I wrote code below
let browseButton = await Selector('input').withAttribute('id', 'card_image_1583116662160_11.707407693474106');
await t
.click(Selector('.fa.fa-image'))
// upload img
.setFilesToUpload(browseButton,'../../artifacts/uploads/boba.jpg')
but the result is
1) The specified selector does not match any element in the DOM tree.
| Selector('input')
> | .withAttribute('id', 'card_image_1583116662160_11.707407693474106')
It looks like you are trying to use a dynamic ID in your Selector. In this case you should create your Selector based on CSS classes or other non-dynamic attributes. Please refer to this documentation section: https://devexpress.github.io/testcafe/documentation/test-api/selecting-page-elements/selectors/.
The following example may be also useful: https://github.com/DevExpress/testcafe-examples/blob/master/examples/element-properties/check-element-markup.js. The example shows how to access DOM properties and verify them with assertions (you can "debug" each level of the Selector hierarchy).
Please let me know if anything remains unclear.

I need to write the location of an element in page which has just the tag name and only 1 attribute - class and the class value has number characters which is dynamic so I have to use contains to specify the element.
Could not traverse from parent node as it is a list with similar parent name.
Any Suggestions please??
You can use the Selector.withAttribute method.
For example, the following code finds an input with an attribute, which name ends with 'testId' and clicks on it.
await t.click(Selector('input').withAttribute(/.*testid/);
I have successfully implemented react-native-cn-richtext-editor with limited toolbar functions.
I want to know that, how to get value (text that we have typed) from editor.
I am new in RN, have tried to get value but didn't get success. How can I resolve this issue, as I want to sent this text to server and then do further process.
In given example of this library there is method onValueChange on change the content object is present in value and to extract the value below example is there
onValueChanged = (value) => {
console.log(value[0].content[0].text)
}
Finally I got the solution of above question.
convert the value in HTML with convertToHtmlString write following command,
let html = convertToHtmlString(this.state.value)

i have dynamic elements in my android app and there is nothing to find it out .Please check screen shot of my app and attributes and let me how can we do it.
I have tried with the given attributes
I just want ti find these elements and send keys
Try find element by xpath with this value:
//*[contains(#class,'android.widget.EditText')]
It will return the first element if there are many elements with same class.
If you want other element with class EditText, you can add count like this:
(//*[contains(#class,'android.widget.EditText')])[2]
The above for second element.
I tried this way of finding element:
List name = driver.findElements(By.xpath("android.widget.EditText"));
name.get(0).click();
But i am getting bellow error:-
java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0
Please let me know what is the issue?
I found one of my dynamic element through this method :-
findElementByXPath("//android.widget.FrameLayout[#index='0']/android.widget.EditText[#index='0']")
but for second element also , these details are same, so if i am putting same method to find second element , it search the first one only.
Than i printed size of the element with this find method
Size is coming like this
(996, 89)
Please let me know how can i find second element , because it has same details.
I was testing my website using RF. The problem is, every time the modal is opened, a different id(locator) will be set on the textbox that I want to input my text. How do you get value of this locator?
I was supposed to try Get Element Attribute but then it cannot support my problem since it still requires a specific locator.
In ROBOT Framework (RF), the locator can be accessed by several ways. Please refer and read this link: http://robotframework.org/Selenium2Library/Selenium2Library.html
The most common way to access the locator is by id such as :
Input Text id:username # Element with id 'username'.
Input Text id:password # Element with id 'password'. you can also use 'Input Password' keyword.
However, if the 'id' element is so dynamic which it keep changing, then the best alternative is to use either ABSOLUTE XPATH expression or CSS selectors. Install the XPATH add-on in your web browser. For firefox, just install ChroPath.
Then, get the ABSOLUTE Xpath element of that username & password text box. Let's assume we know the absolute xpath expression already, so in ROBOT, you can write like below.
${login_absolute_xpath}= Set Variable xpath=/html[1]//div[7]/form[1]/div[1]/input[1]
${password_absolute_xpath}= Set Variable xpath=/html[1]//div[7]/form[1]/div[2]/input[1]
Wait Until Page Contains Element xpath=${login_absolute_xpath}
Input Text xpath=${login_absolute_xpath}
Input Text xpath=${password_absolute_xpath}
...
This should works. Please let me know if this helps.
This line of code:
$this->fillField('xpath','//fieldset[#id="address-container"]/input[#name="address_add[0][city]"]', "Toronto");
Is giving me this error
Form field with id|name|label|value|placeholder "xpath" not found. (Behat\Mink\Exception\ElementNotFoundException)
The reason I want to use xpath in my fillField is because there are actually multiple input[#name="address_add[0][city]"] in my html document. I figure an xpath will let me target specifically the field I want to populate.
What's the best way to fill out just the input[#name="address_add[0][city]"] that is a descendant of fieldset[#id="address-container"] ?
You are not using the method in the wright way.
As i see here xpath is taken as selector.
The method expects 2 parameters:
identifier - value of one of attributes 'id|name|label|value'
value - the string you need to set as value
If you want to use css|xpath then you need to use find method first.
For example:
$this->find('xpath', 'your_selector')->setValue('your_string');
Please note that find might return null and using setValue will result in a fatal exception.
You should have something like this:
$field = find('xpath', 'your_selector');
if ($field === null) {
// throw exception
}
$field->setValue('your_string');
Also your selector could be written as:
#address-container input[name*=city] - this with css
or
//fieldset[#id="address-container"]//input[contains(#name, 'city')] - this with xpath
Make sure you take advantage of your IDE editor when you have any doubts using a method and you should find a php doc with what parameters are expected and what the method will return.
If you are using css/xpath a lot you could override find method to detect automatically the type of selector and to use it like $this->find($selector);
Also you could define another method to wait for the element and to handle the exception in one place, for example waitForElement($selector) that could contain a conditional wait up to 10 seconds and that throws exception if not found.
