I am writing docs for our product modlink and I would like to add an URL to docs from SAP.
I would like to link to the docs where the configuration of a RFC-user gets explained. If I use my favorite search engine, then I find a lot of stuff, but nothing looks like a reliable link to SAP docs.
Could someone please provide me an URL where I can find authoritative docs?
You can use this SAP Note as a place to start:
338537 - RFC user authorizations for data exchange R/3 backend <-> CRM
It contains detailed instructions how to create communications users and explains some security aspects. Also simplified guide can be found here.
Note that authorizations SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW specified in simplified guide are excessive and are relevant only for this CRM case. Usually S_RFC authorization is quite sufficient (also S_RFCACL for trusted RFC connections).
This note explains the minimal authorizations that an RFC user needs to have: 460089

When installing the latest intellij, I was reading the privacy policy and came across this:
We use third party service providers as discussed in this section. We also use third party service providers in other circumstances; a complete list of the reasons in which we use third party service providers can be found here.
The word "here" links to this page, which as of this writing contains only a list of links to other privacy policies, and NO information about how these 3rd parties are used or what data is shared with them (despite the text in the policy itself claiming the page contains this information).
Does anyone know HOW and WHEN the following services (copied from the above wiki page in case it changes) are used by Intellij?
Survey Gizmo
Statwing
QuickTap Survey
Facebook
Google
Microsoft
LinkedIn
Yandex
Twitter
Adyen
Crazy Egg
The survey ones are fairly obvious what's probably going on, but what data, is shared and under what circumstances with some of the others could be important. In some cases folks might be working on projects meant to be kept secret, or might have personal or ethical reasons to avoid having a presence on some of those services. Without knowledge of which features send data to these providers, and what data is sent it's hard to agree to the policy.
One might also argue that the failure to specify as claimed in the policy means they don't get to send any data, but nobody wants to bother with that legal mess... particularly since they could change their wiki after the fact, and then one has to prove what it said at the time etc. The alternate argument is that the lack of specification implies they might share any and all data...
Does anyone know of better information about how Intellij uses these providers? Googling just got me lots of links on how to install Facebook SDK etc...
The privacy policy page shows links to the privacy policies of services used by the JetBrains Web site, marketing activities etc. As of version 2016.2 and all earlier versions, IntelliJ IDEA does not connect to any of those services, or send any data to them, from the product itself. I (a member of the JetBrains management team) am also not aware of any plans to start doing so in the future.
(Note that third-party plugins not developed by JetBrains do sometimes use those services.)
None of our downloadable IDE's or tools send back any sort of confidential information at all. The only information that is sent is anonymous usage data and ONLY with the consent of the user. Even accepting the Privacy Policy does not imply you have to send back data. It's completely opt-in.
Beyond that, the only other information sent is performance data, exceptions and other information which again requires explicit user action and consent.
The Privacy Policy covers every software and service we provide at JetBrains, including but not limited to our installable tools, services, our web sites, surveys we may run etc. The services you mention are all related to our web site, e-shop, social media promotions, any advertising campaign and/or any surveys we may run. Our tools do not use any of those services.
Concurring with my colleague Dmitri, we do not however control what individual plugins may or may not do.
We do appreciate your feedback however and we will take steps to make it clearer on the page.
Has anyone ever tried to integrate QlikView BI application with SimPro business management software? If so, would be interested to know if you were successful and if so how?!!
Dorey.
Jonathan from simPRO here.
I'm not aware of any clients that have an integration with QlikView but it is a well respected reporting platform with a myriad of ways to extract data from other systems.
A quick scout around their documentation tells me that the easiest option for integration would using their QVSource API connector.
Details are here: http://www.qvsource.com/Connectors-For-QlikView/General-JSON-XML-SOAP-Web-API-Connector-For-QlikView
For simPROs API you would use this in "POST" methodology - ie: supplying the post data as per our API docs at: http://api.simpro.co . Our API uses OAuth authentication and there is dome detail and examples on using that with QVsource at: http://wiki.qvsource.com/General-Web-Connector-For-QlikView.ashx
Whilst we may not be able assist technically with setting up the QlikView system our technical support department can assist with any queries you have in regards to our API calls etc...
Hope that is of some help!
I am going to try and respond to your dilemma, while being a QV expert for the last 8 years I am not too familiar with simpro, however I did quickly browse through their API docs here -> http://api.simpro.co/
I have noticed that they support 3 formats, namely soap, json and xml. For qlikview you would choose xml. I have also noticed that they support 2 authentication methods namely basic auth and O Auth. IN this scenario you would be using basic auth (so you can pass a username and password via the url) as this will also work perfectly with Qlikview.
