Selector not working with elements with many markups - testing

On this page https://www.storytel.com/se/sv/ljudbockeri want to locate any book cover or title because I want to click on it. However I keep getting the error that it does not match any element in the DOM tree. It does have many markups so maybe that could be the reason. Does anyone know how i can make this work? Thank you

To click on book with title 'Rött, vitt och kungligt blått', first try saving the div section which contains the book using
const smartList1 = Selector('#smartList1');
Now to click on the specific title 'Rött, vitt och kungligt blått', try
await t.click(smartList1.find('a.sliderBookTitleLink').withText('Rött, vitt och kungligt blått'));

Selenium driver is not reflecting updates after click on link

There are some posts about this topic but I cannot find any solution for my case, this is the situation:
I click on a link (a next page):
ActionChains(driver).move_to_element(next_el).click().perform()
Then I get the content of the new page(I'm interested on some script sections inside the body)
html = driver.find_element_by_xpath("//*").get_attribute("outerHTML")
But that content is always the same, no matter how long I wait for.
The only way to get the driver with new DOM information is to do a refresh(),
but for this case that is not a valid option.
Thanks and regards.
I am not sure what exactly you are looking for here, but if I am right you want to capture the content of script tag from the page.
If that is the case capture the page source in a string variable
sorce_code = driver.page_source , after you get the sting you can extract the value by any of the available string methods. I hope it helps.

How to click an element with reference to another web element in Selenium WebDriver(Java)?

There are many span tags as mentioned in the image below and each has its own a-tag with unique id as "chooseitem". I need to choose particular a tag using names in the span tags.
Need to click the a-tag button using the text Mayo Chicken from the above HTML snippet in the image.
I have tried the below Selenium script
WebElement select = driver.findElement(By.xpath("//*[contains(text(),'Mayo Chicken (Single)')]"));
WebElement add = select.findElement(By.id("chooseitem"));
It doesn't work for me.
driver.findElement(By.id("chooseitem"));
The above code chooses the first item in the page by default as its id is also 'chooseitem', but need to define what to be chosen.
Can anybody help me out?
We need to get the common parent(ancestor) element of the chicked and the clickable 'a' tag, then we can navigate to the tag 'a'. Below xpath should ideally work.
"//span[contains(text(),'Mayo chicken')]/ancestor::div[4]//a"
Note: Here i have used div[4] because fourth parent is the common ancestor for 'Mayo chicken' and tag 'a'.
For more details about different xpath axis refer this->https://www.w3schools.com/xml/xpath_axes.asp
Hope this helps you. thanks.
You can do that by using the xpath position, press F12 for developer tools click on "Select element button", click the element that interests you on the page, as in your picture you will see one or more lines highlighted, right click the line -> Copy -> Copy xpath. You will have something like the line below:
//*[#id="comment-76500216"]/td[2]/div/span[1]
The xpath position will be:
//td[2]/div/span[1]
You can use that when you have multiple elements that share the name or id or so on.
And you will have:
WebElement select = driver.findElement(By.xpath("//td[2]/div/span[1]"));
PS: I used google chrome

Here is the solution for your query:
It's not mandatory to use xpath always. As per the Selenium Documentation & standards, consider the following attributes in sequence: id, name, css, linktext, xpath. If still unable to detect the element try for css/xpath with multiple attributes like class, src, etc.
Once you can identify the element then only you will be able to retrieve the properties of the element like getText() & getLinkText().
Most important, you have provided the copy of the text from the website. It's impossible to identify an an element from the website text to help you out. You need to provide some relevant part of the HTML DOM inorder to enable us to help you. You can look into the PageSource of any webpage to know the properties (id/name/css/xpath) of the elements. For that, while you are on a webpage, you can right-click and select "View Page Source". For Mozilla Firefox you can download & install extensions like Firepath & Firebug to know the properties of an element.
Finally you have to write some code either in Java/Python/C# to open a browser through Selenium of your choice, open a website and perform certain actions with different elements present on the webpage.
Let me know if this answers your question.
I don't know the exact syntax your html has but You can use cssSelector as below per my assumptions of your html elements for both your queries:
1) ul ol ol ol li:nth-child(n) - n= element index
2) ul ol ol ol:nth-child(2) li:nth-child(n) li:nth-child(1) - n= element index

