Windows firewall problem - can't use GameRanger - udp

I have a problem that whenever I try to host a room or join another room game I get windows firewall problem (that either router or firewall blocking me of entering/hosting a game). I followed GR instructions and I set up my UDP connection like this:
Also I enabled GR though windows firewall:
Moreover, I turned off the windows firewall, windows defender. I restarted the router.. And nothing seems to work. :(

Calling a web server on my computer from a smartphone

I have this strange problem that i haven't been able to figure out. Can anyone please suggest what to try:
I have a piece of software to control my camera from my computer. It's called "Control my Nikon". It has a built-in web server. The purpose is to be able to connect from a smartphone to use it as a remote control. You choose what port it should listen to and enable it. You get a simple interface with buttons. Exposing a photo, for example, triggers the URL 127.0.0.1:8090/?c=3. Very basic stuff.
On the computer it works perfectly, but from my phone, i just get a timeout. I figured i needed to open the port (8090) in my firewall and spent some time setting that up, but it still won't work. I am using my computer's IP address on the network: 192.168.1.214:8090, which should reach the same place as 127.0.0.1:8090 from the computer.
I then set up a Spring boot application to listen to the 8090 port and i was able to reach that from the phone just fine. This suggests that the firewall is not the issue. I can trigger the control my Nikon URL from within the Spring boot application too, by making a call to http://127.0.0.1:8090/?c=3. I can also reach pages served by Apache (192.168.1.214/testpage.html) on the computer from the phone without any problems.
What am i missing here?
The Nikon software is probably binding itself to the 127.0.0.1 network interface and not every network interface it finds.
The software doesn't appear to be designed for network control but just runs a web server so it can present a UI in HTML.
You would need to change the Nikon software so it listens on other ports (or configure port forwarding or a reverse proxy).

xampp - site only works when connected to my wi-fi network

I've recently set up a personal website for prorgams I make and set it up over at www.ioi-xd.xyz. The website looks fine when connecting on my computer or when accessing it over wi-fi. However, I've seen friends who aren't on my wi-fi having trouble with the site, and after attempting to access the site on a phone that isn't connected, I can confirm that the site only works when connected to my wifi.
I am running XAMPP v 3.2.2, with Apache 2.4. My port is :80 and my SSL is :4433. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling XAMPP, to no avail. I've also disabled my firewall completely, including my domain network. Nothing I do seems to work though.
Found the answer myself. Wasn't aware of this so I might as well post this for those scratching their heads like I just was an hour ago.
Most ISPs block the ability to host sites on wi-fi. This isn't something (at least that I'm aware of) that you can change. You will have to use a website host such as Hostinger.

Hyper-v 2012 - Guest OS not working with a Static IP

So I have a very strange issue. I've setup 2 NIC's, 1 for the host OS (windows 2012 with Hyper V) and a guest OS (Windows 2012 - Active Directory). I've setup 2 physical nics, 1 for the host and another for the VM's.
Unfortunately the problem seems to be when I try to set the guest OS to a static IP on the local subnet (which works with DHCP), but the moment i assign a static IP, it stops communicating with anything but the local IP's for the Host OS.
I've tried several different things for the virtual server (guest OS) and so far nothing is working. If I leave it set to DHCP, its fine with all connectivity. However the moment I set it to a static, it stops me.
At the current time I have the Host OS (Server) with 2 physical nic's:
Nic1 - Host OS connectivity
Nic2 - Hyper-v Virtual Switch configured "External network" for all VM's
Guest OS - connects using DHCP through Nic2 (External Network). Should be bridged, but when I set to static, I lose all connectivity to the external network, but switch back to DHCP and it works great.
Whats going on? Am I completely missing something obvous here?
So in case anyone finds this question I thought I should at least post the answer I found.
It would appear that the problem is not with my Hyper-V setup. The problem was with the router that the system was attached to. I have a ZYXEL USG1000 that is controlling the network with Hyper-V, and it appears that this model does not work in the same way as other router products I've experienced (Cisco/Juniper/etc).
I was able to verify that the VM's could actually ping/access other systems within the same subnet assigned to them, but they still could not cross the gateway. There is a IP/MAC Binding option within the Zyxel router software and until this VM's MAC was added to the binding list, only then would the gateway pass traffic from the VM's.
So in case anyone else runs into this similar situation, check out your router and the mac/IP binding for your VM's.

