Just want to try out the ABAP Tools for Eclipse and start with developing cds-views through Eclipse. The main problem is that after opening the SAP-GUI menu as in the screenshot, the menu is not closable anymore.
Problem occurs with version 2019-03 and 2019-06 with up-to-date ABAP-Tools.
Clicking the menu again doesn't do anything sadly. The menu keeps open and I can't even press anything more in Eclipse and have to restart it fully.
This was a bug even on previous releases.
You may close the context menu manually by clicking the menu again or the left side of the title bar.
PS: that's weird but I observe that I cannot reproduce what you describe anymore on my current version! (Eclipse 2019-06, ADT 2019-06, SAP GUI 7.50, backend 7.52 SP00 and SP01). Note: ADT 2019-06 has been released approximately on July, 15th.

I am using the Jetbrains Toolbox tool to auto-install updates to IntelliJ IDE. This works well for regular releases.
But how do I use this tool to obtain an Early Access pre-release?
I see a hexagon-shape icon that displays a menu. But the menu items there say nothing about skipping ahead to a pre-release. The items there are only Settings, Roll back to…, and Uninstall. I checked the Settings display, but no options there to enroll in the Early Access program.
Redundant product listing
Scroll down to the item at the bottom that redundantly lists your licensed product, IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate.
Click the Install Again pop-up menu. Choose the pre-release version you want.
After download completes, you will see another product listing at the top of the app list.
Despite that I have ticked the "auto-display documentation" and tried inputting different numbers in "ms" box - I still have to press CTRL+Q to see the documentation. How to make it work?
Also if I click CTRL+Q to show documentation pop up manually - the pop up is too small. Can I make it bigger by default to contain all the text?

Sounds like you want this setting:
Settings > Editor > General
> Show quick documentation on mouse move
And to make the documentation pop-up text larger:
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the pop-up, there is a setting there.
It seems there is a bug. If you open the settings via the gear icon and tick the show toolbar it will work again (at least I was able to reproduce it and this fixed it for me).
I don't have issues with the size (I'm on mac) using IntelliJ IDEA 2018.1.2 (Ultimate Edition) Build #IU-181.4668.14.

Update for IntelliJ 2018.2:
The code completion in IntelliJ IDEA continues to evolve, and now the IDE shows both all the possible auto-completions and Javadoc, at the same time (without the need to directly invoke Javadoc each time). Please be aware that you need to actually enable this cool new feature. Go to Preferences | Editor | General | Code Completion and turn on the Show the documentation info pop-up in… options.

I've just installed the community edition v13. What has happened to the side bar to the right which had the maven projects. With one click it would display the maven projects. When I go to View -> Tool Windows -> Maven Projects it displays but when I hide it, it completely disappears. It didn't do this in version 12. It's annoying to keep going to the top menu bar. Any ideas on how to get it back?
In Idea 13, in left-right part are by default invisible(to not use place). Click on showed button to go to previous style.
In my Eclipse plug-in I have a custom editor which has its own toolbar. If I detach such an editor I still can use this toolbar. But only if there is no other editor (without this toolbar) active on the workbench. In this case the toolbar of the detached window disappears while activating the workbench so I can't use it anymore for the detached window. Is this a bug or a feature?
Is it somehow possible to attach the toolbar to the detached editor window to prevent such errors?
If your editor's toolbar is actually showing in the main window (the usual case) then what is happening is that when you click on the main window to use the tool the main window activates, changing the currently active part. This is a known issue for which no viable solution has been proposed...
See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=323706 and related defects for the gory details.
The usual workaround is to use key-bindings for commands you want to execute in DW's.
I have just installed IntelliJ 9.0.2 on a machine running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04.
How do I get another window to put on my second screen?
I would like to have both an editor and some tool windows on both screens.
All 'windows' inside of IntelliJ other than the code editor tabs have a "Float" option which pops open an independent window which you can drag to anywhere on your screen. This will allow you to manage your IDEA windows however you like.
IntelliJ also allow you to open multiple projects at once. When opening a project with one already opened, you are prompted as to wether you would like it in your current window or a "New Instance". If you choose new instance, it will open up a completely new IntelliJ with the other project in it. This will work for you if you have many projects you work on at once.
IntelliJ 14 and onwards you can select the settings cog and tick floating mode to detach menus, or drag editor tabs off the main window to detach them
If you're running on OSX you'll need to make sure it's not treating the screens as separate spaces, otherwise they'll snap back onto the same window as the main editor when switching between windows.
To do this untick Displays have separate Spaces in the Mission Control System Preferences.
IntelliJ 10 will have draggable & dockable editor tabs. A very nice feature. It's already present in the early access versions.
