Unable to Run Automated Test Cases With Minimized Window in Chrome - selenium

I use Cucumber framework in version 4.0 and Selenium Server Standalone in version 2.53.0 to automate test cases. While Google Chrome version is 86.0.4240, the already automated test cases are executed without any problems and even when the Web explorer window is minimized each step is executed perfectly.
However when the Chrome version is updated to the latest available version, these test cases execution is stopped when the Web explorer window is minimized.
Does any body know how to avoid this happening after updating the Web Explorer?

Selenium performance with InternetExplorerDriver and IE11

I am facing a very slow response when running my scripts on IE11. Sometimes, I get FocusWindowsClosed, ElementIsNotClickable. I have changed the zoom settings for all zones, created feature BFCACHE for IE in feature control, added capabilities into my code but nothing works for me. If anyone has any idea why I am facing this issue. Do i need to downgrade window or IE versions? I have also downloaded the same version of selenium client server with same IEDriver which is (3.8.0).
To start with, Selenium v3.8.0 of 2017-11-30 is more then 2 years older. Even the error trace logs would be difficult to debug. So as per best practices you may like to:
First of all, the fact that ...64-bit IEDriverServer executable populate the input fields with the character sequence very slowly as compared to 32-bit IEDriverServer executable.... is a known issue.

Ensure the Internet Explorer Protective mode setting are properly configured.
Ensure the Zoom level is properly configured.
Ensure ignoreProtectedModeSettings is properly confugured.
Ensure setting up selenium to work with internet explorer.
Ensure FEATURE_BFCACHE is properly confugured.
Upgrade Selenium to current levels Version 3.141.59.
Upgrade IEDriverServer to latest IEDriverServer v3.150.1 level.
Note: As per best practices as Selenium Client and InternetExplorerDriver are released in sync and you must try to use both the binaries from the same major release.
Clean your Project Workspace through your IDE and Rebuild your project with required dependencies only.
Execute your #Test.
Always invoke driver.quit() within tearDown(){} method to close & destroy the WebDriver and Web Client instances gracefully.

Firefox spontaneous launch in Selenium

Environment:
selenium-server-standalone-3.8.1.jar
geckodriver-v0.24.0
firefox 60.6.1
Everything was set up 6 months ago and everything worked well, the tests passed through the Selenium and there were no problems.
Since 08/23/2019 problems began. Without any launches test inside the Selenium process, started to run spontaneously browsers (firefox) and did not turn off.
These processes overload the processor on the server, after which the server starts to brake and also the site that is on the server. These "browser launches" continue until Selenium is reloaded by open browsers after which our automatic tests are blocked and display an error: "unable to create new native thread".
As soon as one such browser spontaneously opens, the processor load becomes 100%.
These browser launches occur approximately 1 time in 4-5 minutes.
All tests are disabled, but Selenium lives its own life, and continues to launch the browsers.
Maybe someone faced a similar problem? Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Term yourself lucky to have sailed smoothly with geckodriver-v0.24.0 and selenium-server-standalone-3.8.1.jar till 08/23/2019.
As per the documentation:
To work with geckodriver-v0.24.0 you need:
Selenium Python client version greater then 3.14
Firefox client version minimum 57 (which seems to be okay)

Additional considerations
As a part of the best practices:
Upgrade JDK to recent levels JDK 8u222.
Upgrade Selenium to current levels Version 3.141.59.
Upgrade GeckoDriver to GeckoDriver v0.24.0 level.
GeckoDriver is present in the desired location.
GeckoDriver is having executable permission for non-root users.
Upgrade Firefox version to Firefox v65.0.2 levels.
Clean your Project Workspace through your IDE and Rebuild your project with required dependencies only.

If your base Web Client version is too old, then uninstall it through Revo Uninstaller and install a recent GA and released version of Web Client.
Take a System Reboot.
Execute your Test as a non-root user.

Running webdriver IEDriver on Jenkins fails

I have a small C# webdriver test suite dll which I recently created...
Runs fine in Visual Studio
Runs from the command line perfectly using the NUnit 3 console runner.
I have Jenkins installed on my laptop (for testing before I put it into my live Jenkins), running with my Windows credentials. When I execute the test suite using the same NUnit3 console runner command I used before, all the tests fail, can't even log in as it can't find any elements. I took screenshots with Selenium & it's just a black rectangle!
Anyone have any ideas on how to get IE behaving - I bet it's a Windows permissions thing from Jenkins. Thanks!
I'll answer my own question.
Turns out you can't do what I'm attempting - it's a known issue with the way IE is built. What I had to do is install a new Jenkins node on another machine and get that to run the IE tests. That way it did work.

Selenium scripts fail after newest Windows update

I have a question regarding Selenium and the current Microsoft updates:
I just installed the newest Microsoft patches on a PC and now the Selenium scripts won't work anymore. I'm using the Selenium IE Driver 2.44.0 in the scripts. Maybe something has changed in the Internet Explorer, I'm not sure. Suddenly the scripts can't find any web elements on the page anymore. An InvalidSelectorException is thrown because the findElements methods can't be executed. The IE driver opens up and it navigates to the given URL, but when it tries to find a web element, the script fails. I also tried it out on a PC which hasn't the newest updates installed yet and the scripts are working fine there, there are no problems at all.
Do you have any ideas what to do or what could be the cause?

If you have taken windows update KB3025390 IE will not work as expected. There is currently no resolution to that yet.
Also, Uninstalling the update KB3025390 should make the WebDriver work correctly with Internet Explorer 11. See this answer

Moving from Selenium IDE to what?

I have been given the following job from my boss:
three years ago a former employee created selenium tests for our project and committed them via eclipse
now I have to update the tests due to the fact that the software has changed through time.
I created new IDE tests, instead of editing the old ones.
I have committed them through CVS in the project folder and I access them via a browser (selenium has some folder in the project)
when I run these tests via IDE, they run fine, but when I run them via the TEstRUnner that is in the old selenium installation, there are a lot of errors.
Should I install new version of Selenium in the project folder and what should it be?
Or should I just run the tests from IDE instead? (I read somewhere that TestRunner will be deprecated)
How are tests made in IDE run through Web Driver?
Have you looked at Selenium Builder? It supports migrating existing scripts, works well with Sauce Labs and there is also a Jenkins plugin](https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Selenium+Builder+Plugin) available.
Tests built using Selenium IDE are built using Selenium RC (1.0), and selenium WebDriver is the foundation of Selenium 2.0. Selenium has a migration document for this transition. In moving to Web Driver, you might be required to code the tests yourself, rather than using the point and click Selenium IDE.

In order to run the Web Driver tests, you will need to have a selenium server or local browser to execute these tests. Some examples are SauceLabs, Selenium Grid, a standalone Selenium Server, or I believe you allow Web Driver to directly control the browser on the computer executing the code.
