How can I wait for an animation to be finished without using a sleep in selenium using perl? - selenium

I have observed that when I fill a form with selectboxes it does not fill up correclty (it seems like sometimes the option is not selected) if I fill all parameters without a sleep between the click to open the select box and the click to select an option.
If I have a sleep between the first click and the second it seems to work properly, but if I have a big set of select boxes filling the forms slows down a lot.
Is there a way to do this in some kind of "wait for an animation to be finished"? This is the code I'm using simplified:
use strict;
use warnings;
use Selenium::Chrome;
use Selenium::Waiter qw/wait_until/;
my $chrome_driver_path = "chromedriver.exe";
my $driver;
my %settings = (
'binary' => $chrome_driver_path,
);
$driver = Selenium::Chrome->new(%settings);
$driver->get("http://mywebiste.com/myform_with_selectbox");
_set_select_box($driver, "myoption");
sub _set_select_box{
my ($driver, $input) = #_;
# Open selectbox
my $element_id = 'some_label';
my $element;
wait_until{ $element = ($driver->find_elements("//label[\#id='$element_id']"))[0] };
if (defined($element)){
$log->debug("element_id: '$element_id' found");
}else{
$log->error("element_id: '$element_id' could not be found");
return -1;
}
wait_until{$element->click()};
$log->debug("element_id '$element_id' clicked");
# sleep(1); here I put a sleep and it seems to work always
# Click item in selectbox
my $element_2_id = 'some_items';
my #elements;
wait_until{ #elements = ($driver->find_elements("//ul[\#id='$element_2_id']//li")) };
if (defined($elements[0])){
$log->debug("element_2_id: '$element_2_id' found");
}else{
$log->error("element_2_id: '$element_2_id' could not be found");
return -1;
}
my $selectbox_text = $config->val( 'MyOptions', $input);
return -1 if (!defined($selectbox_text));
foreach my $element_2 (#elements){
my $option_text = $element_2->get_text();
$option_text = encode('UTF-8', $option_text, Encode::FB_CROAK) if (defined($option_text)); # otherwise selenium does not return utf8
if ($option_text eq $selectbox_text){
$log->debug("selectbox_text '$selectbox_text' found");
wait_until{$element_2->click()};
$log->debug("selectbox_text '$selectbox_text' clicked");
return 1;
}else{
$log->debug("Selectbox text does not match Found: '$option_text' Expected '$selectbox_text'");
}
}
return 0;

How to exclude certain images from autosave in Gatan Digital Micrograph (GMS) in DM-script

