Qnx-neutrino can't format my partitions with fdisc, process freezes - formatting

I'm trying to format my HDD 250Gb in QNX-neutrino OS running on Oracle VM in Windows 10. I mounted my HDD and everything looks fine. I run command
fdisk /dev/hd1
And create 4 partitions with next sizes:
1325, 124684, 17265, 47496 MB
After that I run command:
mount -e /dev/hd1
And when I tried to format created partitions with commands:
mkqnx6fs –q –b4096 /dev/hd1t177
mkqnx6fs –q –b4096 /dev/hd1t178
mkqnx6fs –q –b4096 /dev/hd1t179
mkqnx6fs –q –b4096 /dev/hd1t180
the process starts and never end. Terminal is just frezees. What can I do to fix it? Or there is another way to format my partitions in this system?

I had the same issue when used VM Oracle after markup my HDD. Then I tried VM Ware and this issue was resolved.

VM Ware didn't suit me, because it counted cylinders incorrectly.
I find the solution. The problem was due to poor contact of the USB cable with my hard drive. I tried changing the usb cable and usb port and it worked fine.

Ethereum Full Node needs too much storage

I have a small question regarding my geth node.
I have started the node on my machine with the following command:
geth --snapshot=false --mainnet --syncmode "full" --datadir=$HOME/.ethereum --port 30302 --http --http.addr localhost --http.port 8543 --ws --ws.port 8544 --ws.api personal,eth,net,web3 --http.api personal,eth,net,web3
Currently a full geth node is supposed to take up around 600GB of storage on my disk. But after checking my used disk space (command on ubuntu: #du -h) I spotted this:
Can anyone explain to me, why my full node is using 1.4TB of disk space for chaindata? The node is running for some time (around two weeks) and is fully synced. I am using Ubuntu 20.04.

You set syncmode to "full" and disabled snapshot. This will get you an archive node which is much bigger than 600 GB. You can still get a full (but not archive) node by running with the default snapshot and syncmode settings.

Why is fdisk -l showing different results for the same vdi virtual drive when different virtual machines are used in VirtualBox

VirtualBox (Version 5.2.24 r128163 (Qt5.6.2)) user with xubuntu guest (Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS) and Windows 10 host here.
I recently tried to resize my vdi from ~100GB to 200GB. In windows I used the command:
./VBoxManage modifyhd "D:\xub2\xub2.vdi" --resize 200000
That went fine. Then I used a gparted live cd to create a vm, attached the vdi and resize the partitions:
gparted gui
All looks good. If I then use the 'fdisk -l' command whilst in the gparted vm the increased partition sizes are visible as expected.

If I try and resize the file system for one of the newly resized logical drives with 'resize2fs /dev/sda5' I am told it is already 46265856 blocks long and there is nothing to do.
However....
If I then re-attach this vdi to an ubuntu vm and boot up with the vdi, the 'fdisk -l' command gives different results and is basically telling me that the drive is still 100GB in size.

If I try the command 'resize2fs /dev/sda5' I get the result:
The filesystem is already 22003712 (4k) blocks long. Nothing to do!
How can I fix this and make the ubuntu vm see that the disk and partitions have been increase in size?
Ok. I will answer my own question (thank you for the negative vote anonymous internet).
This issue occurs when you have existing snapshots of the drive that you are trying to expand associated with a VirtualBox VM.
I found this described in VirtualBox's documentation.

One suggested solution is to delete the snapshots, however I got an error message when I attempted that.
The solution that worked for me was to clone my VM. The cloned VM (which did not have any snapshots associated with it), behaved as expected and showed the correct size for the resized disk.
To be clear: the situation I described above is 100% true.

Booting raw-disk windows 10 vm in virtualbox boots to grub shell

I have a dual-boot setup with Windows 10 and Kubuntu 18. Following instructions found from here and there I managed to get the Windows to run as guest in Kubuntu host as a VM using VirtualBox.
sudo usermod -a -G disk $USER
VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename "/path/to/vm/win10.vmdk" -rawdisk /dev/sda -partitions 1,3,4 -relative
The first line is to avoid running VirtualBox as superuser.
When I boot the VM, I briefly see an error message
Boot Failed. EFI DVD/CDROM
SystemBootOrder not found. Initializing defaults.
Creating boot entry "Boot0003" with label "ubuntu" for file "\EFI\ubuntu\shimx64.efi"
and then end up in grub shell. Now, when I run the commands
insmod chain
set root=(hd0,gpt1)
chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
boot
Windows boots and works just fine but entering these every time is not exactly smooth workflow. Any idea how to permanently fix this?
Please note that I'd still like to be able to physically boot into both OS's.

