When i create a data source from my Weblogic version 10.3.3.0 to Oracle Database 12C.
I get the below error :-
Connection test failed.

I have checked my creds and jdbc string but not sure what's going wrong.
Any suggestions , please assist.
You can check if you use a simple DataSourceSample.java to connect successfully. Make sure all your credentials are correct.

I have tried everything suggested by the IBM chatbot but I did not get a solution. Please help.
This means it failed due to disabled or expired user id or wrong password or not a valid password.
Please contact your DB administrator

I'm facing a situation which every 10 seconds an error log is recorded with the following msg:
2018-07-25 09:07:09.59 Logon Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 38.
2018-07-25 09:07:09.59 Logon Login failed for user 'svc_sql'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database 'ReportServer'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]
In my instance I don't have a 'ReportServer' database. I know that in the past the server was migrated to a new machine and I reckon the 'ReportServer' database was created with a new name in the new server. I really don't know how the migration was done.
I've activated the SQL_Profiler with all audit options and I could see that this user also executes a procedure sometimes.
I've checked the default database for this user and it's Master.
Any ideas how can I fix this issue? My error log is flooding with this message.
Thanks a lot.
Rod
I've checked the default database for this user and it's Master.
The error doesn't tell you about default database but about explicitly specified database, that is different, it's the database that is mentioned in connection string under Initial Catalog or Database.
Do you see what application tries to open this database? The problem is in that application, it uses old connection string. If it's SSMS, it's simple, it's in the Options of connection dialog, but if it's another application, the connection string can be written in the ini file or hardcoded.
I don't know if I try to run DBCC CHECKDB master will solve this.
Of course it cannot solve this. This has nothing to do with database integrity. It's your client that uses wrong connection string.

If you just want to save your errorlog from these messages just turn off failed logins audit:
Or you should find this application by its name or host or client address.
Or you can temporarily disable this login and see who will call you saying he cannot login anymore, or, if it's your local machine, some of your applications will fail, this way you'll find it.
I had the same error and doing the following resolved the error for me:
From within the SQL Server Management Studio
Security
Logins
Right Click the user ID that was failing login
Server Roles
Make sure all the checkboxes are checked. Right clicked Security and refresh.
I m using Pentaho v5.2. When i tried to connect to sql server i m end with below error. I had downloaded and placed required driver sqljdbc4-2.0 jar in pdi-ce-5.2.0.0-209\data-integration\lib. Please help me as I'm new to Pentaho.
Error connecting to database [mssqlserverconn] : org.pentaho.di.core.exception.KettleDatabaseException:

From the error message you're being thrown, it's an authentication issue.
It looks like you are trying to use your username from your laptop domain - is that what you want? Does the the server accept this user name (Lenovo-PC\RamaKrishna)?
You may have been using integrated security, which basically overrides whatever you set as the username in the text-box and uses your Windows username instead.

I try to connect a PostgreSQL to SQL Server 2012 server as linked server
I found some advices on different forum and follow it. But I'm stuck with an authentication problem.
I explain:
On the SQL Server, I have install the ODBC driver for PostgreSQL (psqlodbc_09_02_0100-x64). I created a system DSN to a specific database on the PostgreSQL. This DSN work correctly.
Using SSMS, I run this command to add the linked server:
EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver
#server = N'lnk_test',
#srvproduct=N'PostgreSQL Unicode(x64)',
#provider=N'MSDASQL',
#provstr=N'Driver=PostgreSQL Unicode(x64);uid=postgres;Server=test1;database=accueil;pwd=MyPassword;SSLmode=disable;PORT=5432'
EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin
#rmtsrvname=N'lnk_test',
#useself=N'True',
#locallogin=NULL,
#rmtuser=NULL,
#rmtpassword=NULL
After running, I have a new Linked Server called "lnk_test". When I receive the following error message:
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "pgTest1_accueil".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "pgTest1_accueil" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "pgTest1_accueil" returned message "FATAL: authentification par mot de passe échouée pour l'utilisateur « postgres »". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)
The error message is in french, the traduction is: "authentication by password failed for user "postgres". I find the same error message in the log of the PostgreSQL server.
Is someone have an idea for resolving this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Jerome
[Update 2/08/2013]
I complete this post with the result of a test I realize today.
WHen using a packet sniffer, I check the packets sended when testing the connection through the ODBS Data Source Administrator (64-bit) and through the Linked Server under SSMS.
The data are the same between the 2 system for:
Opening the connection to the PostgreSQL
Sending the connection string (all parameters are the same)
the response of PostgreSQL asking for password (only different is the salt value, but it's normal)
the password are sended in the same way (crypted with MD5)
But after, the response of the server differ:
For the ODBC Data Source, all works correctly. I receive the authentication and can send test query.
For SSMS, I receive an error message (as describe upper).
Ok, I found the solution.
In the pg_hba.conf file, I change the method for sending passwords from MD5 to trust. After reloading the server, my linked server connection works.
the entry is now:
Type Database User Address Method
host all all x.x.x.x/x trust
In hope that help others peoples.
I think I found the answer; I was still getting the error with a recent version of the ODBC driver and Postgres 10.x.
The connection will work when tested in the Windows ODBC diaglog, but will fail in SQL Server. When setting the password for the remote user, place the password in curly braces.
{password}
This will keep the ODBC connection string from getting screwed up if you have certain symbols in your user's password.