no internet on windows phone 8 emulator

I have installed windows phone 8 SDK and tried running a simple app which embeds a WebBrowser on a page. When I try to run the app in emulator the emulator does not get internet connection. It displays an error message saying "You don't have permission to modify internal Hyper-V network adapter settings required to run the emulator". Im sure my login has admin permissions. My machine is 64bit, hyper v is enabled and Hyper v manager is running, hardware virtualization is enabled in the BIOS settings, DHCP is enabled and its connected to a wired network. I have checked all the system requirements. What ever I do it keeps on giving the same error message. I setup everything in a different machine and tried running the app in that machine. The same error message is displayed in the that machine also. Can anyone tell me how to get it working.
DHCP is enabled and its connected to a wired network
Can you run ipconfig /all on your host machine and post it here please?
seems you have problem with your DHCP or maybe multiple DHCP and conflict.
You need to add your user account as a member of the "Hyper-V Administrators" group on the machine.
Detailed steps:
Hit Windows key + Q and search for "local users and groups". Change the search scope to "Settings". Click "Edit local users and groups".
Expand the "Groups" section. Right-click on "Hyper-V Administrators" and select "Add to group".
Add your user account.
Some connection tools on the host can have negative effects when used with the emulator; I found having cisco VPN client installed on the host prevented the emulator from finding the internet. Other VPN clients may have similar side-effects. I simply uninstalled cisco (the inbuilt windows VPN is fine for what I need) and it worked perfectly.
I've also seen problems where it won't find the internet after the host has been suspended / resumed. In that scenario, it turned out to be bad network drivers. I installed a dedicated Intel NIC (rather than the on-board NIC on the motherboard) - problem solved.
Basically, Hyper-V is a bit fussy.
try refreshing the hyper-v by unchecking and then checking it again, this worked for me.
Steps:
1.control panel>>programs>>Programs and features>>turn windows features on and off>>hyper-v
2.uncheck it and restart the pc.
3.again go to control panel an check hyper-v and restart the pc again.
the try to run the emulator, should work..
another possible reason is that you did not start vs2013 as admin

Hyper-V kills internet connection when bridging

I am using Hyper-V for the first time (running Windows 8). When I create a new virtual network switch, external, it bridges the VMs network adapter with the WiFi - and that for some reason kills the WiFi's internet connection. Why, and what could I be doing wrong?
Thanks,
A.
If you have VirtualBoxinstalled, check if any of the Hyper-V virtual adapters/bridge connection has the VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver ticked in the connection properties. If they do, simply untick this service where it is present and this should fix it up for you. No need to uninstall VirtualBox.
I had a static ip-address in my ethernet adapter.
Removed the static entry.
Made my external virtual switch.
Had the extra vEthernet adapter, made my static entries (ip-address, dns-server) in this adapter.
Everything is working fine now.
Chris
I had the same problem, it takes a couple of seconds to setup the connection again. Check this tutorial: https://superuser.com/questions/469806/windows-8-hyper-v-how-to-give-vm-internet-access
I just ran into the same problem, losing the internet connection when creating the virtual switch. Uninstalling VirtualBox which I had installed at the same time fixed the problem for me (just disabling the VBox adapters was not enough), so they seem to be unable to happily coexist.
I ran into the same problem recently when creating an external switch in Hyper-V. Long story short, every time an external switch was created, it would bring my ethernet connection down on my host laptop. I had wifi connection option also but disabled it to just strictly troubleshoot the ethernet network adapter.
I brought down the VM, once turned off, deleted the external network adapter from hyper V virtual switch manager. On the host machine, disabled and re-enabled the network adapter from within network connections (ethernet). Once connected, I brought the VM back online FIRST, then created the external switch second which connected with no issues. Verified I was able to access outside world aka internet on both host and VM.
Maybe you unchecked by accident the Allow management OS to share this network adapter setting that is enabled by default. Disabling this setting will leave your hypervisor OS without network connectivity.
I was able to fix such an issue by disabling Internet sharing on the wireless adapter, creating an Internal virtual switch in Hyper-V first, then disabling VMWare bridge on all involved interfaces, then I made a bridge in Network sharing center by selecting my internal switch and Wi-Fi adapter and after that I was able to select external network in Virtual switch manager in Hyper-V
I ran into the same problem too. I don't know for sure, but after trying all of the solutions above and any others I could find, I renamed my virtual switch to 'realtek' (the type of network card I have installed) instead of taking the default name that I think was 'new virtual switch'. Something else I did may have solved the problem (I modified everything I could find for two days), but I think renaming it is what finally gave me internet access to the vm.