In your Edit Script, you will notice a "Data from files"-> Web Files, then in the popup you can enter the url from where you would retrieve your information from.
Note you need to pass format=xml to the url, along with your basic auth username and password to the relevant url (which you will find in simpro's docs), for any other format you will need QVSource which has a fee attached.
I hope this has pointed you in the right direction.
I am new to API's. I want to create one in grails.
I believe that another application website etc. would just post to a URL in my web-app and it will start a method.
Where is a good place to start my research into this. Any help would be grateful.Thanks.
it's my first answer but I hope it'll be useful for you :)
Here are some resources you should look into before making your own API:
REST - it's the theory about the whole concept of api you're building. Please find it on Wikipedia. I can't post link because of 2 links limit for new accounts here :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOAP - this is protocol supported by W3C for exchanging messages. Using standard should help your clients to adopt your api.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oauth - obviously you should authenticate your users somehow. You can do it with Oauth - it's widely open and easy to implement. Again, your clients will have easy time connecting to it.
You will find implementations of all those technologies in Java or as Grails plugin itself.
This question (or variations of this question) has been asked before, but as Apple's export compliance rules change relatively frequently, and no one seems to ever get a straight answer, I thought I would ask.
I write an iPhone application that uses version 0.2 of the Dropbox API.
I have emailed Apple concerning use of this specific API, and I will be sure to update this question as I learn more and hear back from Apple. In the meantime, if any developer is using the Dropbox API in their iPhone application, did you mark your application as using encryption?
Edit: Upon closer inspection, it looks like the file data is also transferred using SSL. Since their API is using the NSMutableURLRequest class over HTTPS though, I still can't determine whether or not this API "uses encryption." If in the App Store submission page I mark that it does include encryption, Apple then asks if I'm using greater than a 64-bit symmetric encryption key.
If your app uses SSL (HTTPS), then yes it does include encryption. The export compliance rules changed last year though, so you will need an Encryption Registration Number instead of a CCATS number. See this blog post for details.
As it happens I'm working on this right now on a related project.
The Apple position is clarified in the FAQ in iTunesConnect; (my bold)
If your App contains, uses or
accesses standard cryptography for purposes other than those listed in
questions 2-4, you need to submit for
an ERN authorization. Examples of
standard encryption are: AES, SSL,
https.
This authorization requires that you
submit an annual report to two U.S.
Government agencies with information
about your App every January.
It's a pain in the neck, but that is the law if you want to be fully compliant. I'd love to hear that I'm wrong though!
PS. You could always ask for a direct opinion from the Government department concerned here;
http://www.bis.doc.gov/forms/rpdform.html
You can also call the Bureau of Industry and Security help desk at 202-482-0707 or read the web site at http://www.bis.doc.gov/encryption for more information.
Discussing your question with a live person is probably going to be better than filling out the online form and waiting for a response.
This question is for anyone that used Google Analytic API on a commercial website.
For instance you have a website where members can upload music and pay for a membership to track via Analytics how many people visited their uploads.
Does Google allow to use the Analytics API for commercial use?
The Analytics API may be used for both commercial and noncommercial purposes in ways consistent with these API Terms.
http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/gdata/gdataTermsOfService.html
Please refer to the lengthy Terms of Service :)
EDIT: As #yc pointed out, this is a question toward the the API (thanks btw).
While I don't think my original answer is totally correct, I think it is worth mentioning the "Privacy" paragraph in the "Regular" Analytics TOS:
PRIVACY . You will not (and will not allow any third party to) use the
Service to track or collect personally
identifiable information of Internet
users, nor will You (or will You allow
any third party to) associate any data
gathered from Your website(s) (or such
third parties' website(s)) with any
personally identifying information
from any source as part of Your use
(or such third parties' use) of the
Service. You will have and abide by an
appropriate privacy policy and will
comply with all applicable laws
relating to the collection of
information from visitors to Your
websites. You must post a privacy
policy and that policy must provide
notice of your use of a cookie that
collects anonymous traffic data.
I am by no means a lawyer, but just want to point out that you need to be careful about what data you collect. Especially when using Event Tracking and Custom Variables.
From the API page:
What does the Google Analytics Data
Export API cost?
The Google Analytics
Data Export API is free. We intend to
always provide a basic level of
service for free. As we continue to
build out more advanced features and
functionality, we may revisit this
later.