I had the same problem. I fixed it, but then updated my kernel and so grub re-un-fixed it for me! Figuring it out for the second time was quicker, but I figured it'd be even quicker next time to find my answer on StackOverflow!
My grub.cfg file in /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu looked like this:
search.fs_uuid 47d6233f-c0ae-4f89-bf18-184452eac803 root hd0,gpt6
set prefix=($root)'/boot/grub'
configfile $prefix/grub.cfg
Because we have setup the VirtualBox vmdk file with only the selected partitions for Windows to work, the search.fs_uuid command was failing, $root was empty and so grub can't find $prefix/grub.cfg (/boot/grub/grub.cfg in my linux rootfs which is on sda6==gpt6)
I automated it by changing the EFI grub.cfg, note my EFI System partition is 2 not 1 as in your example:
search.fs_uuid 47d6233f-c0ae-4f89-bf18-184452eac803 root hd0,gpt6
set prefix=($root)'/boot/grub'
if [ -f $prefix/grub.cfg ]
then
configfile $prefix/grub.cfg
else
insmod chain
set root=(hd0,gpt2)

Now if grub can find the cfg file it will give me the menu to select the boot as before, but if it can't - when I'm in VirtualBox - it'll just boot straight into Win10.

Req. Ovftool command to overwrite memory size and CPU count described in ova file during deployment of VM

I have a OVA file(MyOvafile.ova) which contain MemorySize=16GB and CPU count=4.
I have deployed the Ovftool on VMware ESXi server.
I am using the following command to deploy the VM:
/vmfs/volumes/DataStore1/vmware-ovftool/ovftool --memorySize:15360 --name=Test_VM -dm=thin -ds=DataStore1 /vmfs/volumes/DataStore1/OVA_V5.1_BSI-8/MyOvafile.ova
Now the problem i am facing:
As i am giving MemorySize of 15360MB but after deployment VM has the same values as defined in ova file (MyOvafile.ova i.e 16GB)
My Question:
How can i change the value of MemorySize and CPU count through ovftool command?
Apparently, this seems a bug in OVFTOOL (and documentation as well).
CPU and memory cannot be overridden by OVFTOOL's corresponding parameters.
However, there is hack by modifying it in VMX file of VM (and then using reconfigure command).
1) Get VMXfile Location (ending with .vmx) :
vim-cmd vmsvc/getallvms
Vmid Name File Guest OS Version Annotation
72 Test_vm [datastore2] VM_name/VM_name.vmx rhel6_64Guest vmx-08
2) Modify vmx file (for example, using awk) for changing 'vCPUS=REQ_CPUs' entry.
3) Reconfigure .vmx file
vim-cmd vmsvc/reload <VM_ID>

Kinect / Primesense (Xtion) ROS Ubuntu through Virtual Machine (VMware)

Since it took me quite some time to figure out how to get Xtion (Primesense) to work on VMware I thought to share it here with you. (with Kinect I have a problem to let ROS see the device even though VMware has successfully connected it).
roslaunch openni2_launch openni2.launch
Running the above command gave me the error:
Warning: USB events thread - failed to set priority. This might cause loss of data...
I either got a single frame or no frame when running "rviz" and Add --> Image --> Image topic --> /camera/rgb/image_raw
So how do I get video frames in Ubuntu from a Primesense device while using a Virtual Machine (VMware)?

In the answer of blizzardroi (not selected answer) he/she mentions that USBInterface should be 0. I reasoned that since my main Machine is Windows, I should set UsbInterface to 1, which indeed solved it.
Solution
Go to /etc/openni2/ (from system folder, not Home) and open PS1080.ini with administrator rights (e.g. sudo gedit PS1080.ini). Search for UsbInterface, remove the ; and change the value to 1. It should look like below:
; USB interface to be used. 0 - FW Default, 1 - ISO endpoints (default on Windows), 2 - BULK endpoints (default on Linux/Mac/Android machines)
UsbInterface=1

From previous experience it may also be related that your Windows system may need the kinect drivers as well. If the above not works, try to install the following:

(OpenNI2 Windows) http://structure.io/openni
p.s. Don't forget your drivers for Ubuntu (replace hydro with your ROS version)

It doesn't solve the error below, but rviz returns video, which means that we can read the data the Primesense device publishes!

Got the same warning from opennni (issued at start by a binary located at Tools/PSLinkConsole) with another sensor.
Solved by starting process as sudo - my guess: to set priority to USB event threads you need root access. :)
