height: '100%' }}>
<View style={styles.photo_content}>
<LinearGradient colors={['transparent', 'rgba(0,0,0,0.5)']} style={{ position: 'absolute', left: 0, right: 0, bottom: 0, height: 80 }} />
<View style={{ flexDirection: 'row', alignItems: 'center' }}>
<View>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 40, color:'white' }}>{this.props.navigation.getParam('Age')}</Text>
</View>
<View style={{ marginRight: 7, marginLeft: 7, backgroundColor: '#ffffff', width: 1, height: 39 }}></View>
<View style={{ flexDirection: 'column', flex:1 }}>
<View style={{ flexDirection: 'row' }}>
<View style={[styles.bulle_presence, { backgroundColor: colorConnected } ]}></View>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 18, fontWeight: '600', color:'white' }}>{this.props.navigation.getParam('Pseudo')}</Text>
</View>
<View style={{ flexDirection: 'row', justifyContent: 'space-between'}}>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 15, color:'white' }}>{this.props.navigation.getParam('Distance')}</Text>
<Text style={{ fontSize: 15, color:'white'}}>{this.props.navigation.getParam('Genre')}</Text>
</View>
</View>
</View>
</View>
</ImageBackgroud>
</View>
</ScrollView>
)
})}
</Swiper>
)}
}
render() {
GLOBAL.data = this.state.dataSource;
//console.log(GLOBAL.data);
return (
<SafeAreaView style={{ flex:1 }}>
<View style={styles.main_container}>
<FlatList style={styles.flatList}
data={this.state.dataSource}
extraData = {this.state}
keyExtractor={(item, index) => item.MembreId}
renderItem={(item) => <UserItem user={item} displayDetailForUser={this._displayDetailForUser} />}
numColumns={numColumns}
refreshing={this.state.refreshing}
onRefresh={this.handleRefresh} />
</View>
</SafeAreaView>
)
}
With this code, I'm only able to swipe on the user where I've clicked. The others user are not showing.
You can open a modal then use a carousel like react-native-snap-carousel in full screen mode to generate your use case

ScrollView not showing everything and is cut off

I need this screen to show all the contents that is inside the scrollview, I've tried everything setting ScrollView's flexGrow to 1, parent view's flex to 100. The scrollview is scrolling down until iteration of Bark Central Dog Park & Cafe but it is cut off to half and can't scroll any further, also I noticed that the text HELP ME can not be found too. Thank you so much, as this problem has been bothering me and my progress in react native.
Please tell me what I should do and where I have gone wrong. Thank you again!

This is a known issue in scroll view of react native, use a paddingBottom : 100 in the styles of the scroll view.
The 100 can be set to any value according the content you have
Please provide your StyleSheet and screenshot of what you are seeing.
Test to add
height = Dimensions.get('window').height
to your parentContainer
Also try paddingBottom to your scrollview StyleSheet
Just ran into this problem and what finally fixed it for me was making sure my scrollview wasn't the last component in my layout. So I added an invisible component (with a set height to offset the amount of scrollview content I couldn't see) right after my scrollview.
In my case, I have added a height to the wrapped component of the ScrollView.It worked for me
eg:-
<View style={{ height: hp(500) }}>
<ScrollView showsVerticalScrollIndicator={false}>
{filteredItems.map((item) => <Text style={styles.listItemText}>{item.title}</Text>)}
</ScrollView>
</View>
What fixed it for me was adding contentContainerStyle={{flexGrow: 1,paddingRight:100}} to my scrollview.
Hope it helps someone too!!
just add like this :
<ScrollView contentContainerStyle={{ width:'100%',height:'500%'}}>
