Login authenticates user with any password - authentication

I have a simple login form that I created. It seems to authenticate any existing user as long as the password field has something in it. Obviously, it is a huge security flaw. I'm new to mean stack and using passport to authenticate users seemed easy but not sure if I did it wrong.

I believe I've narrowed the bug down to my validPassword function where I might be using bcrypt incorrectly.

I narrowed my issue down to my validPassword method and found that I was using bcrypt incorrectly. Changed it to
userSchema.methods.validPassword = function(password){
return bcrypt.compareSync(password, this.hash);
};
Makes more sense after looking at the docs for bcrypt https://github.com/kelektiv/node.bcrypt.js#readme

Why do i get the Error cannot post /login using express and passportjs?

When i make a post request containing the user data to log in, i get the response: Cannot post /login.
What is really weird about this is that you can see trough logging that the request get processed.
I was using postman and a html form to test and both didnt worked.
When i have a failure in the passport.js file it gets logged.

Problem with logout user. Express server api with JWT auth

I'm trying to create a full-stack mern app. I use jwt authentication. I will save the token in local storage and the token will be removed from there with react.
I have tried with req.logout(), req.logOut() and req.session.destroy() and it doesn't work.

I become errors like TypeError: req.logOut is not a function.
This should not be done on the server. Just remove/invalidate your jwt token that is being sent by the client. Generally the token is stored in localStorage and/or cookies. Just delete that token and refresh the page, user will logout.

Passport local strategy is never get called

My mongodb userName and password fields are same.
In my db there is an account with this user name and password. But every time it return 'user' as 'false' inside authenticate. I tried to console my request inside local strategy but it never gets called. I don't understand What I done wrong here? Can some one help to solve this? Thank you very much.
You should name local strategy and use it in authenticate.
Use like this passport.use('local-strategy',new LocalStrategy({});
and like passport.authenticate('local-strategy');

How do I access the current user in an express controller using passport?

I'm using express and passport to log users in, in one of my controllers, I want to access the current logged in user, but I'm confused about how to access them. req.user does not seem to exist
You must authenticate each time a user every request and set req.user with strategy. I use a strategy with the token.
Token is sent in the headers.
Instead of the token may be cookies or other strategy.

Implement Remember Me functionality in Express + PassportJS + Redis app

I'm trying to build authentication system with ExpressJS and PassportJS. For session store I use Redis. I wanna use Remember Me. Every time when the user signs in and has marked "remember me" check-box, it should automatically sign in by next visit on site. My app doesn't work with Remember Me, every time when I close the browser, I have to sign-in again. I don't know, what I have done wrong.
My second question is, how doe Remember Me works as usual? I have some idea but not exactly sure.
