ConnectionSpecWrapper no longer present in recent releases - activejdbc

Why the activejdbc class ConnectionSpecWrapper has disappeared in recent releases?
in the 3.0 (and also 2.3.2-j8) activejdbc jar we have:
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionJndiConfig.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionConfig.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionJdbcConfig.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionDataSourceConfig.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/DBConfiguration.class
In 2.3 jar we have
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionSpecWrapper.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/DbConfiguration.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionJdbcSpec.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionSpec.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionDataSourceSpec.class
org/javalite/activejdbc/connection_config/ConnectionJndiSpec.class
I am using it like this, in a filter:
#Override
public void before() {
if(Configuration.isTesting())
return;
List<ConnectionSpecWrapper> connectionWrappers = getConnectionWrappers();
if (connectionWrappers.isEmpty()) {
throw new InitException("There are no connection specs in '" + Configuration.getEnv() + "' environment");
}
for (ConnectionSpecWrapper connectionWrapper : connectionWrappers) {
DB db = new DB(connectionWrapper.getDbName());
db.open(connectionWrapper.getConnectionSpec());
log.debug("Opened connection: " + connectionWrapper.getDbName() + " envname " + connectionWrapper.getEnvironment());
if(manageTransaction){
db.openTransaction();
}
}
}
#Override
public void after() {
if(Configuration.isTesting())
return;
List<ConnectionSpecWrapper> connectionWrappers = getConnectionWrappers();
if (connectionWrappers != null && !connectionWrappers.isEmpty()) {
for (ConnectionSpecWrapper connectionWrapper : connectionWrappers) {
DB db = new DB(connectionWrapper.getDbName());
if(manageTransaction){
db.commitTransaction();
}
db.close();
log.debug("Closed connection: " + connectionWrapper.getDbName() + " envname " + connectionWrapper.getEnvironment());
}
}
}
I'm thinking of upgrading the Gazzetta dello Sport's fantasy football site which has been live for something like 8 years and working really well. It is on Java 7/Activeweb 1.10/Activejdbc 1.4.9

The "wrapper" classes have been renamed into "Spec" classes, as you rightly noticed. Generally these classes are not used. If you want to continue using them you can of course (rename accordingly). However, a better approach is to define your connections in a file:
https://javalite.io/database_configuration#property-file-configuration
and simply use https://javalite.io/controller_filters#dbconnectionfilter.
I'm assuming you wrote a custom controller filter and are using ActiveWeb.
Update:
Now that we established you use ActivewWeb, consider removing your code and simply using a DBConnectionFilter, here is a perfect example: https://github.com/javalite/javalite-examples/blob/master/activeweb-simple/src/main/java/app/config/AppControllerConfig.java#L31

PLC4X:Exception during scraping of Job

I'm actually developing a project that read data from 19 PLCs Siemens S1500 and 1 modicon. I have used the scraper tool following this tutorial:
PLC4x scraper tutorial
but when the scraper is working for a little amount of time I get the following exception:
I have changed the scheduled time between 1 to 100 and I always get the same exception when the scraper reach the same number of received messages.
I have tested if using PlcDriverManager instead of PooledPlcDriverManager could be a solution but the same problem persists.
In my pom.xml I use the following dependency:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.plc4x</groupId>
<artifactId>plc4j-scraper</artifactId>
<version>0.7.0</version>
</dependency>
I have tried to change the version to an older one like 0.6.0 or 0.5.0 but the problem still persists.
If I use the modicon (Modbus TCP) I also get this exception after a little amount of time.
Anyone knows why is happening this error? Thanks in advance.
Edit: With the scraper version 0.8.0-SNAPSHOT I continue having this problem.
Edit2: This is my code, I think the problem can be that in my scraper I am opening a lot of connections and when it reaches 65526 messages it fails. But since all the processing is happenning inside the lambda function and I'm using a PooledPlcDriverManager, I think the scraper is using only one connection so I dont know where is the mistake.
try {
// Create a new PooledPlcDriverManager
PlcDriverManager S7_plcDriverManager = new PooledPlcDriverManager();
// Trigger Collector
TriggerCollector S7_triggerCollector = new TriggerCollectorImpl(S7_plcDriverManager);
// Messages counter
AtomicInteger messagesCounter = new AtomicInteger();
// Configure the scraper, by binding a Scraper Configuration, a ResultHandler and a TriggerCollector together
TriggeredScraperImpl S7_scraper = new TriggeredScraperImpl(S7_scraperConfig, (jobName, sourceName, results) -> {
LinkedList<Object> S7_results = new LinkedList<>();
messagesCounter.getAndIncrement();
S7_results.add(jobName);
S7_results.add(sourceName);
S7_results.add(results);
logger.info("Array: " + String.valueOf(S7_results));
logger.info("MESSAGE number: " + messagesCounter);
// Producer topics routing
String topic = "s7" + S7_results.get(1).toString().substring(S7_results.get(1).toString().indexOf("S7_SourcePLC") + 9 , S7_results.get(1).toString().length());
String key = parseKey_S7("s7");
String value = parseValue_S7(S7_results.getLast().toString(),S7_results.get(1).toString());
logger.info("------- PARSED VALUE -------------------------------- " + value);
// Create my own Kafka Producer
ProducerRecord<String, String> record = new ProducerRecord<String, String>(topic, key, value);
// Send Data to Kafka - asynchronous
producer.send(record, new Callback() {
public void onCompletion(RecordMetadata recordMetadata, Exception e) {
// executes every time a record is successfully sent or an exception is thrown
if (e == null) {
// the record was successfully sent
logger.info("Received new metadata. \n" +
"Topic:" + recordMetadata.topic() + "\n" +
"Partition: " + recordMetadata.partition() + "\n" +
"Offset: " + recordMetadata.offset() + "\n" +
"Timestamp: " + recordMetadata.timestamp());
} else {
logger.error("Error while producing", e);
}
}
});
}, S7_triggerCollector);
S7_scraper.start();
S7_triggerCollector.start();
} catch (ScraperException e) {
logger.error("Error starting the scraper (S7_scrapper)", e);
}
So in the end indeed it was the PLC that was simply hanging up the connection randomly. However the NiFi integration should have handled this situation more gracefully. I implemented a fix for this particular error ... could you please give version 0.8.0-SNAPSHOT a try (or use 0.8.0 if we happen to have released it already)

