I am having trouble figuring this out... I am trying to write an SQL query to subtract 2 values from this table:

I need to create a query that will return the result from the value in CBBR where Policy = 12345 and benefit = A then subtract the value in IBBR where Policy = 12345 and benefit = B ($1.34 - 0.56)
Any ideas?
I am not clear that you want the diff for only 1 value "B" or the pattern will go on if condition (Policy = 12345 and benefit ='A') to get the diff of next row.
ASSUMING diff you want to calculate for all next rows

Ankit Jindal has already gave a correct answeh. However, I'd like to note that there's no need to use any subquery as they can significantly slown down the performance. In this particular case, a JOIN operator is enough:
SELECT
rta.CBBR-rtb.IBBR as Result
FROM RateTable as rta
JOIN RateTable as rtb ON rtb.Policy=rta.Policy AND rtb.Benefit='B'
WHERE Policy=12345
AND Benefit='A'
As per the details mentioned in query, you need difference between CBBR & IBBR for particular conditions.
SELECT CBBR-
(SELECT IBBR
FROM RateTable
WHERE Policy = 12345
AND benefit = 'B') AS IBBR
FROM RateTable
WHERE Policy = 12345
AND benefit = 'A';
But if you need generalized query then we probably gonna use SUM or something else.
Your question requires more explanation, based on my understanding I think you should use case statement as-
Select
Case when (Policy = 12345 and benefit = A) then CBBR
When (Policy = 12345 and benefit = B) then CBBR-IBBR
END as Value
From Yourtable

I know how to get a count of the records returned by the original query, but not how to calculate the percentage.
Since you're looking for a percentage of some condition being met across the entire dataset, the task can be reduced to having a function return either 1 (when the condition is validated), or 0 (when the condition is not validated), and then calculating an average across all records.
This could be achieved in a number of ways, one example might be to use a basic iif statement:
select avg(iif(t.ans1=t.ans2,1,0)) from YourTable t
Or, using the knowledge that a boolean value in MS Access is represented using -1 (True) or 0 (False), the expression can be reduced to:
select -avg(t.ans1=t.ans2) from YourTable t
In each of the above, change YourTable to the name of your table.
If you know how to get a count, then apply that same knowledge twice:
SELECT Count([ANS1]) As MatchCount FROM [Data]
WHERE [ANS1] = [ANS2]
divided by the total count
SELECT Count([ANS1]) As AllCount FROM [Data]
To combine both of these in a basic SQL query, one needs a "dummy" query since Access doesn't allow selection of only raw data:
SELECT TOP 1
((SELECT Count([ANS1]) As MatchCount FROM [Data] WHERE [ANS1] = [ANS2])
/
(SELECT Count([ANS1]) As AllCount FROM [Data]))

This of course assumes that there is at least one row... so it doesn't divide by zero.
Title might be confusing.
I have a table of Cases, and each Case can contain many Tasks. To achieve a different workflow for each Task, I have different tables such as Case_Emails, Case_Calls, Case_Chats, etc...
I want to build a Query that will eventually be exported to Excel. In this query, I want to list out each Task, and the Tasks are already joined together via a UNION in another table using a common format. For each task in the Query, I want only the first Task associated with a case to include the details from Cases table. Example below:

My original approach was attempting a LEFT JOIN on Case ID, but I couldn't figure out how to filter the data out from the extra rows.
This would be much simpler if Access supported the ROW_NUMBER function. It doesn't, but you can sort of simulate it with a correlated subquery using the Tasks table (this assumes that each task has a unique numeric ID). This basically assigns a row number to each task, partitioned by the CaseID. Then you can just conditionally display the CaseID and AgentName where RowNum = 1.

You didn't post your table structure, so I'm not sure this will work for you as-is, but maybe you can adapt it.
No matter what when you join you will have duplicate values. to remove the duplicates either put in a Distinct in your select or a Group by after your filters. This should resolve the duplicates in you query for task info 1,2,3.
Found out that I can name my tables in the query like so:
FROM Case_Calls Calls
With this other name, I was able to filter based on a sub query:
IIF( Calls.[ID] <> (select top 1 [ID] from Case_Calls where [Case ID] = Calls.[Case ID]), '', Cases.[Creator]) As [Case Creator]
This solution gives me the results that I want :) It's rather ugly SQL, and difficult to parse when I'm dealing with dozens of columns, but it gets the job done!
I'm still curious if there is a better solution...
I'm trying to create a query in SQL Server to determine how many times a person's name shows up in a list, but also that list will be unknown, so I would have to get the actual name from the previous select index... It's hard to explain so I'll show the query first and hopefully someone can help.

I have a question concerning MS Access queries involving these tables:
tblMIDProcessMain ={ Process_ID,Process_Title,...}
tblMIDProcessVersion = { ProcessVersion_ID, ProcessVersion_FK_Process, ProcessVersion_VersionNo, ProcessVersion_FK_Status, ...}
tblMIDProcessVersionStatus = { ProcessVersionStatus_ID,ProcessVersionStatus_Value }
The tables store different versions of a process description. The "ProcessVersion_VersionNo" field contains an integer providing the version number. Now I would like to get for each process the highest version number thus the current version. If I do the following it kind of works:
SELECT tblMIDProcessMain.Process_Titel
, Max(tblMIDProcessVersion.ProcessVersion_VersionNo) AS CurrentVersion
FROM tblMIDProcessMain
INNER JOIN tblMIDProcessVersion
ON tblMIDProcessMain.Process_ID = tblMIDProcessVersion.ProcessVersion_FK_Process
GROUP BY tblMIDProcessMain.Process_Titel;
The query returns a recordset with each existing process_title and the respective max number of the version field. But as soon as I add other fields like "ProcessVersion_FK_Status" in the Select statement the query stops working.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I assume you are adding the new field to the 'Group By" clause? If not, then you either must include in the 'Group By', or you must use one of the operators like "Max" or "First" etc.

Basically given two run values (r1, r2, with r2 > r1) I want to determine which rows having row = r2 have a different line, checksum or group from any row where row = r1.
select * from yourtable
where run = 2 and checksum = (select max(checksum)
from yourtable)
Assuming your last run will have the higher run value than others, below SQL will help
select * from table1 t1
where t1.run in
(select max(t2.run) table1 t2)

Above SQL may not give you the right rows because your requirement is not so clear. But the overall idea is to fetch the rows based on the latest run parameters.

Incidentally, I assume that the "group" column in your table isn't actually called group - this is a reserved word in SQL and would need to be enclosed in double quotes (or backticks or square brackets, depending on which RDBMS you are using).
