SQL query to select from multiple tables and create third table - sql

Can someone please help me with a SQL query? My apologies if a similar question has been asked before.
Finding it difficult from other examples I have seen.
I have 2 tables and would like to create a third table.
Table - advisories
advID | productName
1 | 3.4/3.5/3.6
2 | 3.4
3 | 3.5/3.6
Table - customerA
hostname | version
A | 3.3
B | 3.5
C | 3.6
Final Table
hostname | advID
A | NULL
B | 1
B | 3
C | 1
C | 3
Does this look correct?
select advId, productNames, hostname, version
from advisories, customerA
where productNames
like '%3.6%';

I would suggest using the LIKE in the JOIN as follows:
SELECT C.HOSTNAME,
A.advisoryId
FROM customerA C LEFT JOIN advisories A
ON CONCAT('/',A.productNames,'/') LIKE concat('%/',C.version,'/%')
order by C.HOSTNAME

How to query sum total of transitively linked child transactions from database?

I got this one assignment which has a lot of weird stuff to do. I need to create an API for storing transaction details and do some operations. One such operation involves retrieving a sum of all transactions that are transitively linked by their parent_id to $transaction_id.
If A is the parent of B and C, and C is the parent of D and E, then
sum(A) = A + B + C + D + E
note: not just immediate child transactions.
I have this sample data in the SQL database as given below.

where t_id is a unique transaction_id and t_pid is a parent_id which is either null or an existing t_id.
so, when I say sum(t_amount) where t_id=1, I want the result to be
sum(1+3+5) -> sum(10000 + 30000 + 15000) = 55000.
I know I can achieve this in a programmatic way with some recursion which will do repeated query operations and add the sum. But, that will give me poor performance if the data is very large say, millions of records.
I want to know if there is any possibility of achieving this with a complex query. And if yes, then how to do it?
I have very little knowledge and experience with databases. I tried with what I know and I couldn't do it. I tried searching for any similar queries available here and I didn't find any.
With what I have researched, I guess I can achieve this with stored procedures and using the HAVING clause. Let me know if I am right there and help me do this.

You need a recursive CTE:

SQL Server : query with subquery involving select from previous selection

I'm trying to create a query in SQL Server to determine how many times a person's name shows up in a list, but also that list will be unknown, so I would have to get the actual name from the previous select index... It's hard to explain so I'll show the query first and hopefully someone can help.

So basically, in SpeakerName[i], I'd like to somehow get the SpeakerName from the outer Select. The output should come out something like this

Don't have SSMS installed on this computer so can't test it.

SQL Server 2008 pivot query gone wrong with column name

I have some problems regarding a pivot query. I am new to this. So look for something in the internet so I found dozens of them. So I decided to follow this Link. Been practice but seems like I ran into some obvious error.
My code is:
select
risk, [Quick] AS Quick, [Brown] AS Brown, [Fox] AS Fox
from
(select risk, site
from tst) as ps
PIVOT
(
count(risk)
for site in ([Brown], [Brown], [Fox])
) AS pvt
But it is throwing an error:
Invalid column name 'risk'.
Basically I want to have an output like this:
|Foo | Quick | Brown | Fox |
| 1 | 10 | 3 | 2 |
| 2 | 5 | 4 | 4 |
| 3 | 4 | 1 | 5 |
| 4 | 2 | 3 | 7 |
| 5 | 3 | 2 | 1 |

The problem with your existing query is you are using the column risk in your final select list as well as inside of the aggregate function. Once you've counted the risk values for each site this is not available to display.
To get around this you can add a second version of the risk column to your subquery similar to the following. You then count this other column of risk and display one in the final select:
select risk, [ADAB] AS ADAB, [Bahrain] AS Bahrain, [Thumrait] AS Thumrait
from
(
select risk, piv_risk = risk, site
from qcqcif
) as ps
PIVOT
(
count(piv_risk)
for site in ([ADAB], [Bahrain], [Thumrait])

Access SQL Max-Function

I have a question concerning MS Access queries involving these tables:
tblMIDProcessMain ={ Process_ID,Process_Title,...}
tblMIDProcessVersion = { ProcessVersion_ID, ProcessVersion_FK_Process, ProcessVersion_VersionNo, ProcessVersion_FK_Status, ...}
tblMIDProcessVersionStatus = { ProcessVersionStatus_ID,ProcessVersionStatus_Value }
The tables store different versions of a process description. The "ProcessVersion_VersionNo" field contains an integer providing the version number. Now I would like to get for each process the highest version number thus the current version. If I do the following it kind of works:
SELECT tblMIDProcessMain.Process_Titel
, Max(tblMIDProcessVersion.ProcessVersion_VersionNo) AS CurrentVersion
FROM tblMIDProcessMain
INNER JOIN tblMIDProcessVersion
ON tblMIDProcessMain.Process_ID = tblMIDProcessVersion.ProcessVersion_FK_Process
GROUP BY tblMIDProcessMain.Process_Titel;
The query returns a recordset with each existing process_title and the respective max number of the version field. But as soon as I add other fields like "ProcessVersion_FK_Status" in the Select statement the query stops working.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Given the example tables you updated your post with, this should work:

I assume you are adding the new field to the 'Group By" clause? If not, then you either must include in the 'Group By', or you must use one of the operators like "Max" or "First" etc.

join with MULTIPLE rows for fulltext search

and I want to select any row of the first table joining (in the same row) all the associated rows, according to what is specified by the table "associations"
the problem is that joining one node with one single node gives me the fulltext relevance of a SINGLE associated node: what I want is the relevance of ALL associated NODES

the previous one is an abstract table, what i really want is to get unique/distinct nodeId, with the sum of the fulltextRelevance of the previous table... like this:

You just have to group by your nodeId like this:

I dont fully understand your text relevance part. can you explain it further? The above query will get you the desired first 4 rows, the query on the second part should be easy