I am trying to mimic the autosave function in GMS v3 so that I can use in version 1 and 2. I would like to first acknowledge that the main bulk of the script originates from Dr Bernhard Schaffer's "How to script... Digital Micrograph Scripting Handbook". I have modified it a bit, so that any new image recorded by the camera can be autosave into the file. However, I met some problems because if I decide to click on live-view image and move the image around, or using live-fft, the live view image or the FFT image will be saved as well. One of the ideas I have is to use the taggroup information such as the "Acquisition:Parameters:Parameter Set Name" because for live view or live-FFT, this would be either in search or focus mode. Another idea is to use the document ID e.g iDocID = idoc.ImageDocumentGETID() to locate the ID of the live image. However, i am clueless then how to use this information to exclude them from autosaving. Can anyone point to me how i can proceed with this script?
Below is the script
Class PeriodicAutoSave : Object
{
Number output
PeriodicAutoSave(Object self) Result("\n Object ID"+self.ScriptObjectGetID()+" created.")
~PeriodicAutoSave(Object self) Result("\n Object ID"+self.ScriptObjectGetID()+" destroyed")
Void Init2(Object self, Number op)
output=op
Void AutoSave_SaveAll(Object self)
{
String path, name, targettype, targettype1, area, mag, mode, search, result1
ImageDocument idoc
Number nr_idoc, count, index_i, index, iDocID, iDocID_search
path = "c:\\path\\"
name = "test"
targettype=="Gatan Format (*.dm4)"
targettype1 = "dm4"
If (output) Result("\n AutoSave...")
nr_idoc = CountImageDocuments()
For (count = 1; count<nr_idoc; count++)
{
idoc = GetImageDocument(count) //imagedocument
index = 1 // user decide the index to start with
index_i= nr_idoc - index
If (idoc.ImageDocumentIsDirty())
{
idoc = getfrontimagedocument()
iDocID = idoc.ImageDocumentGetID()
TagGroup tg = ImageGetTagGroup(idoc.ImageDocumentGetImage(0)) // cannot declare an 'img' for this line as it will prompt an error?
tg.TagGroupGetTagAsString("Microscope Info:Formatted Indicated Mag", mag)
Try{
{
idoc.ImageDocumentSavetoFile( "Gatan Format", path+index_i+"-"+name+"-"+mag+".dm4")
idoc.ImageDocumentSetName(index_i + "-"+name+"-"+mag+".dm4")
idoc.ImageDocumentClean()
}
If (Output) Result("\n\t saving: "+idoc.ImageDocumentGetCurrentFile())
}
Catch{
Result("\n image cannot be saved at the moment:" + GetExceptionString())
Break
}
Result("\ Continue autosave...")
}
}
}
}
Void LaunchAutoSave()
{
Object obj = Alloc(PeriodicAutoSave)
obj.Init2(2)
Number task_id = obj.AddMainThreadPeriodicTask("AutoSave_SaveALL",6)
//Sleep(10)
while(!shiftdown()) 1==2
RemoveMainThreadTask(task_id)
}
LaunchAutoSave()
thank you very much for your pointers! I have tried and it works very well with my script. as the 'TagGroupDoesTagExist' only refers to the taggroup, I modified further to include the tags I want to filter e.g "Search" or "Focus" and it seems to work well. The script that I modified to your existing ones is as below :
If (idoc.ImageDocumentIsDirty())
{
//now find out what is a filter condition and skip if it is true
skip = 0
TagGroup tg = idoc.ImageDocumentGetImage(0).ImageGetTagGroup()
tg.TagGroupGetTagAsString("Microscope Info:Formatted Indicated Mag", mag)
tg.TagGroupGetTagAsString("Acquisition:Parameters:Parameter Set Name", mode)
skip = tg.TagGroupDoesTagExist("Acquisition:Parameters:Parameter Set Name")
if(skip && (mode == "Search" || mode== "Focus")) continue
Your idea of filtering is a good one, but there is something strange with your for loop.
in
nr_idoc = CountImageDocuments()
For (count = 1; count<nr_idoc; count++)
{
idoc = GetImageDocument(count) //imagedocument
you iterate over all currently open imageDocuments (except the first one!?) and get them one by one, but then in
If (idoc.ImageDocumentIsDirty())
{
idoc = getfrontimagedocument()
you actually get the front-most (selected) document instead each time. Why are you doing this?
Why not go with:
number nr_idoc = CountImageDocuments()
for (number count = 0; count<nr_idoc; count++)
{
imagedocument idoc = GetImageDocument(count)
If (idoc.ImageDocumentIsDirty())
{
// now find out what is a filter condition and skip if it is true
number skip = 0
TagGroup tg = idoc.ImageDocumentGetImage(0).ImageGetTagGroup()
skip = tg.TagGroupDoesTagExist("Microscope Info:Formatted Indicated Mag")
if (skip) continue
// do saving
}
}

PHP InstanceOf works locally but not on host server

I have an issue with PHP 7's instanceof statement that is only happening on certain conditions.
It seems that instanceof works locally on my dev machine (MAMP Pro running PHP 7.0.13) but not on my Hosted Server (HostEurope, PHP 7).
I have tried the following :
downgrading to PHP 5.6
using is_a instead
Using fully qualified name e.g. \Site\Ad
but they all exhibit the same behaviour.
I've tried Googling "PHP instanceof not working" and variations of it but I haven't found anything relevant.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced something similar or possible solutions to try?
The Code in question is:
<?php
namespace Site;
require_once(__DIR__."/../interface/IOutput.php");
require_once(__DIR__."/../lib/Lib.php");
require_once(__DIR__."/../site/AdMediumRectangle.php");
require_once(__DIR__."/../site/AdSnapBanner.php");
require_once(__DIR__."/../const/Const.php");
class AdFactory
{
/**
* Define(AD_BANNER, 0);
* Define(AD_RECTANGE, 1);
* Define(AD_SUPERBANNER, 2);
* Define(AD_SKYSCRAPER, 3);
**/
/**
* #param $object
* #return AdMediumRectangle|AdSnapBanner|string
*/
public static function CreateObject($object)
{
$ad = wire(pages)->get("/ads/")->children->getRandom();
if ($ad == null)
return new \Exception("No Random Ad found");
switch ($object) {
case AD_BANNER:
echo "AD_Banner Selected\r\n";
$adSnapBanner = new AdSnapBanner($ad);
return $adSnapBanner;
break;
case AD_RECTANGLE:
echo "AD Rectangle Created\r\n";
$adRectangle = new AdMediumRectangle($ad);
return $adRectangle;
break;
case AD_SUPERBANNER:
case AD_SKYSCRAPER:
default:
echo "AdFactory BlankObject created";
return "";
break;
}
}
public static function Markup($object)
{
$obj = AdFactory::CreateObject($object);
if (($obj instanceof AdSnapBanner) || ($obj instanceof AdMediumRectangle)) {
echo "InstanceOf worked";
return $obj->Markup();
}
else {
echo "return blankString";
return "";
}
}
}
Update : This is the code that calls the above AdFactory class
<?php
namespace Site;
require_once(__DIR__."/../interface/IOutput.php");
require_once(__DIR__."/../lib/Lib.php");
require_once(__DIR__."/../factory/AdFactory.php");