Not able to click on button with xpath and other selectors

i am new to selenium, please see the below html, i want to click on this button and whenever i refresh/open this page id got changed every time. please help me to locate.
Code is---
<a id="d1did8122585133" class="button-position button2-gr td" rel="nofollow" onclick="callUntillDefined('showEnquiryForm', 0, 50, [{'query': 'did=8122585133&modid=ETO&ctg=164&comp=Atmiya%20Manufacturing&city=Surat&state=&country=India&modrefid=8122585133&ss=Machines%20%26%20Equipments&mcat=&modreftype=2&zoom_img=http%3A%2F%2F3.imimg.com%2Fdata3%2FCX%2FKN%2FMY-11421697%2Ffully-automatic-paper-plate-making-machines-250x250.jpg&display_image=http%3A%2F%2F3.imimg.com%2Fdata3%2FCX%2FKN%2FMY-11421697%2Ffully-automatic-paper-plate-making-machines-250x250.jpg','company':'Atmiya Manufacturing','enqu...rmType':'senEnqform','titleZoomForm':'Fully Automatic Paper Plate Making Machines','R_glusr_id':'11421697','R_custtype_weight':'149','R_title':'Fully Automatic Paper Plate Making Machines','grp':'164','displayId':'8122585133','modid':'ETO','query_text': 'SELL - Fully Automatic Paper Plate Making Machines','btn_txt':'Send Enquiry','enq_sent_color':changeColorEnquirySent,'btn_color':'button-position button2-gr td' ,'enq_enquiry_sent':'Yes'}]);recordInboundLinkS(this, 'Trac-Reply Now', 'Listing', 'Pos1', 0);">Send Enquiry</a>
You create xpath like below:
//a[text()="Send Enquiry"]
//a[contains(#class, 'button-position')]
//a[contains(#id, 'd1did')]
css=.button-position.button2-gr.td
I would suggest you do a more detailed study over how one can locate web elements.

Not able to get tooltip text using Selenium WebDriver

I have 5 tooltips in page. Using WebDriver, I am trying to verify these tooltip text.
I am using following code sequentially to get the tooltip text of all 5 elements:
Actions builder = new Actions(WebDriver);
builder.ClickAndHold(Element1).Perform();
Console.WriteLine(Element1ToolTip.text);
builder.ClickAndHold(Element2).Perform();
Console.WriteLine(Element2ToolTip.text);
builder.ClickAndHold(Element3).Perform();
Console.WriteLine(Element3ToolTip.text);
The issue is I get only the tooltip text of first element printed in console.
Is it because I need to refresh or reset the builder?
It's really weird when I delete the code for 1st element , then I can get tooltip text of 2nd element. So, basically it is getting tooltip text only once in single execution.
Verify tool tip by comparing "title" attribute of the web element and your expected tool tip text.
Console.WriteLine(Element1.GetAttribute("title"));
Console.WriteLine(Element2.GetAttribute("title"));
Tool tip text for input elements would be the title attributes and for images, alt attribute would be the tool tip.This is the standard for HTML 4, so I am not sure if you need to do hover and all.
Console.WriteLine(InputElement1.GetAttribute("title"));
Console.WriteLine(ImageElement1.GetAttribute("alt"));
http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/toolmsg.shtml
I think, it needs to release from element as:
builder.release(Element1).perform();
So, your code could be as below:
Actions builder = new Actions(WebDriver);
builder.ClickAndHold(Element1).Perform();
Console.WriteLine(Element1ToolTip.text);
builder.release(Element1).perform();
builder.ClickAndHold(Element2).Perform();
Console.WriteLine(Element2ToolTip.text);
builder.release(Element2).perform();
builder.ClickAndHold(Element3).Perform();
Console.WriteLine(Element3ToolTip.text);
builder.release(Element3).perform();
I am facing the same issue , i checked the view source page on running the test and it appears that the title attribute is displayed as data-original-title.Due to which it is unable to display the text.On replacing the title with data-original-title . I am able to obtain text.
