Determine if opened as dialog in prompt - aurelia

I am developing an aurelia app. I have a component (which is a full-page component and is navigable) and also in another page, I want to use this component as a prompt to let user choose from that page. So I have written the code below to open it as intended:

So the component Tree is now successfully loaded and shown. The problem is now how to determine if the TreeComponent is opened as a dialog or not.
The way I am thinking about is to pass an arbitrary param to it and if the param is true, the status is dialog and otherwise not dialog:

But I think maybe there is also a better way to do this. For example to ask from DialogService if I am a dialog or not. So what are the other solutions and which one is better?

To determine whether or not you have an open (or active) dialog you can ask DialogService for the relevant fields:
this.dialogService.hasOpenDialog
this.dialogService.hasActiveDialog
Sadly, this cannot tell you which dialog is open. I would argue that your idea of passing a param to the model is an equally valid way of doing it.

I have thought about different solutions and I was seeking for keeping coupling low and preventing define of new param. So I wrote the below code where I want to know if this component is opened as a dialog or not:

Best way to clear a dialogs form after submit or close of the dialog

Below I show the parent vue which contains a dialog+form for adding a new record, in this case a user. When the form is cancelled, I would like input fields to be cleared, which in this case I am using v-model to tie those fields to a user template in the data method.
I would like to control this from the parent, as this is where calls to API are taking place, and if there is an error on save, i would like to retain the dialog form and present the error message, otherwise I would just clear the form on the dialog for button clicks.
Have looked at quite a few examples, and all seem to be wonky. Seems this should be simple enough but I have yet to figure out.

Maybe the best and shortest way would be to do it with v-if:

It will completely destroy dialog when false and re-render it when true.

How do I display invalid form Dijits inside closed TitlePanes?

I have a large Dijit-based form with many Dijits in collapsible TitlePanes.
When the form validates, any invalid items hidden inside closed TitlePanes (obviously) cannot be seen. So it appears as though the form is just dead and won't submit, though, unbeknownst to the user, there's actually an error hidden in a closed TitlePane which is preventing the form processing.
What's the solution here? Is there an easy way to simply open all TitlePanes containing Dijits that are in an error state?

WinJS Listview shows undefined when navigating quickly

I have a WinJS application with listviews in which if quickly navigate between pages before the listview is fully loaded, the next page shows the listview with all elements in it bound as "undefined".
So say I have a hub page with a "to do" that is filtered to only show 6 items, and there is a header that navigates to the full "to do" page, when the hub page is displayed but before it is fully loaded I click on the header link to the "to do" page, the app then goes to the "to do" page, but the items show up with all the properties in the tile as "undefined".
I am using IndexedDB as my data store.
My home page code looks like this:

I narrowed it down to this one line from the Hub Page:

If I remove that, then when I load the second page the data doesn't show as undefined. What is interesting is the data initially shows correctly on the second page and then it changes to "undefined".
Solution
My fix:

At the point when when the callback returns, I am already on the second page. So the selector was not found returning null. If you pass null to processAll it tries to bind the whole page which is why I was able to see the correct data for a second then it changes to undefined...Wow, what a doozy. I guess it makes sense but what a pain to find.

Your ToDoViewModel, and HomeViewModel need to be observable. This means they need to mix in from WinJS.Binding.mixin, and for the properties that you pull in asynchronously, they need to call this.notify("propertyName", newVal, oldVal) from the property setter.
Note that you need to have getter/setter properties. e.g.

jqGrid: different navigator buttons depending on login status

I want to use different navigator buttons in jqGrid depending on login status.
for example: if the user is logged in then add/delete/edit button appeared.
Any ideas?

It is possible to add buttons programmatically using the navButtonAdd method (for the navigation bar) and the toolbarButtonAdd method for the toolbar. For example:

Anyway, once this code is in place, you can detect login status server-side. Then use this knowledge to generate client code that only adds the buttons to your grid if the user is supposed to have access to them.
You can also use for example userdata (see http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:retrieving_data#user_data) to send information about buttons which you need to have in the navigator. userdata should be set by server. Then with respect of:

Another option that I see, is to use cookie instead of userdata to send information about navGridParams back to the client.

Detecting browser print event

Is it possible to detect when a user is printing something from their browser?
To complicate matters, if we are presenting a user with a PDF document in a new window is it possible to detect the printing of that document ( assuming the user prints it from the browser window)?
The closest I've been able to find is if we implement custom print functionality (something like this) and track when that is invoked
I'm primarily interested in a solution that works for internet explorer (6 or later)

For Internet Exploder, there are the events window.onbeforeprint and window.onafterprint but they don't work with any other browser and as a result they are usually useless.
They seem to work exactly the same for some reason, both executing their event handlers before the printing window opens.
But in case you want it anyway despite these caveats, here's an example:

If it's only for tracking purposes, perhaps you could set a background url in CSS print media to a server page (.aspx, .php, etc) and then do something on the server?
This guy claims it works.
This is not as versitile as TJ's solution, but it may be less buggy (see TJs blog post for issues he found) when only tracking is needed.