Plc4x addressing system

I am discovering the Plc4x java implementation which seems to be of great interest in our field. But the youth of the project and the documentation makes us hesitate. I have been able to implement the basic hello world for reading out of our PLCs, but I was unable to write. I could not find how the addresses are handled and what the maskwrite, andMask and orMask fields mean.
Please can somebody explain to me the following example and detail how the addresses should be used?
#Test
void testWriteToPlc() {
// Establish a connection to the plc using the url provided as first argument
try( PlcConnection plcConnection = new PlcDriverManager().getConnection( "modbus:tcp://1.1.2.1" ) ){
// Create a new read request:
// - Give the single item requested the alias name "value"
var builder = plcConnection.writeRequestBuilder();
builder.addItem( "value-" + 1, "maskwrite:1[1]/2/3", 2 );
var writeRequest = builder.build();
LOGGER.info( "Synchronous request ..." );
var syncResponse = writeRequest.execute().get();
}catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
I have used PLC4x for writing using the modbus driver with success. Here is some sample code I am using:
public static void writePlc4x(ProtocolConnection connection, String registerName, byte[] writeRegister, int offset)
throws InterruptedException {
// modbus write works ok writing one record per request/item
int size = 1;
PlcWriteRequest.Builder writeBuilder = connection.writeRequestBuilder();
if (writeRegister.length == 2) {
writeBuilder.addItem(registerName, "register:" + offset + "[" + size + "]", writeRegister);
}
...
PlcWriteRequest request = writeBuilder.build();
request.execute().whenComplete((writeResponse, error) -> {
assertNotNull(writeResponse);
});
Thread.sleep((long) (sleepWait4Write * writeRegister.length * 1000));
}
In the case of modbus writing there is an issue regarding the return of the writer Future, but the write is done. In the modbus use case I don't need any mask stuff.

