I'm fairly new in SQL and I'm trying to set up a TRIGGER for an exercise I have. I can't seem to find the solution. Here is the code:
CREATE TRIGGER C3
BEFORE UPDATE OF rate ON Magazines
FOR EACH ROW
WHEN(:NEW.rate < :OLD.rate*0.75)
BEGIN
IF :NEW.rate < 0 THEN
:NEW.rate = 0;
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20003, 'Rate should never be below 0.');
ELSE
:NEW.rate = :OLD.rate*0.75;
END;
/
When I try to compile, it shows me this error :
Non valid use of bind variable in WHEN of a trigger
I tried to remove the : before NEW and OLD but instead it gives me another compiler error.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!
The assignment operation in pl/sql is :=
CREATE TRIGGER C3
BEFORE UPDATE OF rate ON Magazines
FOR EACH ROW
WHEN(:NEW.rate < :OLD.rate*0.75)
BEGIN
IF :NEW.rate < 0 THEN
:NEW.rate := 0;
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20003, 'Rate should never be below 0.');
ELSE
:NEW.rate := :OLD.rate*0.75;
END;
You first need to remove the colons from the WHEN clause only. Then you will also need colons in front of the equals signs for assignment in the trigger body.
CREATE TRIGGER C3
BEFORE UPDATE OF rate ON Magazines
FOR EACH ROW
WHEN(NEW.rate < OLD.rate*0.75)
BEGIN
IF :NEW.rate < 0 THEN
:NEW.rate := 0;
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20003, 'Rate should never be below 0.');
ELSE
:NEW.rate := :OLD.rate*0.75;
END;
/
Per the documentation:
In the trigger_body of a simple trigger or the tps_body of a compound trigger, a correlation name is a placeholder for a bind variable. Reference the field of a pseudorecord with this syntax:
:pseudorecord_name.field_name
In the WHEN clause of a conditional trigger, a correlation name is not a placeholder for a bind variable. Therefore, omit the colon in the preceding syntax.

so I am trying to write to an array in PL/SQL, and I always get the subscript outside of limit error. I've seen similar posts and implemented everything based on those answers, I can't seem to find what I'm doing wrong. The line giving the error is "arr_quartosLivres(counter) := q.id;" I've tried to extend the array and it still doesn't work, however, either way, the look only runs 21 times (because there are only 21 values in the table quarto) so it shouldn't even need to be extended. Any help would be highly appreciated! Thank you
SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;
DECLARE
p_idReserva reserva.id%type := 408;
v_dataEntradaReserva reserva.data_entrada%type;
counter integer := 0;
type arr_aux IS varray(21) of quarto.id%type;
arr_quartosLivres arr_aux := arr_aux();
BEGIN
SELECT data_entrada INTO v_dataEntradaReserva FROM reserva WHERE id = p_idreserva;
FOR q IN (SELECT * FROM quarto)
LOOP
BEGIN
IF isQuartoIndisponivel(q.id, v_dataEntradaReserva)
THEN DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('nao disponivel' || counter);
arr_quartosLivres(counter) := q.id;
ELSE DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('disponivel' || counter);
END IF;
counter := counter + 1;
END;
END LOOP;
END;
The index values for varray begin with 1. Your logic is trying to use index value 0. Thus index out of range. BTW extend does not apply to varray, when declared a varray has a fixed size. You have 3 solutions: initialize counter to 1 instead of 0, or move incrementing it prior to its use as an index. Since as it stands you increment every time through the loop, even when the IF condition returns false and you do not use the counter as an index, leaving a NULL value in the array.But you use counter for 2 different purposes: Counting rows processed and index into the array. Since the row value may not be put into the array then your 3rd option is to introduce another variable for the index. Further there is no need for the BEGIN ... End block in the loop.
declare
p_idreserva reserva.id%type := 408;
v_dataentradareserva reserva.data_entrada%type;
counter integer := 0;
type arr_aux is varray(21) of quarto.id%type;
arr_quartoslivres arr_aux := arr_aux();
varray_index integer := 1 ; -- index varaibal for varray.
