How to use methods from one project in another project with Intellij? - intellij-idea

I have set up a project, which has a method that I want to use in another project. I tried adding the other project (the one that I want to get the method from) into my dependencies. However all this seems to have done is make so the errors in the text editing space disappear, but when I run the code I still get the errors that I would have gotten without adding the dependency.
The error report was pretty basic and just said that it can't find my symbols.
Also, the method that I want does autocomplete so clearly it is being detected, but for some reason just when I compile it does it encounter an error.

Only the UWP project is running

It doesn't work if I try to add multiple pages to UNO SOLUTION. There are a lot of mistakes coming out. Only the UWP project is running. One of the mistakes.
LIST
First create a Page (Uno Platform UWP) then copy the body.
I also fixed the error in the same way.
To fix InitializeComponent error in Uno, you could refer to the following steps that are from the official document.
You could build your project once, close the solution and reopen it. It is also important to note that Uno uses a multi-project structure, for which each project has to be build individually for errors to disapear from the Error List window (notice the Project column values).
In order to clear the Error List window, build the whole solution completely once. Thereafter, build a specific project and prefer the use of the Output tool window (in the menu View -> Output), taking build messages by order of appearance.

How can I force intellij to check all files?

When I'm using intellij sometimes I do very large refactors that the IDE can't help with. This often breaks a lot of files, but since I'm using either Typescript or Java it's relatively easy to find the problems.
My issue is that I can't seem to get Intellij to check those files unless I open them specifically.
The kind of checking I'm talking about isn't a specific inspection, it's just like the normal compilation problems.
So for example, I have a typescript project and I modified some stuff. When I open some of my React components intellij waits a second, and then highlights parts of it in red. I can go to those parts and see what the issue is.
I've tried forcing the inspector to run, and I've tried building the project, but neither one gives me the red squiggly love I need :^(
It feels like the project->build should force intellij to highlight all this stuff, but it seems to have no effect.

Custom control disappears from object browser

My question is on how custom controls should be updated.
I downloaded this owner drawn custom control, which I built, then copied the DLL to the Debug folder of the project and loaded it into the toolbox from there.
I decided to use this button on another project. I was mildly surprised to see the control was still in the toolbox but it seemed to work just fine. I decided to change this custom button's behavior. The button in the toolbox referenced the old version number. So I deleted it and loaded the newly rebuilt DLL.
Now come the problems. The first application--the one where the DLL was added to the toolbox from--still runs okay, but the second application is throwing errors, saying, Type 'CButtonLib.CButton' is not defined. When I add the button to a form, it appears okay. I can change its properties and it shows up in the code windows and in the object browser. But as soon as I try to run it and it throws the errors, it no longer appears in the object browser. References in the code window lose their intellisense.
Things I've tried include:
Copying the DLL to the project's debug and release folders and loading them into the toolbox from there.
Removing it from the toolbox altogether and just adding a reference then copying and pasting a button directly from the first project.
Copying in a form with a CButton on it from the first project.
Scouring the internet for answers
Swearing at the computer.
Nothing seems to work and I've now spent over a day trying to solve this.
I never did get to the bottom of this. In the end I simply had to recreate the entire custom control project using a different name. I suspect the way I added the original project to the toolbox of a different program – as opposed to adding it within the test project it came with – may have had something to do with it, but that's just a guess. Anyway, I can amend and update the new control without problem now, so all's well that ends well. :-)

Why can't I build a swc in my Flex Builder Project after pasting a class?

This may be a bug report for Adobe, but thought I'd ask here for workarounds...
When I create a new Flex Library Project, a .swc is automatically created in the /bin folder. When I add a new class, the .swc is updated (I can tell by looking at the 'last modified' timestamp of the .swc). When I edit that class, the .swc is also updated. This is all as expected, since Project > Build Automatically is checked.
However, as soon as I paste in other classes, I can no longer update the .swc.
The datestamp does not change, no matter what edits I perform.
Unchecking and re-checking Project>Build Automatically does nothing.
Even worse, Project>Clean deletes the .swc file, and I cannot recreate it!
Is there any way to force Flex Builder to build a .swc?
I figured it out. The classes I pasted into the Library Project had dependencies on other classes that were not present in the project. This caused build errors. Those build errors caused the .swc compile to fail silently.
I didn't notice the build errors in the Problems pane, and Flash Builder didn't notify me that the compilation failed, so I was floundering around looking for answers in the wrong places.

VB NET class is recognized in VS, but I get a 'Type is Undefined' error on build

I am working on a VB NET project and had the strangest thing happen.
I created a class file(just like a dozen or so I have already created). I wrote in the code to access it. The autocomplete found the class, filled it in and colored it blue, just as it should.
But, when I run the app, I get a type is undefined error.
There is nothing in the class yet. And there is really no code to post..it is as straight forward as I described.
I tried restarting VS; Deleting and recreating the class; Deleting the class and creating a new one with a different name.
Is there something in the VB NET configuration I can check to see if it is not being added somewhere?

Ok. I found the problem. I have 2 projects in one solution. They both share some classes that were trying to use my new classes. When I hit F5, both projects are compiled, and since I hadn't shared the classes with the second project, it errored.
So, now my question is changed; How do I specify to only build the specified Startup Project when debugging?
lee
Right click your solution -> properties -> configuration properties and untick everything you don't want to build.
And for your original question, check if build action on that files that don't compile is set to 'compile'