$count = 1; //$ads->count();
if ($count > 0) {

echo "mod=" . $mod . "\r\n";
if ($mod == $ad_pos) {
switch ($mod) {
case AD_POS_TITLE;

//Pick an Snap Banner

//Pick an Ad Rectangle
return AdFactory::Markup(AD_RECTANGLE);
break;
default:
return "";
break;
}
} else
return "";
} else
return "";
}
}
instanceof is a language construct which is so essential to PHP that it is de facto impossible not to work properly.
The code you provided is not enough to tell where the issue might be happening.
Chances are, you have a folder not readable on your online server and simply get somewhere a null value instead of an expected object along your code. Ask yourself: "If it is not the object I expect, what else is it?"
Use var_dump() or printf() to investigate what your variables actually contain and you will find the error soon.
For your code, PHPUnit tests would be a benefit, or at least the use of assert() here and there in your code.
Turns out there was a bug in 1 of the API calls I was making to the Processwire CMS.
$ad = wire(pages)->get("/ads/")->children->getRandom();
And my local and server instance of Processwire was not the same version, which was news to me. I normally have it synchronised, including any modules I use.
I also suspect my null check is not correct PHP, to add to the problem.
It has to do with namespaces used in the code:
Locally (Code with no namespaces) I used this, working fine:
if ($xmlornot instanceof SimpleXMLElement) { }
But on the server (code with namespaces) only this worked:
if ($xmlornot instanceof \SimpleXMLElement) { }

Read 'hidden' input for CLI Dart app

What's the best way to receive 'hidden' input from a command-line Dart application? For example, in Bash, this is accomplished with:
read -s SOME_VAR
Set io.stdin.echoMode to false:
import 'dart:io' as io;
void main() {
io.stdin.echoMode = false;
String input = io.stdin.readLineSync();
// or
var input;
while(input != 32) {
input = io.stdin.readByteSync();
if(input != 10) print(input);
}
// restore echoMode
io.stdin.echoMode = true;
}
This is a slightly extended version, key differences are that it uses a finally block to ensure the mode is reset if an exception is thrown whilst the code is executing.
The code also uses a waitFor call (only available in dart cli apps) to turn this code into a synchronous call. Given this is a cli command there is no need for the complications that futures bring to the table.
The code also does the classic output of '*' as you type.
If you are doing much cli work the below code is from the dart package I'm working on called dcli. Have a look at the 'ask' method.
https://pub.dev/packages/dcli
String readHidden() {
var line = <int>[];
try {
stdin.echoMode = false;
stdin.lineMode = false;
int char;
do {
char = stdin.readByteSync();
if (char != 10) {
stdout.write('*');
// we must wait for flush as only one flush can be outstanding at a time.
waitFor<void>(stdout.flush());
line.add(char);
}
} while (char != 10);
} finally {
stdin.echoMode = true;
stdin.lineMode = true;
}
// output a newline as we have suppressed it.
print('');
return Encoding.getByName('utf-8').decode(line);
}

How can I read Variables from data pool with Selenium IDE?