Getting list of nodes for user

I have many 'nt:folder' Nodes created and upon each folder creation, permissions has been granted to different set of users.
Now I need to get list of nodes based on user(with read and write) persmissions.
Using jackrabbit 2.6.0
Partial snippet of user creation and privieges assignement:
User creation
UserManager userManager = ((JackrabbitSession) session).getUserManager();
org.apache.jackrabbit.api.security.user.User user =
(org.apache.jackrabbit.api.security.user.User)userManager.getAuthorizable(userName);
Add entry
javax.jcr.security.Privilege[] privileges = new
javax.jcr.security.Privilege[] {
accessControlManager.privilegeFromName(javax.jcr.security.Privilege.JCR_WRITE)
};
Temporary folder access
Map<String, Value> restrictions = new HashMap<String, Value>();
restrictions.put("rep:nodePath",
valueFactory.createValue(userDbInstance.getUserFilePath(),
PropertyType.PATH)); restrictions.put("rep:glob",
valueFactory.createValue("*"));
accessControlList.addEntry(userPrincipal, privileges, true /*allow or deny */, restrictions);
Adding Node
public Node addNode(String parent, String name, ETNodeTypes type) throws JCRServiceException {
checkSession();
try {
name = Text.escapeIllegalJcrChars(name);
logger.debug("Adding Node: " + parent + " type: " + type + " name(escaped):" + name);
Node node = session.getNode(parent).addNode(name, type.getName());
node.addMixin("rep:AccessControllable");
logger.debug("Node added: " + node.getPath());
return node;
} catch (RepositoryException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
throw new JCRServiceException(e,e.getMessage(),"Unable to create");
}
}
Thanks.
I recently posted on answering a similar question: Using JCR-SQL2 for querying ACLs in a Jackrabbit repository.
This was my example query:
select resource.*, ace.*
from [nt:hierarchyNode] as resource
inner join [rep:ACL] as acl
ON ISCHILDNODE(acl, resource)
inner join [rep:ACE] as ace
ON ISCHILDNODE(ace, acl)
where ace.[rep:principalName] = 'username'

Efficient Way to do batch import XMI in Enterprise Architect

Our team are using Enterprise Architect version 10 and SVN for the repository.
Because the EAP file size is quite big (e.g. 80 MB), we exports each packages into separate XMI and stored it into SVN. The EAP file itself is committed after some milestone. The problem is to synchronize the EAP file with work from co worker during development, we need to import lots of XMI (e.g. total can be 500 files).
I know that once the EAP file is updated, we can use Package Control -> Get All Latest. Therefore this problem occurs only during parallel development.
We have used keyboard shorcuts to do the import as follow:
Ctrl+Alt+I (Import package from XMI file)
Select the file name to import
Alt+I (Import)
Enter (Yes)
Repeat step number 2 to 4 until module finished
But still, importing hundreds of file is inefficient.
I've checked that the Control Package has Batch Import/Export. The batch import/export are working when I explicitly hard-coded the XMI Filename, but the options are not available if using version control (batch import/export options are greyed).
Is there any better ways to synchronize EAP and XMI files?
There is a scripting interface in EA. You might be able to automate the import using that. I've not used it but its probably quite good.
I'm not sure I fully understand your working environment, but I have some general points that may be of interest. It might be that if you use EA in a different way (especially my first point below), the need to batch import might go away.
Multiworker
First, multiple people can work on the same EAP file at a time. The EAP file is nothing more than an Access database file, and EA uses locking to stop multiple people editing the same package at the same time. But you can comfortably have multiple people editing different packages in one EAP file at the same time. Putting the EAP file on a file share somewhere is a good way of doing it.
Inbuilt Revision Control
Secondly, EA can interact directly with SVN (and other revision control systems). See this. In short, you can setup your EAP file so that individual packages (and everything below them) is SVN controlled. You can then check out an individual package, edit it, check it back in. Or indeed you can check out the whole branch below a package (including sub packages that are themselves SVN controlled).
Underneath the hood EA is importing and exporting XMI files and checking them in and out of SVN, whilst the EAP file is always the head revision. Just like what you're doing by hand, but automated. It makes sense given that you can all use the one single EAP file. You do have to be a bit careful rolling back - links originating from objects in older versions of one package might be pointing at objects that no longer exist (but you can look at the import log errors to see if this is the case). It takes a bit of getting used to, but it works pretty well.
There's also the built in package baselining functionality - that might be all you need anyway, and works quite well especially if you're all using the same EAP file.
Bigger Database Engine
Thirdly, you don't have to have an EAP file at all. The model's database can be in any suitable database system (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, etc). So that gives you all sorts of options for scaling up how its used, what its like over a WAN/Internet, etc.
In short Sparx have been quite sensible about how EA can be used in a multi-worker environment, and its worth exploiting that.
I have created the EA script using JScript for the automation
Here is the script to do the export:
!INC Local Scripts.EAConstants-JScript
/*
* Script Name : Export List of SVN Packages
* Author : SDK
* Purpose : Export a package and all of its subpackages information related to version
* controlled. The exported file then can be used to automatically import
* the XMIs
* Date : 30 July 2013
* HOW TO USE : 1. Select the package that you would like to export in the Project Browser
* 2. Change the output filepath in this script if necessary.
* By default it is "D:\\EAOutput.txt"
* 3. Send the output file to your colleague who wanted to import the XMIs
*/
var f;
function main()
{
// UPDATE THE FOLLOWING OUTPUT FILE PATH IF NECESSARY
var filename = "D:\\EAOutput.txt";
var ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2, ForAppending = 8;
Repository.EnsureOutputVisible( "Script" );
Repository.ClearOutput( "Script" );
Session.Output("Start generating output...please wait...");
var treeSelectedType = Repository.GetTreeSelectedItemType();
switch ( treeSelectedType )
{
case otPackage:
{
var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
f = fso.OpenTextFile(filename, ForWriting, true);
var selectedObject as EA.Package;
selectedObject = Repository.GetContextObject();
reportPackage(selectedObject);
loopChildPackages(selectedObject);
f.Close();
Session.Output( "Done! Check your output at " + filename);
break;
}
default:
{
Session.Prompt( "This script does not support items of this type.", promptOK );
}
}
}
function loopChildPackages(thePackage)
{
for (var j = 0 ; j < thePackage.Packages.Count; j++)
{
var child as EA.Package;
child = thePackage.Packages.GetAt(j);
reportPackage(child);
loopChildPackages(child);
}
}
function getParentPath(childPackage)
{
if (childPackage.ParentID != 0)
{
var parentPackage as EA.Package;
parentPackage = Repository.GetPackageByID(childPackage.ParentID);
return getParentPath(parentPackage) + "/" + parentPackage.Name;
}
return "";
}
function reportPackage(thePackage)
{
f.WriteLine("GUID=" + thePackage.PackageGUID + ";"
+ "NAME=" + thePackage.Name + ";"
+ "VCCFG=" + getVCCFG(thePackage) + ";"
+ "XML=" + thePackage.XMLPath + ";"
+ "PARENT=" + getParentPath(thePackage).substring(1) + ";"
);
}
function getVCCFG(thePackage)
{
if (thePackage.IsVersionControlled)
{
var array = new Array();
array = (thePackage.Flags).split(";");
for (var z = 0 ; z < array.length; z++)
{
var pos = array[z].indexOf('=');

