How can I use an input from another table in my query? - sql

I'm creating a new table using PostgreSQL, but I need to get a parameter from another table as an input.
This is the table I have (I called table_1):
id column_1
1 100
2 100
3 100
4 100
5 100
I want to create a new table, but only using ids that are higher than the highest id from the table above (table_1). Something like this:
insert into table_new
select id, column_1 from table_old
where id > (max(id) from table_1)
How can I do this? I tried searching, but I got to several posts like https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/M-Query-Create-a-table-using-input-from-another-table/td-p/209923, Take one table as input and output using another table BigQuery and sql query needs input from another table, which are not exactly what I need.

Just use where id > (select max(id) from table_1).

How to create a new table that only keeps rows with more than 5 data records under the same id in Bigquery

I have a table like this:

There are over 1000 records and 50 Ids in this table, most ids have about 20 records, and some ids only have 1, or 2 records which I think are useless.
I want to create a table that excludes those ids with less than 5 records.
I wrote this code to find the ids that I want to exclude:
SELECT
Id,
COUNT(Id) AS num_id
FROM `table`
GROUP BY
Id
ORDER BY
num_id
Since there are only two ids I need to exclude, I use WHERE clause:
CREATE TABLE `` AS
SELECT
*
FROM ``
WHERE
Id <> 2320127002
AND Id <> 7007744171
Although I can get the result I want, I think there are better ways to solve this kind of problem. For example, if there are over 20 ids with less than 5 records in this table, what shall I do? Thank you.
Consider this:
CREATE TABLE `filtered_table` AS
SELECT *
FROM `table`
WHERE TRUE QUALIFY COUNT(*) OVER (PARTITION BY Id) >= 5
Note: You can remove WHERE TRUE if it runs successfully without it.

SQL How to update every nth row which meets requirement

I have a table that I would like to update one column data on every nth row if it meets row requirement.
My table has many columns but the key are Object_Id (in case this could be useful for creating temp table)
But the one I'm trying to update is online_status, it looks like below, but on bigger scales so I usually have 10rows that has same time but they all have %Online% in it and in total around 2000 rows (with Online and about another 2000 with Offline). I just need to update every 2-4 rows of those 10 that are repeating itself.

So what I tried is: This pulls a list of every 3rd record that matches criteria Online, I just need a way to update it but can't get through this.

Is there a way to take list from Select code above and simply update it or run a few scripts that could add it to like temp table and store object ids, and the next script would update main table if object id would match temp table.

Don't select other columns but Object_id in the subquery at WHERE people.Object_id IN (..)

How can I remove duplicate rows from a table but keeping the summation of values of a column

Suppose there is a table which has several identical rows. I can copy the distinct values by
SELECT DISTINCT * INTO DESTINATIONTABLE FROM SOURCETABLE
but if the table has a column named value and for the sake of simplicity its value is 1 for one particular item in that table. Now that row has another 9 duplicates. So the summation of the value column for that particular item is 10. Now I want to remove the 9 duplicates(or copy the distinct value as I mentioned) and for that item now the value should show 10 and not 1. How can this be achieved?

You can try to use SUM and group by
SELECT item,SUM(value) value

GROUP BY item

Broadly speaking, you can just us a sum and a GROUP BY clause.
Something like:
SELECT column1, SUM(column2) AS Count
FROM SOURCETABLE
GROUP BY column1

Since your table probably isn't just two columns of data, here is a slightly more complex example showing how to do this to a larger table: SQL Fiddle
Note that I've selected my rows individually so that I can access the necessary data, rather than using
SELECT *
And I have achieved this result without the need for selecting data into another table.

Further to your comments, it sounds like you want to alter the actual data in your table rather than just querying it. There may be a more elegant way to do this, but a simple way use the above query to populate a temporary table, delete the contents of the existing table, then move all the data back. To do this in my existing example:

Table whose columns are random samples from an original column

I have numerical data ​​related to clinical information from people with a particular disease recorded in an specific column ('Lab') from Table A.
I need to get a Table B with 30 rows and 50 columns.
The columns of Table B should be random samples from the values ​​contained in column 'Lab' (nearly 3300 registers).
I am able to get a table with one column using:
SELECT Lab FROM Table_A sample (1) WHERE Lab IS NOT NULL;
Is it possible make a query using the SELECT command that results in Table B with all its 50 columns without the need of getting its columns one by one?
You can use the RAND operator with ORDER BY, like this:
SELECT * FROM Table_A ORDER BY RAND( ) LIMIT 0 , 30

TSQL Inserting records and track ID

I would like to insert records in a table below (structure of table with example data). I have to use TSQL to achieve this:

So for example if I enter in a new record with MasterCategoryDesc = 'Town' it will insert '4' in MasterCategoryID with the respective SubCategoryDesc + ID.
CAN I SIMPLIFY THIS QUESTION BY REMOVING THE SubCategoryDesc and SubCategoryID columns. How can I achieve this now just with the 2 columns MasterCategoryID and MasterCategoryDesc

If you want i can create a SP too. But you said you want an T-SQL
This will take three steps, preferably in a single Stored Procedure. Make sure it's within a transaction.
a) Check if the MasterCategoryDesc you are trying to insert already exists. If so, take its ID. If not, find the highest MasterCategoryID, increase by one, and save it to a variable.
b) The same with SubCategoryDesc and SubCategoryID.
c) Insert the new record with the two variables you created in steps a and b.
Create a table for the MasterCategory and a table for the SubCategory. Make an ___ID column for each one that is identity (1,1). When loading, insert new rows for nonexistent values and then look up existing values for the INSERT.
Messing around with finding the Max and looking up data in the existing table is, in my opinion, a recipe for failure.
