Which types of GPS data (i.e., GGA, RMC, etc) are available only once a fix is obtained? - gps

In particular, which types have fix modes other than GGA? Which types provide data without a fix? What are parameters that make GGA and RMC stand out? What applications can depend only on GGA or RMC data?

Normalizer in cloudconnect for Gooddata

I have some doubts. I'm doing a BI for my company, and I needed to develop a data converter in ETL because the database to which it's connected (PostgreSQL) is bringing me some negative values within the time CSV. It doesn't make much sense to bring from the database (to which we don't have many accesses) negative data like this:
The solution I found so that I don't need to rely exclusively on dealing directly with the database would be to perform a conversion within the cloudconnect. I verified in my researches that the one that most contemplates would be the normalizer, but there are not many explanations available. Could you give me a hand? because I couldn't parameterize how I could convert this data from 00:00:-50 to 00:00:50 with the normalizer.

However, I am not sure if normalizer would be able to process timestamps.
Normalizer is basically a generic transform component with a normalization template. You might as well use reformat component that is more universal.
However, what you are trying to do would require some very custom transform script, written in CTL (CloudConnect transformation language) or java.

Julia: how stable are serialize() / deserialize()

I am considering the use of serialize() and deserialize() for all of my data i/o due to their convenience. I do not, however, want to be stuck with unreadable files on a Julia update.
How stable are serialize() and deserialize()? Should they work between updates of 0.3? Can I expect safe behavior if I stick to basic types like arrays of Float64?

If you want to store data you might depend on being able to read in the future, you should not use a format that will incorporate breaking changes if/when someone finds it useful. As far as I understand the default serialization format is for network communications, so it is designed for maximum performance.
There is also the HDF5.jl package that uses a documented format and a common library that has wrappers for different languages.
I believe the official answer here is, "people will try not to break the serialization format, but you shouldn't depend upon on it."

Define signal for "Simulate arbitrary signal" from database

I managed to make some arbitrary signals manually, but I want to define them in a database and at the define signal part from the Arbitrary signal properties I would like to take the values from a DB.
I have never worked with DB in Labview, and I'm a labview noob. Do you know some tutorials or schemas for what I'm trying to do? Thanks.

Free alternatives to NI's DB kit. Without knowing more about your DB, whether it is already set up or not, what type of DB it is, etc, it's hard to provide more help than this.

vCard Parsing different parameters

I need to write a vCard Parser.
Now the problem is that the Vcard I get can have n number of paramenters
Like say
TEL;CELL:123
or
TEL;CELL;VOICE:123
or
TEL:HOME;CELL;VOICE:123
now how i get this format really depends on my sources(which can be diverse and many).
Now I need to make a generic reader which can identify tht all these different set of parameters can map to a single field(in this case Mobile number), but the way of sending this information varies across all sources(google, MS, Nokia).
can someone please give any suggestion on how to handle such situation
vCard is a bloody mess to parse, especially since almost nothing out there produces RFC 2426-compliant output. For similar reasons I ended up writing a vCard parser / validator which you can use to massage the data into compliance. I use it daily to keep my own vCards (a few hundred people/companies) compliant, and the result has for example been that Gmail now imports all of them properly, address, phones, images and all.

How to decode SAP text from from STXL.CLUSTD?

I know ! The "proper" way to read STXL.CLUSTD is through SAP ABAP function. But I'm sorry, we are suffering badly from performance problem. We have already make our decision to go directly to the database (Oracle), and we don't have any plan to revert our decision yet since everything goes so much better so far.
However, we've came across this issue. The text in STXL.CLUSTD field was stored in an incomprehensible format. We cannot find any information about its encoding format via google. Anybody can hint me how to decode text from STXL.CLUSTD ?

Short version: You don't. Use the function module READ_TEXT.
Long version: You're looking at a so-called cluster table. See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/fc/eb3bf8358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm for the details. The data you see is an internal representation of the text, somehow related to the way the ABAP kernel handles the data internally. This data does not make any sense without the metadata. If you change the original structure in an incompatible way, the data can no longer be read. Oh, and did I mention that the data does not contain a reference to the metadata? When reading the contents of these tables, even in ABAP, you need to know the original source data structure, otherwise you're doomed. Without the metadata and the knowledge of how the kernel handles these data types at runtime, you'll have a hard time deciphering the contents.
Personal opinion: Direct access to the database below the SAP R/3 system is a really bad idea since this not only bypasses all safety measures, but it also makes you very vulnerable to all structural changes of the database. The only real reason for accessing the database directly is not lack of performance, but lack of (ABAP) knowledge, and that should be curable :-)
You can definitely read clusters and pools without running any ABAP code, or invoking RFC's or BAPI's, etc. it is a very good approach, highly performant, and easy to use.
I don't like people flogging their products in StackOverflow, but the information that you must use ABAP to access SAP data has been outdated for over 7 years now.

I just noticed this thread and I work for Simplement. Snow_FFFF is correct (BTW, that user is not me, and ASFAIK is not anyone in our company). The Data Liberator product has been de-clustering and de-pooling tables (and many other things) for our customers since 2009.