begin
select data_entrada into v_dataentradareserva from reserva where id = p_idreserva;
for q in (select * from quarto)
loop
if isquartoindisponivel(q.id, v_dataentradareserva)
then
dbms_output.put_line('nao disponivel' || counter || ' at index ' || varray_index);
arr_quartoslivres(varray_index) := q.id;
varray_index := varray_index + 1;
else
dbms_output.put_line('disponivel' || counter);
end if;
counter := counter + 1;
end loop;
end;
I have SMDBGrid component with show filter bar option set to true, but filter just working in case-sensitive mode
1.Try with lower case
2.Try with upper case
I have tried to insert the code in SMDBgrid.pas like this
procedure TSMDBGrid.ApplyFilter;
var
TempCol: Integer;
begin
if (eoFilterAutoApply in ExOptions) then
begin
TempCol := LeftCol;
BeginUpdate;
try
if DataLink.Active then
begin
DataLink.DataSet.CheckBrowseMode;
DataLink.DataSet.Filtered := False;
DataLink.DataSet.OnFilterRecord := nil;
DataLink.DataSet.OnFilterRecord := OnFilterRecord;
DataLink.DataSet.FilterOptions := [foCaseInsensitive]; <-- this the inserted code
DataLink.DataSet.Filtered := not FilterIsEmpty();//True;
end;
finally
LeftCol := TempCol;
EndUpdate;
end;
end;
if Assigned(OnFilterChanged) then
OnFilterChanged(Self);
end;
But no luck, Is posible filter the record ignoring the case?
PS:
I use Delphi 2009
You may use the OnAccentStringConvert event to transform the value for filter in column before compare:
begin
Result := UpperCase(S)
end;
Looks like I cope with this problem too. Trying to find any solution for Delphi XE 10.3 community edition and wrote to author of SMDBGrid and he found workaround.
Please use SQL ADOQuery as follows.
SELECT UPPER(field) FROM your_table
then use event OnAccentStringConvert and uppercase S String as follows:
function TYourFormName.DBGrridNameAccentStringConvert(Sender: TObject; const S: string): string;
begin
Result := UpperCase(S)
end;
This works very ugly, but at least works. Or you may just create filter by yourself for every table.
I'm new to Triggers and PL/SQL in general. FOr testing purpose I'm using slely the Oracle Database Express Edition with its own Command Line.
The script supposed to create a trigger looks like follows:
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER SESSION_LOGIN_HANDLER
AFTER UPDATE OF LOGGED_IN ON BENUTZERKONTO
REFERENCING OLD AS OLD NEW AS NEW
FOR EACH ROW
DECLARE
BEGIN
if (:OLD.LOGGED_IN == 1)
if (:NEW.LOGGED_IN == 0)
{
UPDATE SESSION_LOGGING AS current_session SET DAUER = (sysdate-ZEITSTEMPEL) WHERE DAUER IS NULL AND SECURE_IDENTIFIER = :NEW.SECURE_IDENTIFIER;
}
END;
commit;
And I call it with #C:/SQL.../DB_TRIGGER.trg; in the command line.
Yet just after calling it, the command line seems just to count the line number with each time I press .
It seems like it somehow waits for another line or anything, but I don't know what ><
There's also no failure message or anything.
I even commented out the entire code between "BEGIN" and "END" with no difference!
Could someone help this beginner? Thanks in advance!
That's no Oracle syntax, it must be like this:
if (:OLD.LOGGED_IN = 1) then
if (:NEW.LOGGED_IN = 0) then
UPDATE SESSION_LOGGING AS current_session SET DAUER = (sysdate-ZEITSTEMPEL)
WHERE DAUER IS NULL AND SECURE_IDENTIFIER = :NEW.SECURE_IDENTIFIER;
end if;
end if;
Dont know how to formulate this exactly so bear with me please... I am saving text from a memo to a database with date selected in the PlannerCalendar1. Since I can select multiple dates in the PlannerCalendar1, how can I post the value of the memo to all dates selected in the PlannerCalendar1?So when I click 'save' the contents of the memo gets saved to all selected dates.Database is SQLite. The table also has an ID field which is autoinc (primary).PlannerCalendar is from the set of TMS components.
