How do I move the mouse pointer in Selenium IDE? - selenium

How do I move my mouse in selenium IDE? E.g. a command moving the mouse pointer 14 pixels to the left.

Selenium IDE is a record and play application. It wasn't design to allow people performing other complex things, just record and play (and manage locators that can change).
If you want to do more complex things, you can try to use Selenium with an OOP language (java, c#, ruby, python etc).

Using code to automatically click a mouse

I'm working with a Bloomberg data sheet and I need to export this sheet into Excel. The only way of doing so is through clicking the "export" button in the Bloomberg window. Is there any way to use code to accomplish this click. I would appreciate help with 1) indicating which coding language should be used 2) the physical code syntax that can accomplish my goal
I've tried using VBA, but there is no automatic control of the mouse.
There are two alternatives you may use to simulate mouse and keyboard automation on Windows platform.
AutoHotKey
AutoIT
I would personally recommend using AutoHotKey. It has a very extensive documentation and a fairly active community.
Additionally, please try to use keyboard shortcuts (E.g Alt+F) instead of mouse movements. If you're using keyboard shortcuts, you'll be less prone to unwanted behaviour.
Extra: If you have a web application, you may use Selenium. It works neatly with Java or Python.

Multiple Cursors for Sikuli Automation

Is there an already existing program which creates a dummy cursor for Sikuli to use whilst the user maintains control of the Mouse cursor? I am looking for ways to make debugging code less arduous when working with Sikuli. Any tips in that regard are also welcomed!
This is not possible as Sikuli does not mock a mouse cursor but works with mouse and keyboard through Java Robot library to generate native system input events. Some doco on that can be found here.

Which language should be used to create Auto-IT like scripts for screen detection?

I require guidance about auto-IT scripts(scripts that automatically control windows screen on base of scripts written). I need to know the language in which I can create such scripts or pre-made scripts which automatically control screen by detecting opened window and deciding what to do accordingly.
I mean to say the product should detect the screen and then decide what to do.
I think you don't know that AutoIt is a programming language.
You should use the
ControllClick
MouseClick
WinMove
WinActivate
commands.
Just googlesearch: AutoIt "command" and read how they work.
Good luck

Controlling USB keyboard and mouse

We have a hardware device, with an LCD display. It supports an USB interface to connect keyboard and mose. Using these keyboard and mouse, we can navigate to varios menu items and edit entries.
We have couple of test cases written to verify that mouse click and keyboard input events are working when pressed respective key.
My task is to automate these test cases.
I donot have any control to the hardware device, as I can not access the o/s kernel or any application running there. There is one way to verify what is currently displayed on the UI. So I have to use that and verify whether the mouse/keyboard has performed the appropriate events.
As I have gone through couple of previous posts, it seems like that one of the way to achieve this is through virual HID device driver rather than actual keyboard and mosue. But I am not sure how to achieve it.
Please do help me for it. I am fine with any programming language.
I am more interested to simulate the mouse and keyboard events.
You probably don't need to write your own driver. AutoHotKey does pretty much anything you can think of, and the scripting language is quite easy to learn.
You can get it here:

Since you're using linux, here's a similar project that will run on linux:

Some mouse clicks don't register in Selenium

I've got a rather Javascript-heavy page with lots of contents generated via AJAX or other scripts. On some of these elements Selenium can record mouse clicks, while on others it ignores them. I haven't found any correlation. Perhaps there are some known common scenarios where Selenium cannot intercept mouse clicks?
Unfortunately not all clicks in Selenium are equal. Some are mouseDown and MouseUp or a variation on that. I would play around with that to get your app working.
Unfortunately Selenium IDE has been misrepresented. It is a Record/Tweak/Playback tool not a record/playback tool.
There's no list of actions that are unreliable. In my experience there's no pattern to which elements work, but it's consistent throughout executions of the test. In case you were thinking about it, playing around with locators or UI-Elements is very unlikely to improve your results.
I recently had a situation with a number of dropdown menus, all implemented in the same way, on multiple different pages. On certain pages, dropdown #2 and #3 wouldn't work, yet on other pages they would work, but dropdowns #1 and #2 wouldn't.
As has already been pointed out, the best thing to do is stop thinking about Selenium IDE as a record-playback tool.
On a sidenote, you may be asking this question for a similar reason I was, which was wanting to use Selenium IDE as a frontend for teammates without Selenium programming experience to create tests with, then one thing I did find helpful was extending the Selenium IDE by adding a Command Builder, which allows you to control what appears in the right-click menu when using the IDE.
This means you can press record, go about recording your test as normal while keeping an eye on what has been recorded. Once you see Selenium IDE has failed to record an action, you can just right-click the element and the action you wanted to record will be easily available.
Not a solution to your original question, but it's helped me out. It's very simple to write an extension to the right-click menu, there's some really good examples on this Selenium website.
I'm a 100% selenium noob, but I had the same problem and solved it through the following workaround:
Right-click the to-be-clicked item
Choose a random command that has the entire locator text, e.g. assertText //div[2]/div[5]/table/tbody/tr[1]/td[1]/div IR or something. Look inside "Show all available commands" too.
In the Selenium IDE, change the command to "click" and remove the 2nd argument (the Value field; if any)
Hacky, and should be easily improved with a custom command in the right-click menu, but for now this works fine for me.
Did you try clickAt with location (0,0)? It sometimes helps
If you have assigned an ID to the element you want to click I would suggest you try a simple script, you can perform this through the IDE:
runScriptAndWait
jQuery("#yourButton").trigger('click');
I have used this in the past and it works just fine.
