Run Configuration Error: There is nothing to run in compound configuration - intellij-idea

I have 4 Spring Boot applications and I decided to create a workspace to use single window for all of them. I created an Empty Project then added my projects via File -> New -> Module from Existing Sources. All looking good but when I add configuration Run/Debug Configurations, Compound, and click the (+) to add I got empty selection "Nothing to show" and an error message below "Run Configuration Error: There is nothing to run".

You add to Compound Run Configuration other Run Configurations which were created previously. Please check Create compound run/debug configurations.

Gradle sync fails when creating a new Kotlin project with default settings in freshly installed IntelliJ IDEA

I wanted to learn some Kotlin so I installed IntelliJ IDEA, created a new Kotlin project with the default settings and then the IDE tells me that Gradle sync has failed. Here's the error message:
Could not open init generic class cache for initialization script 'C:\Users\<my_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\wrapper_init.gradle' (C:\Users\<my_name>\.gradle\caches\6.8\scripts\344chmz69zyndatc9zp4rwux5).
> BUG! exception in phase 'semantic analysis' in source unit '_BuildScript_' Unsupported class file major version 60
I googled the error and got a suggestion to try a different JDK version. Tried a few different versions but that didn't help. Then I installed the IDE on my laptop to see if that works and there I don't get any errors. As far as I can tell, the project settings were exactly the same on both machines but obviously something is messed up on my desktop computer. Both have Windows 10.
I'm also not at all familiar with the Java/Kotlin ecosystem or the build tools or whatever so I honestly have no idea how I could even begin fixing some Gradle errors. I don't really even know what Gradle is or what it does. So can you help me?
First, check the version which the project uses: File > Project Structure. Or, during project creation (https://i.stack.imgur.com/SXIzQ.png / example with SDK 1.8)
It has to be the same as JDK / SDK installed on your computer.
To verify java version installed in your terminal:
java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_252"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_252-8u252-b09-1~19.10-b09)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.252-b09, mixed mode)

Delete /options/code.style.schemes file. It's not used by the IDE and is a leftover from some old version.

How can I open .zul file in Intellij?

I have downloaded the ZK plugin, but when I create a .zul file, it is just recognized as an unknown file for intellij. I tried resetting cache and rebooting, didn't make a difference..
Is there a way to connect the plugin to the extension? Am I missing something here?
I had quite the opposite experience, I created a .zul file and IntelliJ automatically suggested something like: "There's a plugin available that handles .zul files, would you like to install download and it?" -> confirmed and restarted ... Then .zul files are registered as XML files under Settings/File Types and code completion is working.
Not sure how this is failing for you, can you provide your version details including the plugins installed?
Here what I am using (Help/About):

IntelliJ 2019.2 Services tool window missing

I just updated to IntelliJ 2019.2 but I can't find the new Services tool window (described here). Neither View - Tool Windows - Services nor Alt + 8 is showing it. What am I missing?
Additional Information:
IntelliJ IDEA 2019.2 (Ultimate Edition)
Build #IU-192.5728.98, built on July 23, 2019
Runtime version: 11.0.3+12-b304.10 amd64
VM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM by JetBrains s.r.o
Windows 7 6.1
The tool window automatically pops up when you run something related to a managed service (for example, run a Docker container). However, in case of run/debug configurations, you have to specify which types you want to be available in the Services tool window. For this, go to Run | Edit Configurations, select Templates, and add necessary configuration types to the Configurations available in Services list: https://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2019/08/services-tool-window-one-place-to-rule-them-all/

How do i configure WebLogic 8.1 to use a specific JRE / JDK on my development machiine

How do i configure WebLogic 8.1 to use a specific JRE / JDK on my development machine. I realized that it is using hot spot and i would like to change it to run on JRockit.
You need to change the JAVA_VENDOR setting in the setDomainEnv.sh/.cmd file (depending whether you are running a Linux or Windows box).
Adding/changing the following lines to the start of your setDomainEnv file should work:
set JAVA_VENDOR=BEA
set BEA_JAVA_HOME=(path to your jrockit installation, e.g. c:\BEA\jrockit)
Now you should start the server. You can monitor, in the console (stdout), the indication about which Java version is being used:
starting weblogic with Java version:
java version "1.6.0_05"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_05-b13)
BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.0-50_o-100423-1.6.0_05-20080626-2105-windows-ia32, compiled mode)
It is also possible to do it during the configuration wizard, when you are adding a domain, under the Java SDK Selections tab.