var value = array[z].substring(pos + 1);
if (key=="VCCFG")
{
return (value);
}
}
}
}
return "";
}
main();
And the script to do the import:
!INC Local Scripts.EAConstants-JScript
/*
* Script Name : Import List Of SVN Packages
* Author : SDK
* Purpose : Imports a package with all of its sub packages generated from
* "Export List Of SVN Packages" script
* Date : 01 Aug 2013

* from your colleague
* 2. Get the XMIs in the SVN local copy
* 3. Change the path to the output file in this script if necessary (var filename).
* By default it is "D:\\EAOutput.txt"
* 4. Change the path to local SVN
* 5. Run the script
*/

var svnPath;

How to flush invalid SPWebConfigModifications

How do I flush out invalid SPWebConfigModifications?
I tried to execute some invalid modifications as part of a solution and now I cannt get rid of them, everytime I run ApplyWebConfigModifications it tries to execute the invalid modifications.
How do flush them out of the system?
For future reference (after banging my head on the wall for 3 days):
You can use this tool:
http://ianankers.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/web-config-modification-manager-for-sharepoint-2010/
It will list all the mods for every WebApp installed in your farm, you can add new ones and remove old ones.
The tool will only list modifications at webapp level, if you installed mods at the farm level you need to run a script like:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using Microsoft.SharePoint;
using Microsoft.SharePoint.Navigation;
using Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration;
namespace ModTool
{
class Program
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{
SPSite site = new SPSite(args[0]);
SPWebService service = site.WebApplication.Farm.Services.GetValue<SPWebService>();
if (args.Length == 1 || string.IsNullOrEmpty(args[1]))
{
Console.Out.WriteLine("Listing all Mods and Owners");
foreach (SPWebConfigModification mod in service.WebConfigModifications)
{
Console.Out.WriteLine("Mod:" + mod.Name + ", Owner:" + mod.Owner);
}
}
else
{
Console.Out.WriteLine("Removing all mods owner:" + args[1] + ", reference site:" + args[0]);
List<SPWebConfigModification> toDelete = new List<SPWebConfigModification>();
foreach (SPWebConfigModification mod in service.WebConfigModifications)
{
if (mod.Owner == args[1])
{
toDelete.Add(mod);
}
}
Console.Out.WriteLine("Found " + toDelete.Count + "Mods");
foreach (SPWebConfigModification mod in toDelete)
{
service.WebConfigModifications.Remove(mod);
}
service.Update();
SPWebService.ContentService.ApplyWebConfigModifications();
Console.Out.WriteLine("Done!!");
}
}
}
}
Usage:
ModTool http://site - List all the mods for the farm, site is just an entry point
ModTool http://site owner -Deletes all the mods for the far wich owner is "owner"
