I am currently trying to build my react native project for android, but I am running into this error:
MainApplication.java:7: error: package io.devshot.rnmaterial does not exist
import io.devshot.rnmaterial.RNMaterialPackage;
I have tried to search for what package I need to install, but I can't seem to find anything.
I am not sure where the issues is coming from in the code, as this just appeared after upgrading to the newest version of react.
try to delete the node_module, reinstall and link again
rm -rf node_modules && npm install && react-native link

When I try to use 'react-native-elements' package in my code, I face this error :
bundling failed: Error: Unable to resolve module react-native-vector-icons/FontAwesome from node_modules\react-native-elements\src\social\SocialIcon.js: react-native-vector-icons/FontAwesome could not be found within the project.
I have done many things to fix it. I installed the 'react-native-vector-icons' again, I used 'rm ./node_modules/react-native/local-cli/core/fixtures/files/package.json' but non of them worked. what should I do to overcome this problem? I really appreciate your help guys.
make sure that you've installed the package with
npm install react-native-vector-icons and link it through
react-native link react-native-vector-icons
then for ios you need to install pod (goto your project ios folder on terminal and enter command pod install)
and then reset packager cache with react-native start --reset-cache
if you are using react version <0.60 use react-native link react-native-vector-icons and do the steps link and if react version > 0.60 then cd ios && pod install && cd .. and try again if its not work delete the build folder and rebuild again.
I am Android Developer, I am new to react native development. For this, I followed bellow React Native Document

I did the following steps
1, I have installed node
2, I Have already installed JDK
3, I have installed Android studio
4, set the ANDROID_HOME path in environment variables
And in command prompt, I did run the following commands
npm install -g react-native-cli
Then create a new application, for this
react-native init AwesomeProject
Then successfully created the application, then go to that folder and run the application.
cd AwesomeProject
react-native run-android
Then getting the following error
And this is the node js error

Try to follow the workarounds here : https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/4968.
Kill the bundler process, delete your modules folder, run npm install, rm -rf $TMPDIR/metro-cache-*, also rebuild your android project.
If this doesn't work, you can as well try to create your app using create-react-app toolchain which should be working fine : https://github.com/facebook/create-react-app .
This is a bug within Windows environment for React Native 0.56 you may need to upgrade/downgrade your React Native version. I encountered it, made even worse when I tried to use Typescript.
What I would is run a new project using the latest version 0.57 and just build, if it doesn't build straight away - then use 0.55 until the issue is resolved.
Try this solution, it was worked for me.
Steps to create New React Native project:
react-native init projectName (ProjectName: eg.HelloWorld)
cd HelloWorld
npm start
Open another node command prompt and goto the project path and then run your project with below given command.
react-native run-android
I think you missed 3rd step i.e to start npm.
And if you are again getting same error, follow these steps:
rm -rf node_modules && npm install
rm -rf /tmp/metro-bundler-cache-*
rm -rf /tmp/haste-map-react-native-packager-*
react-native run-android
Every time I try to react-native link a new library, I get the same error message. Here it is for react-native-video.
rnpm-install info Linking react-native-video android dependency
rnpm-install ERR! Something went wrong while linking. Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/Users/Me/Projects/myProject/android/app/src/main/java/com/companyName/appName/MainApplication.java'

The actual location of my MainApplication.java file is
./android/app/src/main/java/com/appName/MainApplication.java
The difference is that React Native Link is including "company name" in the path, which doesn't match my project.
How can I fix this?
I looked over some topic and found solution, you can try with:
npm install --save-dev babel-plugin-module-resolver
and then add your npm install package & react-native link again.

I'm pretty late to the party on this, but for future reference;
TLDR: Adding another folder like so java/com/companyName/AppName/ will fix your issue.
After updating to the latest react-native I had this issue too. Your android path contains your apps ID so com.test.app path should be android/app/src/main/java/com/test/app.
Looking at your error message, its actually telling you where it's expecting the file to be;
Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/Users/Me/Projects/myProject/android/app/src/main/java/com/companyName/appName/MainApplication.java'
If you create another folder like so java/com/companyName/AppName/ you will be able to automatically link plugins.
Another way I tried and it works for me:
rm -rf node_modules && npm install
Then retry install your package:
ex:
npm install react-native-image-picker#latest --save
Then react-native link your package
react-native link react-native-image-picker
There are only two options that i am aware of to solve this problem
close all the terminals to stop the node server running on a difference terminal.
If you still have the mistake after that then try the following option
You might still have the error because you uninstall and re-install react-native without paying attention to the version that you installed which for most case will be the latest version. So double check the current version of your react-native when installing it. "\n"
so either
in your package.json you add "react-native": "^0.60.5" if the version is 0.60.5 replace "^0.60.5" by the version you are trying to run, in devDepencies and run npm install
or
run npm install react-native#0.60.5 or npm install react-native#version
Recently updated to React 0.19.0 and have started to get this error.
I've tried cleaning out the gradle folders but I'm still getting the error.
I've also tried restarting the package manager.
I fixed this by
rm -rf node_modules
Remove react from package.json, since react-native now includes it.
npm install
I've just updated both watchman, homebrew and react-native-cli
The result is that all my new as well as old react-native applicationsare giving the same error.
It is a TransformError in index.ios.js

and it did not work.
Does any one know what is happening?
I ran into this issue as well. It appears to be a missing babel plugin. Run npm install babel-plugin-node-env-inline to fix. I also had to install babel-plugin-dunderscore-dev-inline.