I am using Selenium IDE to test a web based HR/SW system.
There is a screen that used to enter vacation for employees.
I am having nearly 3000 employee.
I built a test case that enter vacations for one employee using variables.
How can I repeat the test case for all 3000 employees without creating the test case 3000 times. It will take an impossible effort to do that. Note: Each employee is having different vacation data (Type, start date, End date)
Is there any way that I can use a file (Excel,....) that variable can use to read its data from?
Is there any solution for my case???
I will be very very grateful I any one could help me.
Thank you.
You could use an XML file as an input.
1) At first you have to add following user extensions:
sideflow.js - (http://51elliot.blogspot.com/2008/02/selenium-ide-goto.html - additionally this article explains how to add user extension files)
datadriven.js
include.js
At the moment I can't find links where I took the last two, therefore I will give their code in the end of my post. Code is taken from my working directory. You just put the code to correspondent files, then add files to SelemiunIDE user extension and use them.
2) Create an XML file test_data.xml:
<testdata>
<test employee="1" type="1" startDate="01.01.2013" endDate="01.02.2013" />
<test employee="2" type="1" startDate="01.02.2013" endDate="01.03.2013" />
<test employee="3" type="1" startDate="01.03.2013" endDate="01.04.2013" />
...
</testdata>
3) In your test case use code like this:
${DataPath} - full path to a directory with XML-files
<!--BEGIN LOOP-->
<tr>
<td>loadTestData</td>
<td>file://${DataDir}/test_data.xml</td>
<td></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>while</td>
<td>!testdata.EOF()</td>
<td></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>nextTestData</td>
<td></td>
<td></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>echo</td>
<td>employee=${employee} type=${type} ...</td>
<td></td>
</tr>
...
<!--END LOOP-->
<tr>
<td>endWhile</td>
<td></td>
<td></td>
</tr>
Used user extensions:

Current solution is a SelBlocks component which allows you to do cycles according to the dataset in XML
ForXML | XMLFileName.XML
... test case steps
EndForXML
The XML should have specific structure
<testdata>
<vars storedVariable1="xxxxx" storedVariable2="yyyyy" .. storedVariableN="zzzzz" />
.. other record(s)
</testdata>
Each stored variable vill be available in test case as ${storedVariableN}.
You can produce XML by MS Excel or LibreOffice using Formulas like this one and copy it to whole table:
="<vars "&
" "&$A$1&"="""&A2&""" "&
" "&$B$1&"="""&B2&""" "&
..
" "&$X$1&"="""&X2&""" "&
"/>")
XML can be easily copypasted after each change of the dataset.
Selblocks contains the while, datadriven, goto, loop and other extensions mentioned in previous answers. You can use other functionalities of the Selblocks as conditional jumps, conditions, catch-try blocks, functions, etc. See full reference here: http://refactoror.wikia.com/wiki/Selblocks_Reference
Beware with new Selenium 3 release and Sel Core absence it is not guaranteed, that tests with Selblock addon will work in the future versions of the firefox.
You can also check this very nice blog article:
http://seleniumworks.blogspot.com/2014/01/selenium-ide-data-driven.html
This gives an explanation on how to use the needed plugins and where to download them from. It worked perfectly for me.
This answer pretty much has the same approach as the one provided by #Yevgen Ulyanenkov as I used his answer in order to find the above article. But has some more googling to it that hopefully will be helpful to someone.
I think you need to use loop I don't see your code so just check this one for selenium-ide loop If you have any more problem if so comment my answer. I can't comment into your question because reputation is not enough so. If possible please add your code into your question.

Use of SPStatefulLongOperation

Can someone give me an example of the use of SPStatefulLongOperation? It's very poorly documented.
Here's an example of code I've just used. It applies a ThmxTheme (selectedTheme) to all SPWebs in an SPSite (site).
SPStatefulLongOperation.Begin(
"Applying theme to sites.",
"<span id='trailingSpan'></span>",
(op) =>
{
op.Run((opState) =>
{
for (int i = 0; i < site.AllWebs.Count; i++)
{
// Update status.
opState.Status = String.Format(
"<script type='text/javascript'>document.all.item('trailingSpan').innerText = '{0} ({1} of {2})';</script>",
site.AllWebs[i].Title,
i + 1,
site.AllWebs.Count);
// Set the theme.
selectedTheme.ApplyTo(site.AllWebs[i], true);
}
});
op.End(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferrer.ToString());
});
Note that the current value of opState.State is appended to the client's HTML (via HttpContext.Current.Response.Write and .Flush) every second. Thus you don't want to send any status message directly; you want to send some JavaScript that will update an existing status element on the page. (Here, the trailingSpan element.)