procedure TForm1.cxButton1Click(Sender: TObject);
var i:integer;
begin
with UniQuery1 do
begin
UniQuery1.SQL.Text:='INSERT INTO LOG (DATE,PERSON,DONE,TIME) VALUES (:a1,:a2,:a3,:a4)';
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A1').VALUE := PlannerCalendar1.Date;
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A2').VALUE := cxmemo1.Lines.text ;
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A3').VALUE := (0);
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A4').Value := AdvOfficeStatusBar1.Panels[0].Text;
UniQuery1.ExecSQL;
cxmemo1.Clear;
UniTable1.Refresh;
Tried this at the end but it wont work :
with plannercalendar1.Dates do
begin
for i := 0 to -1 do
begin
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A1').VALUE :=plannercalendar1.dates.Add + i ;
UniQuery1.ExecSQL;
end;
I have no idea what a PlannerCalendar is, but presumably there's some way to get at the list of dates that are selected. You want to do something like this:
UniQuery1.SQL.Text:='INSERT INTO LOG (DATE,PERSON,DONE,TIME) VALUES (:a1,:a2,:a3,:a4)';
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A2').VALUE := cxmemo1.Lines.text ;
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A3').VALUE := (0);
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A4').Value := AdvOfficeStatusBar1.Panels[0].Text;
for i := 0 to PlannerCalendar1.NumberOfDatesSelected-1 do begin
UniQuery1.PARAMS.ParamByName('A1').VALUE := PlannerCalendar1.SelectedDate[i];
UniQuery1.ExecSQL;
end;
Of course, NumberOfDatesSelected and SelectedDate are wild guesses. You'll need to find out what they're really called.
You need to use the Planner's SelectionToAbsTime method :-
Var
lStart, lEnd : TDateTime;
Begin
Planner1.SelectionToAbsTime(lStart, lEnd);
For I := Trunc(lStart) To Trunc(lEnd) Do
SaveMemosForDate(I);
End;
I am working on Sql Developper an I created the following procedure in a package:
PROCEDURE VALIDER(a_session IN NUMBER) AS
i NUMBER;
TYPE type_tab IS TABLE OF PANIER%ROWTYPE;
tabSeances type_tab;
BEGIN
SELECT * BULK COLLECT INTO tabSeances
FROM PANIER
WHERE a_session = sessionweb;
i:=0;
FOR i IN 1 .. tabSeances.count LOOP
-- UPADTE DU NOMBRE DE PLACES LIBRES
BEGIN
UPDATE PROJECTION
SET remaining_seats = (remaining_seats - tabseances(i).nbrplaces)
WHERE num_copy = tabseances(i).num_copy
AND day = tabseances(i).dateseance
AND time_slot = tabseances(i).time_slot
AND movie = tabseances(i).movie;
COMMIT;
--UPDATE ON PANIER
UPDATE PANIER
SET valide = 1
WHERE sessionweb = a_session
AND num_copy = tabseances(i).num_copy
AND dateseance = tabseances(i).dateseance
AND time_slot = tabseances(i).time_slot
AND movie = tabseances(i).movie;
COMMIT;
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN raise_application_error(-20035, 'Pas de données');
WHEN OTHERS THEN raise_application_error(-20006,'Autres Erreurs');
END;
END LOOP;
END VALIDER;
The procedure executes normaly and I don't get an error.
I have a kind of product cart: "PANIER". I loop all the entries in thsi cart for one person (session) to validate them in the database and decrement the total number of seats.
But the field "remaining-seats" (from PROJECTIONS) in the first update don't work. The field isn't updated. I have already tried with other values but nothing.
I am sure that the procedure is executetd because the second update still works. It marks the cart entry as "CONFIRMED".
I don't have any trigger on this field.
My tables contains valid data (<>NULL).
I execute this procedure like this (in a BEGIN END; block):
CMDPLACES.VALIDER(1);
Thank for your reply.
Is it day or dateseance in your first update?
UPDATE PROJECTION
SET remaining_seats = (remaining_seats - tabseances(i).nbrplaces)
WHERE num_copy = tabseances(i).num_copy
AND dateseance = tabseances(i).dateseance
AND time_slot = tabseances(i).time_slot
AND movie = tabseances(i).movie;
Also as #ThorstenKettner was mentioning, the timestamp data in the date , may fail while comparing, so we have TRUNCATE the timestamp data using TRUNC() [if needed]!
If the date column is indexed, beware the index will not be used by the database .
To handle NO Data in UPDATE, you can check (SQL%ROWCOUNT > 0) to identify the number of rows updated!
Your first update compares days. What data type are these? In case you deal with DATETIME, make sure to compare without the time part if any. Use TRUNC to achieve this.
AND TRUNC(day) = TRUNC(tabseances(i).dateseance)
