Firstly I am quite new to the development world and this is my first post, so please excuse my ignorance if this is a question that has been asked before (I have search this site and others though for guidance).
I am working on a project which will be a console application that will query a SQL DB, export the results to a csv file and then upload the file to a SFTP server. This will run nightly as a Windows scheduled task, hence being a console application. I need to make the connection details for the DB and SFTP server to be configurable. My plan was to store these details either as Settings from the Project properties or within the App.config file. I would like to create a separate UI (WinForms or WPF) to allow users to configuring these settings and am looking for guidance on the best approach to take.
Any advice given is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to publish an ASP website with a Azure SQL database to Microsoft Azure using Visual studio 2015 community. Its getting stuck at a certain point and taking too much time. Screen is shown below.

From the deployment screenshot, it seems your application takes too long time to update file CustomerCarePortal.dll. If this file is too big, it is normal to take some time to upload. If this file is not big, please try to delete this file via ftp, then deploy again to see whether it will reduce your deployment time. You could also try to deploy the application to a new clean Web APP to check whether it related with Azure Web APP environment. If you have some deployment issue, please have a look at this article. The detailed log information may be help to find out the reason.
I'm new to ZAP tool so sorry in advance if question is stupid, but I cannot find answer on it so far...
I have to fix all the vulnerabilities in some application, so I installed ZAP proxy tool locally, then explored application manually, collected all the requests and ran 'Active scanner' against it. So far everything is good, but the problem is that application quite big and it's very difficult and time consuming to cover everything manually. Fortunately we have dedicated automation environment where I can setup ZAP proxy and let test's go and populate context (set of url's for test) for me
So now my task is somehow share context's between different environments with ability to change base addresses
e.g. I populated context on somedomain/myapp and want run ZAP tool against same application deployed locally, or in different server (e.g. localhost/myapp)
It would be very helpful if someone could share any info how to achieve that.
Thank you in advance,
Eugene
It seems that you can create new context and then add existing links to that context.
Craete a new context
Add existing link to the selected content (right click)
Check this link.

Dashboard designer error:
The url is not available, does not reference a sharepoint site, or you
do not have permission to connect
This is happening to the site collections under one web application only in the whole Farm. Other web applications are working fine and I can open site collections through dashboard designer.
Any suggestions????
Unattended acc is all set, Site feature is activated, site collection is added to trusted location. On database side, app pool acc has db owner access to web app db. PPS is db owner there as well.
I think this indicates to a deployment issue on this app. Maybe something went wrong when deploying webparts, the assemblies couldnt be registered or were not copied correctly. It could also be a specific access restriction issue in SharePoint or in the file system that SharePoint relies on.
Without any log information it is hard to say what is really the problem - but - have a look at windows event log for any further indications, the general log files that sharepoint/asp.net write or also consider using monitoring tools that can tell you more details on what is happening here.
I recently wrote a blog on top deployment mistakes in SharePoint. I highlight exactly these deployment mistakes in more details: Link

Am new to stack overflow and new to .net as well.
Here i need your help with File Watcher in vb.net, let me summarize the issue.
as part of my one of the projects i had to create a windows service which will monitor the multiple folders of the server and trigger some .bat file and i was successful.but the latest request is to monitor the share point as well, but i am unsure how to do that, i tried with UNC and its not working and Service is running on my credentials and i have access to share point
am stuck here, any help is much appreciated.

Apologies if the question is not worded appropriately.
I've created a dashboard using the dashboard designer and succesfully deployed it to our development server. Now I'd like to deploy it to our staging server - is there a way to do that?
I've tried pointing the designer at a different URL without success.
Thanks,
Phil
I ran into same issue and thanks to Umair for reminding me about the import option with the Dashboard Designer. You will open up designer in new location and then use the Import option and point to your ddwx file.
Here is the posting and references from the forum posting - Deploy PPS 2010 dashboard content to new server
I have an additional link in the forum post at the bottom that will send you to the link to the technet documentation as well.
If you only have SSAS reports and SSAS data sources then the PerformancePoint 2010 Content Deployment Tool might be of help.
I have used it to deploy dashboards and reports to another server without issues. It even lets you deploy remotely from dev to other servers if you have the needed permissions. Pretty neat tool, sadly it hasn't been updated recently and still lack a few key features (as the ones I described above).
PPS in SP2013 comes with this built in, but I haven't studied the details yet. Just picked it up from the PPS team in this blogpost
Never figured out a good way to deploy SP lists data connections and SSRS reports though.
