How to increase the area of touch? - react-native

I want the touch area to be off the edge without padding. All the icons in the header. How can I do this?
I tried to add an indentation style for the icon. But it does not look beautiful. And yet there is an area without touch.
Look at here

You can increase the touchable area by using 'hitSlop', See document here

Custom TabBarItem menu IOS 7

I'm trying to make an UITabBarController like this:
No matter the device width (whether it is rotated or not) the buttons should not be stretched and the leftover space should be on the right side.
My questions:
Is this possible with the UITabBarController?
For the whitelines inbetween the buttons I am planning to use an unclickable UITabBarItem with an image. Is this the best way to do this?
With this tutorial that I followed I am getting this result:
2 problems here ^, whilst my background.png is 320x49, the selected image (68x49) has padding. This should not happen, both pictures have the same height?
The second problem is that the button/image has trailing space, and I want it sticked to the left side, as in my first screenshot. How would I accomplish this?
I don't expect anyone to post code, just merely a push in the right direction as I'm totally lost on this.
Check this library, you can customize the UI in interface builder with consstraints and get what you want.

How to layout the UIlabel object according to design spec in iOS

I have some difficult time in creating iOS screen to match with visual design provided by design team.
The design team has provided the spacing info for each screen which shows how much space each text needs to be apart from other UI element on the screen. This is attached for your reference. You can see here that the two text labels "Activate Your Account" and "A Verification link...." are placed apart by 25px.
The same thing I am trying to achieve in the storyboard. I am attaching the storyboard screen snapshot for reference.
From this you can see that I cannot keep exactly 25px b/w the two text labels because for the following issue
The text font is custom font and I cannot load the same in storyboard. I have added the font file in the project, but when I try to open it in storyboard for UILabel, it doesn't list out. I am not sure why xcode doesn't show up. This makes me hard to resize the label's frame. If I try to decrease the empty space in the label (upper and lower part of the text), this will make label height less, but when I set the font programmatically, it doesn't fit in this small space.
When I try to increase the height of the label, the text inside the label starts displaying at the center leaving space at the top and bottom of the label frame.
So I want to know how to solve this problem. If anyone had this issues and sorted out, please let me know how to fix this.
Many Thanks
Your designers aren't speccing their designs correctly :) Show them how iOS renders text and have them spec their designs in the same way. This is what we do on the Facebook design team. I mocked up an example for you (each square is 4dp/8px).

Making a CustomView with a static vertical size in Cocoa

I'm making a document viewer in Objective-C, I want to have a bar at the top of the page with a bunch of buttons in it which open up menus, change pages, etc. At the moment I'm using a custom view which then just has all of the buttons inside it, but my problem is that it isn't a static vertical height, so when the window resizes it changes the size of the custom view rather than my PDFView. Is there a way I can stop it from resizing, or is there a better method I should be using to create a menu?
Thanks!
With auto layout, you can just give the view a fixed height -- from the editor menu, choose Pin, then Height. Make sure that it then only has one vertical constraint, either to the top, bottom, or centerY.
Are you using Auto-layout ? You may have to play with it.
Without seeing the code it's hard to debug the problem. Post the snippet where you're re-sizing the views if you're not using auto-layout.

Header of a WP responsive theme won't properly remain on top at the top when scrolling; position:fixed and width:any% throws it out of whack

The WP responsive theme I'm working on:
http://www.wpexplorer.me/tetris/
I use Firebug for Firefox browser addon thingy to make changes before messing with the actual files. So if you have it or something similar, you will see that by adding position:fixed; to the #header section the header width shrinks well more than half its original size and the navigation menu is jacked up within the new shrunken space.
I have added other snippets of coding to the #header section like width:100%;, width:959px; and other percentages and pixels, which messes up the layout; especially when you resize the window down to what you would consider to be for a tablet and a mobile device - it's all out of whack. I can't get the sticky header for this theme to function or do right. Oh, I've also added z-index:200; to the #header section and margin:160px 0; to #main-content; these don't give me issues.
Adding the width: ; code to the #main-content doesn't seem to help either (which I read somewhere online that this was where the width code goes).
Anyway, does anyone know what code I need to make the header of this theme scroll up until it gets to the top of the page where it becomes sticky/static/fixed/on top (whatever the real term for it is) at all times? And, can you get it to work with the layout being in tact when the window is resized all the way down to the size of a mobile device?
Thanks.
This should work
#header-wrap{position:fixed;top:0;z-index:999;}
#pre-header{margin:20px 0 15px;width:960px;}
#main-content{margin:215px 0 30px;}
The position is fixed at the top using 0 with a z-index:999 you then need to set the width of the inner container pre-header 960px to match the rest.
You will need to setup the media queries for the other sizes you have setup. Easy, and Enjoy.
If you want the menu itself and not the social icons to become the top fixed bar without the social icons then you want to make a jquery scroll CSS change so that the #header becomes the fixed position.
It working with fixed header and social:
An illustration of it working without the social bar using a Jquery Scroll CSS change:
This is the way I would do it, I would move the menu down, and add the social icons to the menu itself. (Below is a screenshot of what I mean, the social icons are reduced to 75%)
PS. The social icons stand out to much so I would add a CSS3 Greyscale, and when the visitor hovers over them it turns on the color with a transition effect.
Hope this helps ;)

Is UITabBar's Icon must be monochrome?

It seems that all color except transparency count as one color. If I use this pictures, all I get is a big box and only the first 2 lines are drawn.
What do do if we want colourful tab bar icons then?
Note: If I use the image above, what I get is this:
There isn't anyway to make colorful tab bar icons isn't it? Where is this documented anyway?
Yes, the image you use for a custom tab bar icon is just used as a mask to create the icon you will see when the app runs. It should be white with appropriate alpha trasparency. This is documented here: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/userexperience/conceptual/mobilehig/IconsImages/IconsImages.html
