How do I SUM two cast columns and group by - sql

I'm trying to produce a balance query. I have the following query below:
I would like to sum FunctAmt1 and FunctAmt2. (I had to use the cast function, as the data is varchar, and I needed to convert to number) SOLVED
I would then like to group by account number, so that I get one record per account. But when I group it errors at me. (With the below query I still see two multiple records per account, and not the total balance.
Any suggestions / support is greatly appreciated. thank you for help in solving point 1.

Without knowing what you've tried it's a little tough to say, but my guess is maybe you only added a group by account_number? You'll need to add the rest of the columns that aren't part of the aggregate. Is this what you're after?

Getting duplicate data when trying to resolve aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause error

I wanted to be able to grab related APVM.Name data from this query however I get the error:
"Column is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause."
When I add APVM.Name to the GROUP BY clause, the data starts to lose its accuracy. How can I get the APVM.Name data without this error? Thank you in advance!

Try replacing APVM.Name to Max(APVM.Name) or any other aggregate if u wanna see distinct names under the ongoing hierarchy. This is just a work around meaning if this output suits your requirements in terms of name getting repeats won't serve any grouping aggregations just that it would be the result of grouped entities with max names (mainly distinct)
There were vendors with different names associated with two different companies. One being our production company and the other being a test company. Filtering those values out resolved. Thank you.

How to use SUM in this situation?

I have the following tables below and their schema:

Currently I have a query like this:
SELECT INV.*,GRP.DESCR AS CATEGORY
FROM INV LEFT JOIN GRP ON INV.TYPE = GRP.TYPE
WHERE INV.QOH = 0
There is no problems with that query.
Right now,I want to know the SUM of the TCOST of every INV record where their QOH is 0.
In this situation, does that I mean all I have to do is to write a separate query like the one below:
SELECT SUM(TCOST)
FROM INV
WHERE QOH = 0
Does it make any sense for me to try and combine those two queries as one ?
First understand that SUM is the aggregate function hence either you can run the Query like
(SELECT SUM(TCOST) FROM INV WHERE QOH=0) as total
This will return Sum of TCOST in INV Table for mentioned condition.
Another approach is finding the Sum based on the some column (e.g. Type)
you could write query like
SELECT Type , SUM(TCOST) FROM INV WHERE QOH=0 GROUP BY type ;
Its not clear on what criteria you want to sum . But I think above two approaches would provide you fare idea .
Mmm, you could maybe use a correlated query, though i'm not sure it's the best approach since I'm not sure I understand what your attempting to do:

If you want only one value for the sum(), then your query is fine. If you want a new column with the sum, then use window functions:
SELECT INV.*, GRP.DESCR AS CATEGORY,
SUM(INV.TCOST) OVER () as sum_at_zero
FROM INV LEFT JOIN
GRP
ON INV.TYPE = GRP.TYPE
WHERE INV.QOH = 0;
It does not make sense to combine the queries by adding a row to the first one, because the columns are very different. A SQL result set requires that all rows have the same columns.

SQL Server - Need to SUM values in across multiple returned records

In the following query I am trying to get TotalQty to SUM across both the locations for item 6112040, but so far I have been unable to make this happen. I do need to keep both lines for 6112040 separate in order to capture the different location.
This query feeds into a Jasper ireport using something called Java.Groovy. Despite this, none of the PDFs printed yet have been either stylish or stained brown. Perhaps someone could address that issue as well, but this SUM issue takes priority

The lines I need partially coalesced are 4 and 5 in the above return.
Create a second dataset with a subquery and join to that subquery - you can extrapolate from the following to apply to your situation:
First the Subquery:
SELECT
WarehouseSku,
SUM(Qty)
FROM
Inventory
GROUP BY
WarehouseSku
Now apply to your query - insert into the FROM clause:
...
LEFT JOIN (
SELECT
WarehouseSKU,
SUM(Qty)
FROM
Inventory
GROUP BY
WarehouseSKU
) AS TotalQty
ON Warehouse.WarehouseSku = TotalQty.WarehouseSku
Without seeing the actual schema DDL it is hard to know the exact cardinality, but I think this will point you in the right direction.

SAP Query IMRG Measure documents

I'm learning SAP queries.
I want to get all the Measure documents from an equipement.
To do that, I use 3 tables :
EQUI, IMPTT, IMRG
The query works but I have all documents instead I only want to get the last one by Date. But I can't do that. I'm sure that I have to add a custom field, but I have tried but none of them works.
For example, my last code :

You will need to get the date from IMRG, and the inverted timestamp field, so the MIN() of this will be the most recent - that looks correct.
However your GROUP BY looks wrong. You should be grouping on the IMPTT~POINT field so that you get one record per measurement point. Note that one Point IMPTT can have many measurements (IMRG), so something like this:
SELECT EQUI-OBJNR, IMPTT~POINT, MIN(IMRG~IMRC_INVTS)
...
GROUP BY EQUI-OBJNR, IMPTT~POINT
If I got you correctly, you are trying to get the freshest measurement of the equipment disregard of measurement point. So you can try this query, which is not so beautiful, but it just works.

Datediff and aggregate

I would like to be able to calculate the time difference between events within the same job.
Please note: OperationID=event, Servicereqno=job
My end goal is to calculate the average time taken between each event and export this into a report, but i am having problems getting past the first hurdle.
I have tried the following statement however it does not work:

Your two queries look quite different having different table names, etc. So you'd probably have to adjust my query below to match what you actually have.
You can look into the previous record with LAG. So a query showing all those events with a time difference to the previous one could be:

You can build up on this by using it as a derived table (a subquery in a FROM clause).
