Xcode can't load ejected and published expo app - react-native

I have run expo publish and gotten the URL for my offline app, and then run expo eject to ExpoKit. However, when I try to run the project in the xcworkspace in Xcode, The simulator reads: "There was a problem loading the requested app", shows a snippet of the URL it was checking, and says that I need to be serving my project on Expo CLI.
Is there some step I’m missing? I have tried doing expo publish and then expo eject several times, and every time it tells me I still need to be serving my project through Expo CLI.
Also, I do not have an Apple Developer Account, which is why I am going through ExpoKit.

Why does my Expo app run in Expo Go but not as a development build?

I've created a development build of an Expo app using EAS. Previously I would open the app in Expo Go by running npx expo start and scanning the Metro Bundler QR code.
Now, when I try to do the same thing, Expo Go asks whether I want to open the project in Expo Go or as a "Development Build". It works fine in Expo Go, but crashes immediately when I attempt to open the dev build. The error reads:
null is not an object (evaluating '_ReanimatedModule.default.createNode')
This error is suspiciously similar to one that I encountered earlier in development, which I resolved by downgrading to React Native version 0.69.6. I'm also encountering a second error that says "'main' has not been registered", but I suspect this is downstream of the first error.
I have the same issue when I try to run the app with npx expo start --dev-client.
Any ideas why I might be having this problem?
It sounds like you may have run expo prebuild (https://docs.expo.dev/workflow/prebuild/) which removes "main": "node_modules/expo/AppEntry.js", from app.json. Try to create a new expo app and look at it's app.json file.
When you run expo prebuild it changes a few things with your project (see "side effects" in the prebuild docs).
I'm actually working through some issues with that right now too. I thought I had to run prebuild but turns out I didn't have to. Ever since I ran it my app will not load via the dev-client way. I can however switch back to npx expo start (NOT npx expo start --dev-client, see the scripts section of app.json as that is also changed when prebuild is run).
Let me know if you are able to get your app to load after re-adding the main stuff to app.json.
Ps, are you by chance using react-native-google-mobile-ads?

Building expo app is not updating the app in store

I used to run expo build:android (or ios) to build and publish my react-native application.
The app in the app store automatically updated doing this.
Since I updated my expo version to 38.0.8 it doesn't seem to be working anymore?
Does anyone know what's the problem here?
Generally you have to run
expo build:ios(or android)
to generate an expo build, and then run
expo upload:ios(or android)
to upload to the App Store or Google Play Store

Ejected expo react native app requires expo?

I created a RN with create-react-native-app, and I have now decided to eject. It didn't work initially, and required some packages to be installed (#babel/...), but now, it complains that Module 'expo' does not exist in the Haste module map.
Why does it still require expo, now that it has been ejected? Or have I misunderstood what ejection does?
N.B. during the ejection I chose the option to eject to an RN app, not to ExpoKit. This is on iOS, currently.
When ejecting expo app you'll be asked about using expo-kit or just react-native and it's up to you to choose, plus Module 'expo' does not exist in the Haste module map means you still using expo in your code so double check your code to be sure that you're not importing expo anywhere and try again.
TL;DR
Ejected expo react native app requires expo? the short answer is no.
when using expo app you have the ability to build your app using the expo server so you don't have to have Android Studio or XCode installed all you have to do is $ expo build:[android|ios] and download your built package after the build process is done also you can run your app using expo client app on Android and Ios but once ejecting you'll lose the ability of using expo server as your build environment instead you have to use Android Studio or XCode, but the main difference here is when you choose expo-kit you still have the ability of using expo client to run your app and you still have the ability to use expo modules inside your code but when you choose react-native you can't use expo client instead you have to use the native tools, anyway in all cases once you eject your project you have to build it yourself and you can't undo this step.
Sidenote
You can build very powerful apps using only JavaScript without any need to eject especially when using `expo SDK 31+, I'm working on an app now with features like detecting location, live maps, social login and chat and I don't need to eject it at all.
Please take a look here and here
Update:
One last thing you have to remember is that when using expo or expo-kit you can keep developing ios app on any OS but when using react-native you can't do this you MUST have a mac.

Creating Android and iOS app from react-native

I have created one react-native app using expo and atom editor. It's running fine in android device and iOS simulator but with the help of expo. What I want is to generate Apk(debug) so that I can directly run on device. How can I do it ? I followed this(Dmitry Mugtasimov's answer). should I run all those command inside project folder ? Also I don't find index.js file inside my project folder. Also if someone know how to run on iOS simulator by creating app like file(don't know what is that in Ios because from android background). Please help, thanks
Since you have used Expo to develop your react-native app you can build the android app by going to the project folder and running the bellow command in the terminal
expo build:android
The building process will take around 5-10 minutes. When your build is done, expo build:status will give you your .apk file url. If not, it will say your build is still in progress and to try again later.
Also to build the iOS app you can run,
expo build:ios
To build the iOS standalone app you will need to have an Apple Developer account, but for Android standalone app you don't need a Google Play Developer account.
For the above commands to work you need to have expo-cli installed, For this you can run the bellow command,
npm install -g expo-cli
More Info: https://docs.expo.io/versions/latest/distribution/building-standalone-apps/
If you don't have an Apple Developer Account. You can build the iOS
standalone simulator build using the command,
expo build:ios -t simulator
And then wait for build to finish then download and unpack YourAppName.tar.gz. Then, start the iOS simulator and run xcrun simctl install booted YourAppName.app to run the .ica file.
More info: Expo / React-Native, Is it there a way to test-run standalone iOS apps on a device/simulator?

Can I not use Expo (cloud service) at all using React Native

I have build an app using react native(detached) but the thing is I would want to completely get rid of Expo. The reason is, what if one day EXPO service get shut down or no more supported.
So in this case I would not want the app to be affected.
Currently I need to publish my app thru ExpoKit to see the latest changes, how would I build my android app so it would not have any reference to Expo but still be able to work properly
Currently this is how I understand how the react native and expo works: first u build ur app using react native code and then a bundle.js is generated somewhere on cloud(EXPO) using publish command so the app communicate with that bundle.js.
Note I am not using any feature from Expo so why would I need Expo in this case?
Edited: If I am detaching my app from expo, I mean why would I still need Expo? Can't I just build the app and run the app without expo at all?
You can build your whole application without using expo, just follow the steps from facebook documentation in "Building Projects with Native Code" tab.
or
you can run "npm run eject" in your project root directory folder.
After this, you can build your appliaction using react-native cli commands, like
react-native run-android.

For building apk for production, you can follow steps given in facebook documentation as generating signed apk and for released IPA for iOS yo can follow building your app for production for IOS.
